Calling all the sensitive people out there- How do you deal with the world today with all the crime, hatred, terrorism, bigotry, etc.

I'm a Pisces sun/moon and an INFJ (Myers Briggs). Both are known for being very sensitive and empathetic to others.

My boyfriend said that the world would be a better place if more people were as sensitive as I am about these topics. He said it's hard for people to register with something if it's so far away from them. But for me, it really gets to me deep down.

I cry and I internalize and I feel terrible for the families of victims of terrorism (or any crime). I feel angry for people who are victims of a racial attack. I feel such overwhelming emotion for anyone who is treated unfairly. However, at the same time, I also feel sadness for those who have such hatred in their heart to commit these acts.

I don't like watching the news because I find it too overwhelming. How do you deal with it?

I still haven't figured out how.

I'm a Scorpio stellium with Pluto conjunctions who also has a ton of Uranus and I still haven't figured out to cope.

So far it's been years of extreme depression and marijuana abuse.

Luckily I made it out of college with a solid 3.03 considering I let it drop to a 2.4 previously.

If my emotions are too intense. I completely shut down. I can't function literally. My mind goes black.

I'm watching this thread closely for more insight.

Great thread.

Grounding techniques helped me a lot, actually it would be an understatement to say they helped me, they competely changed my life. You can find them on internet, choose the one that suits you the most, the one you feel at home with, feel comfortable doing (HINT: choose the one you find easy).

Once you know how to ground yourself, nothing will overwhelm you, the sensitivity will be there ofcourse, and you will feel the sadness, happiness, all the moods and the seasons even then, but they will come on their own and go away on their own. Everything just passes by, deep down nothing will faze you, and you'll be able to face anything life throws at you.

I take the world today as a test to see if I'm grounded or not.

I have 4 planets in Pisces, 2 in Scorpio(along with NN and ASC) plus 5 planets in water houses.

It's getting better. Violence and gun crime have been steadily declining over the past decade. The bigger catastrophic events (like yesterday's Ariana Grande concert) seem right in our face and are, of course, devastating, but the overall loss is on a downhill.

That helps me to know.

I think the age of information contributes. There's a lack of privacy in our current age that should help hold people to a higher standard. Aquarius what's better for the group vs self.

Listen to NDEs (near death experiences). The majority are very similar, and it helps me to know there is a better world outside of this one. I believe we are here of our own volition, to create and learn, and to make the physical world a mirror of the spiritual one.

Personally, I am sensitive when I see bad things happen to babies and animals. I have 4 planets in Pisces, all in the 12th house. Things like the election didn't even phase me. Because I see it's only temporary, a passing energy of the times.

Oh, and I read the news online, skimming articles. I used to watch murder shows like 48 hrs, or those on Investigative Discovery channel, and realized they were hurting my spirit. I don't watch them anymore.

Find out your triggers and find ways to get rid of them. Volunteering/charity work is a great way to renew your faith that good people exist.

Thank you. I do volunteer, I help animals get adopted. I meet good people through that. I also believe that there is a better world for us after we depart.

I am just very glum and sad today I suppose. I think it upsets me as well because people are just continuing on with their lives (here in the US), without much thought of the terrorism attack last night. My boyfriend was right in the sense that if it doesn't happen close to home, people don't register with it much. But why do I care so much? Why does it upset me this way? I think about the lives that were cut short. The families that will never see their loved one come home. Their pets that will never see them again. The sadness that someone will get when they look at their empty bedroom, etc.

And then I feel bad for the attacks that happen across the world that goes unnoticed by media. The England attacks were front page news here in America. But what about the attacks throughout the rest of the world that don't get much attention? Those victims have families too, and I feel guilty that one registers with me more than the other.

There is an Anne Frank quote which helps me on dark days. "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can't build up hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery, and death. I see the world gradually being turned into a wilderness, I hear the ever approaching thunder, which will destroy us too, j can feel the sufferings of millions and yet, if I look up into the heavens, I think that it will all come right, that this cruelty too wlll end, and that peace and tranquillity will return again."

I like that Anne Frank's quote, Polkadot!
And I believe in that too..

For crimes, hatred, terrorism, and etc, I don't take things internally. Instead, I feel anger. I don't understand why people hurt people. We are the only species on the planet that would intentionally want to hurt individuals from the same species.
I feel anger and then I want to find the solution for it. That's what I would focus on.

For victims (especially animals) getting abused and hurt by someone, I internalize that very much. Images burns my eyes I have to look away. The feeling of pain would linger me for days and would suffer me a lot.

Things happening in the world bothers me time to time but I think I have come to accept that it's okay to feel upset but I also have to understand that I have no power in changing the world right away or make everyone happy and hope for absolutely peaceful world. Also, for every crime, there are maybe two sides to the story.. There are just too many unknowns why the world is operating the way it is right now.

I just focus on being good to myself and to people around me. I would focus more on supporting others and inspire other when I can. It's a baby step - if I can teach someone to be sensitive and empathetic like me, maybe that person can teach a few more people. I have faith in that and leave things at that.

Knowing that a lot of "terror" events are hoaxes or false flags helps...it's good to do your own research. The truth is not far from those who seek it.

How do I deal with the tragedy and suffering of the world?

Three things.

1. I got rid of my TV and stopped reading newspapers and magazines. In doing this I avoid being manipulated by the media and I know my thoughts and perceptions are my own. I make sure I protect and nurture my mind.

2. I educated myself by academic and personal study of psychology, reading research available online and in books, to get a theoretical understanding of human behaviour and mass psychology.

3. I take action by working with people therapeutically in the community and in mental health. I take every opportunity to influence professional opinion on the causes and effects of social, political and psychological issues and to stamp out ignorance and stigma regarding the same.

I have come to the conclusion that mind is both the root of all strife and all joy.
Whether that be your mind, my mind, the mind of a country, the mind of a race or religion, etc.

The short version is that I took action. I can deal with it knowing that I am making a difference, no matter how small in the face of it all.

I am a Cancer Sun with my Pisces Moon in the 12th house. I am very sensitive as well to the point where it affects me daily. I have to spend lots of time alone away from the world for my own sanity. I let a lot of my emotions flow in creative endeavors like painting. It's a beautiful release and very calming for the mind.

Cancer sun here, I think it helps best when dealing with sensitivity of the world to try to see the things that are going right in the world vs what is going wrong. I believe happiness is a state of mind and you experience what you focus on.

I need a distraction. If it's really bad, I'll cry and keep to myself, until I feel like it's passing. I'll lose myself in something to binge-watch, once I think I've passed the worst of it, otherwise I won't be able to concentrate.

I also volunteer, or try to figure out how I can help.

@polkadotstars: I am an INFJ too!!!

I deal with it by not watching or paying attention to the news. It's not the best method but most of the news is BS anyway.

In times of tragedy I am realizing is it's important to try to not feed into the negative energy. We are all tapped into the collective unconscious especially on the internet so sometimes our "energy" isn't our own but one of many.

Whatever the case would love to learn some grounding/centering techniques.

#protect yourself, #protect your energy.

Update 2021. I used to moreso. Certain methods can release energy that does not belong to us.
~ Since I began reading, I have some better understanding in how to be sensitive, yet not overly.
Compassion (I read Kannon's response, it was beautiful and true) is important to be a sensitive soul/person, yet
detaching in an equilibrium way to remain in our own energy- however not to dip into another's energies beyond the initial help or allow them to us. Energetic vampires may just not be aware they are ~
To be compassionate, self aware and know when to detach, is a good and healthy way to
be sensitive in an integrity based manner.

I stopped watching the news years ago because of this. Although I can't escape facebook.
I have learnt to switch off and not involve myself emotionally, even though i'm an empath. To do so would destroy me physically and emotionally. You must protect yourself.

I still watch the news, I just limit it. I watch the initial reports, and then lose myself in something else.

As much as anything might hurt, I feel a responsibility to those involved, to pay attention to what happened to them. If there are people missing, pass around the information, and so on.

It used to be like that for me too. I'm so glad my family got rid of cable now. They still stream Asian news, but it's not nearly as bad or full of propaganda.

I have Pisces ASC and I am really sensitive. What has helped, was relocation, my ASC changed to Aquarius

I know a guy with Sun, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and ASC in Pisces and it's ultra sensitive person. It almost hurts to watch him sometimes.
