This one shows up in my chart three times, in each mode. My Moon is in Scorpio at 8th degree (according to internet that's a powerful position for a Moon to be at), Mercury in Libra is also there and so is Saturn in Pisces. I need someone who can help me to better understand degrees and to learn something new. I'm not quite satisfied with halfassed internet explanations. Every piece of information is highly appreciated

It is 9°00-59' of fixed signs that is considered by some astrologers to be a "critical" degree. That is the 10th degree, not the 8th. I've never subscribed to this notion of critical degrees that give a planet there something extra. So in that concept only your Moon in Scorpio might hit upon a critical degree of the planets you listed.

The Moon in Scorpio is in what is called its 'fall', that is its second least most natural sign of natural expression. "Powerful" here probably appeals to your Scorpionic interest in such a thing, but what matters more than specific degrees are the aspects involving the Moon.

What you do have is Moon semi-sextile Mercury, Moon trine Saturn, Mercury quincunx Saturn.

The 8th degree in WholeDegree astrologically, is from 7.00 to 7.59'59".

for example--
When you're looking up the Sabian Symbols, for a Moon at 7.25'?... You'd "round up" the number to 8-WholeDegrees.

Think of "paper-money"... You need $8 dollars (in usa) to pay for an item that costs $7.25.

0-degrees is ACTUALLY the 30th degree of the sign before.
The Whole-degree of 0.40'39" would be 1 Degree, or the 1st Degree.

The Whole-degree of 7.25'48" would be 8 Degrees, or the 8th Degree.

REF Alan Oken's book on Complete Astrology, pages 447,450.

Quote

Critical Degrees.
{aka The Mansions of The Moon}
<word 'mansion' is same as word 'degree' in this case>

When planets or major points of the chart are posited in the following degrees of the Zodiac,
they are said to increase in their influence
for either good, or greater tension or stress,
depending on their natal positions.

These degrees are also called 'the Mansions of the Moon',
as each Mansion represents the 'average diurnal motion' {speed} of the Moon (12.51' or approximately 13 Degrees).

These segments begin at 'zero-Aries' (the Spring Equinox).

The Critical Degrees are especially important in
the Hindu, Chinese, and Arabic astrological systems,

but I am not fully convinced of the degree of their importance in our traditional Western system.

They are given here because they are frequently mentioned in other texts and require further research.

The Critical Degrees are--

Cardinal Signs -- 0.00 ; 12.51' ; 25.43'

Fixed Signs -- 8.34' ; 21.26'

Mutable Signs -- 4.17' ; 17.09'

I would advise using an orb of only one degree,
although other astrologers have found a two degree orb to be effective.

<Other books I have mention an orb of 2 to up to 3>

end/Quote

CARDINAL signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn.
FIXED signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius.
MUTABLE signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces.

NOTE-- You can "round-up" each one of those degrees.
0.00 = 1 Degree, or 1st Degree
12.51' = 13 Degrees, or 13th Degree
25.43' = 26 Degrees, or 26th Degree
8.34' = 9 Degrees, or the 9th Degree
21.26' = 22 Degrees, or 22nd Degree
4.17' = 5 Degrees, or the 5th Degree
17.09' = 18 Degrees, or the 18th Degree

I use a period ( . ) to substitute for Degree symbol because I don't have it on my keyboard.

You can make the degree symbol show up after any number by holding [ALT] and typing 0176.
