This might be a stupid question to ask but I was wondering when you read either Horoscopes or readings about zodiac do you read both Rising and Sun, or do you start by Rising because of the houses, when does the Sun Sign gets affected ? maybe by degrees or something? I get really confused a lot of times with this, both resonate.

There's really no rule on that. It's really a matter of the subjective focus of the person reading the chart. What the chart reader is first drawn to intuitively at that point in time.

With horoscopes.. I would 'mainly' read/listen to my Ascendant (aka Rising Sign).

Gives more accuracy as far as your 'issues of life' concerns.

You have to know your own chart. It's always best to have it printed out and available, until you've learned your own chart really really well.

I would stick to placidus house system, and REALLY get to know that one, over the more-general whole-chart, if you are really looking for more accuracy.

The Sun Sign chart (Sun) is Solar Whole-Houses. Usually starts at 0-degrees of the sign, through 29+.
When they do the 'Sun' signs, they read those as though 0-degrees is the Rising Sign (or Ascendant) ...
Gem H1 ... Sag H7 ...
GemH1, CancerH2, LeoH3, Virgo is H4, etc.

My own Sun is 7+ in Gemini,
in the 6th House Taurus.
My Ascendant is 11+ Sagittarius.
(intercepted houses)
Many times, the Capricorn Rising horoscopes will apply better (for slower planet transits). (Depends on the degree of transiting planets.)

I listen to the SUN sign for the 'general good flavor' of what's going on with my Sign.

But I do the Rising Sign/ASC for more SPECIFICS.

Because I have 'interceptions' ... Sometimes I have to read/listen to BOTH signs that are filling in my 1st House.

Sagittarius Rising...
My Ascendant is Sagittarius, 11.30.
I have Capricorn IN that 1st House...
all the way up to 15.48'21"
(my 2nd House cusp = 15.48 Capricorn).

explaining "interceptions" for people who haven't learned about how those work.

I have 'interceptions' in my 3rd House and the 9th House.

First!
As you know, the houses run in polarities (pairs)
1 is across from 7 / this is ASC/Descendant
2 is across from 8
3 is across from 9

4th is across from 10th / this is the IC/MC
5 is across from 11
6 is across from 12

Those make up all the 12 Houses (pie-chart divisions) of the circular natal chart.
{I can say more here... but I'll stay on interceptions.}

back to explanation .....

My chart........

Third House (with Interception)
Aquarius 25+ starts the 3rd Cusp H3..
(ALL of the Pisces degrees 0.00 to 29.59'59" {30 degrees} are included in the middle)..
then H3 finishes off after a few degrees of Aries, to 2.31 IC=H4.

So...
My 3rd House goes from Aqua 25.56'59" to Aries 2.31

AQUARIUS 25+ /all Pisces Degrees/ Aries 2+ = 3rd House

{I usually use the "plus sign +" to indicate that the number is longer than that. Not using 'whole' degree, which is one number UP.}

Same thing goes for the 9th House
(paired across from the 3rd House).

My Leo 9th House Cusp STARTS at LEO 25.56'59"
(then, ALL the Virgo degrees, in the middle)
then, a few degrees of Libra at the end,
to Libra 2.31 MC(H10).

I happen to have my MOON located towards the end of those Virgo degrees (24.56). ..

That's called an 'intercepted' planet-- actually, Sun and Moon are called "luminaries."

So....

Some times of the year...
Even though I'm a Gemini Sun ...
listening/reading the "Sagittarius" horoscopes will 'match' my houses (issues of life).
Other times the "Capricorn" horoscopes will describe my house transits.

Example....
transiting planet Pluto has been in zodiac sign of Capricorn.
It is at 20+ degrees now.
It has already entered my H2 at 15+.

transiting Saturn is at the start of its travel through Capricorn.
It is at 5+ Capricorn.
therefore, is still at work in my 1st House,
until it gets to 15+ degrees,
where it will cross the line into my 2nd House.
It will then be a 2nd House transit Saturn.

So! If I hear of a transit involving transiting Saturn right now (5+)?..
I listen/read the 'Capricorn Horoscopes',
as it is located in my H1.

If tPluto 20+ aspects are highlighted,
then I read/listen to my Sagittarius Rising H1 'scopes, as tPluto crossed into H2 Capricorn at 15+.
tPluto is a 2nd house transiting Pluto.

I have Scorpio cusps for my 11th and 12th House Cusps.

tJupiter in Scorpio.. just left my 11th, and has entered my 12th house.
{Scorpio AND Sagittarius are in my 12th}
With Scorpio in the sign before Sagittarius.
tJupiter will remain in my 12th house (except after it retrogrades back into the 11th)..
Until Jupiter crosses the first 10+ degrees of Sagittarius, it will still be a H12 Jupiter.

Next year (Jan 2019), Jupiter reaches my Ascendant (Rising) Degree where I will read for a H1 Jupiter, instead of H12 transiting Jupiter in aspects.
(Aspects to other transiting planets, AND to any planets in my natal chart.)

Hope that helps explain some info that may have been missed!
Soooo much to learn.

General Transit .. to know the ease and stressors for ALL charts, all skies.

Solar (SUN) for General purposes for those of the same sign.

Rising Sign .. for more specifics to Issues (various areas) of your Life that you might find accented at the time.

I read the sun moon rising and midheaven sign. My sun sign horoscope is never really accurate but the one for my moon rising and midheaven is almost always spot on even though i have used different horoscope apps.

Areesquivel ... always my pleasure to help folks understand details that can be hidden or easily missed.

Adds tons of possibility when you can really get down to the details of 'how it works'.

Learning astrology is a layer-by-layer process. You will find that you can go over and over the same material, and find nuances you hadn't seen before.

The deeper you understand the basics, the more clear other parts of astrology will become. You'll grow by leaps and bounds!

(You made my day! )

I am Leo ASC, but cancer sun horoscopes suit me better, I just need to keep in mind that houses would shift for a little bit.

I don't read ""horoscopes"". They're stupid generalizations.

They are actually based on a regular chart taking the sign as the first house and using transits as the events happening, yes is generalise we would take into consideration natal placements, but i think the energy in general of the horoscope can be somehow true.

Many ""horoscopes"" don't regard transits as a thing, actually the ones most people read are literally just random descriptions for the sun signs based on their generalized traits, lol. The ones that use transits are still inaccurate, as house placements and aspects within the Natal chart is still very relevant.

I think any general energy can be somehow true, because it's general and can apply to everyone who's walked on this earth. However getting accurate, precise details right to a T is harder and more impressive

It depends on which app you use. Some horoscope creators take the Sun sign and make it so that it is the first house of the chart. Essentially, they make a solar or noon chart and then write interpretations for each horoscope like that. While it's obviously not accurate 100%, I think it makes sense to do it like this. If you think about it,

The ASC is our image but let's say we have an image for each planet in our chart. The good horoscopes take this into account, and so they basically give each sign an ASC or an image. This is why I read the horoscope for my sun moon rising and midheaven. The one for my sun is never really accurate but my moon rising and MC are always so accurate! It's crazy. Also, hope I didn't explain that too weird. I hope you get what I'm saying lol.

I don't follow those horoscopes in magazines and fashion blogs though. You can tell most of their information is from Tumblr.
