OK my best friend from high school and sister are both cancers and they were a bit tomboyish in their younger years. I have a cancer friend that is feminine but her style is a bit tomboyish and she is in her 20s.

I have noticed that a lot of my clients who are cancer identify as tomboyish or have memories of been tomboyish when they were younger.

I am seeing a pattern that I find veryyyyy intriguing.

I get the sense that initially this sign in a sense rejects their gender yet the moon rules emotions and is suppose to represent the feminine archetype.

I can no longer ignore this pattern. When these cancer women embrace more their feminine side they do it bc they like boys more so than a true innate genuine desire and then they end up enjoying it but is a process getting to that point.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this, anyone. Whether you are a cancer woman or not. Has anybody else noticed this?

well in the case of cancer asc, this is more so because they quite often have Aries on the mc.

With cancer suns this is probably because the pure masculine energy of the sun is being fueled with the pure feminine energy of the moon.

In cancer moon, they would be be feeling the effects of moon phases more often and in a more intense way than others so this could also explain why they seem to shift from masculine and feminine energy so much.

I like to do switch-a-roos! LOVE LOVE dressing in suits and ties but with a feminine touch! Then I can do a complete 180 and dress very girly. It's fun because some people become very flustered and confused and some even angry because they thougth they had me all figured out LOL

i am cancer sun-venus-mars (all conjunct) and widely conjunct gemini moon... i thought was my moon in gemini ruling the cancer planets and mercury my only chart dispositor

I wonder if it has to do with the fact that Gemini is the shadow side from cancer (antiscia). at the teen years it may be easier to identify with that side of cancer...

^^Interesting...

Perhaps is all three that the antiscia is in Gemini for Sun in Cancers folks and that with cancer suns the pure masculine energy of the sun is being fueled with the pure feminine energy of the moon and last that the MC for cancer is Aries.

I like the theory of cancers having MC in Aries.

Even if you don't have a rising sign there, the natural house system impacts your sun sign I have noticed.

There is something about cancer women that even though they are sensitive and watery they have this warrior aspect to them that I feel comes from the natural ruler of their MC been in Aries.

My MC is Scorpio.

Cancer is the higher Ascendant of the universe and is connected to the public.

On the other hand Gemini's tend to be very feminine, and their antiscia would be Taurus right?

I am not talking about your MC specifically but the natural MC of cancer. Like if you have cancer rising your MC is in Aries but all people who have Sun in cancer resonate with that energy of MC in Aries to some extent bc that is the natural MC ruler for Cancer (I think so anyways)

Hope that makes more sense.

LOL yes, I used to, not exactly tomboy but back in the early 2000's and the whole emo era began I guess I started to dress more to that rocker punk side and NOT very feminine, so yeah, must admit that happened when I was between 18 and 22

No. Astrology doesn't work like that. There's no "natural MC of Cancer". Also, I must additionally contest to that statement as a Cancer Ascendant in its late degrees has a Taurus MC.

MC = Career / Reputation Ascendant = Self / You. The Ascendant should suffice enough to be the tell of an individual's character, no?

BTW, these calculations are based on the actual locations of the constellations.

Capricorn is the Descendant of the universe and Cancer is the Ascendant of the universe.

Here's a horoscope based on those positions

We are not understanding each other I feel. Its ok, we are talking about DIFFERENT things.

I have seeing very experienced astrologers use the house system of rising signs in the context of the Sun. I did not come up with that on my own. I guess that is where the astrology is an ART in addition to a science comes in and where we can agree to disagree bc I found that approach personally very telling and interesting. Its complementary.

This astrologer Jewel who has this channel called Truth in Aspect Astrology uses that technique to enhance her interpretations further and she is super smart and very analytical, I personally like that approach.

No problem or worries . I don't need you to agree with me lol.

You do seem to agree about the tomboyish phase thing as you confirmed you went through that yourself though.

Hmmmmm...this is very interesting.

Either tomyboyish in dress, attitude OR their figure, I would say.

Just thinking of the different types of Cancer women I've known in my life...

My sister-in-law has a very full figure, but is very "plain" otherwise...she can get dressed up when necessary, but doesn't put much effort into her appearance day to day. She can very much roll out of bed and go about her day type of thing.

My Cancer friend has a very narrow, shapeless figure. She dresses very plain also. Not necessarily "boyish" but never overtly sexy.

My Cancer co-worker is very much into sports. Kind of a "guy's girl" that way.

Another Cancer co-worker of mine does embrace her femininity in style and dress, but is also a "guy's girl" with a mouth like a sailor!

The people I always see as being naturally feminine without even trying are people influenced by Venus (for obvious reasons) either Taurus or Libra. They can wear a garbage bag and still exude an essence of femininity in my opinion.

I am a Cancer Sun. I don't think I was a tomboy, but I did cut my hair short when I was 8 (like a boy), and I dressed as a man for costumes.

My sister is a Cancer ASC, very very feminine. No tomboy phase at all.

But we are both strong women- and I definitely resonate with the warrior side of things.

Yes or venus in pisces...my coworker has venus in pisces with moon in libra and social dynamics come so naturally to her its quite her strength, everyone feels so comfortable and at ease with her. She exudes naturally this femininity in how she dresses ect..

She has made me understand the power of having innate excellent social skills. I admire, like her a lot but am a tad be jealous but at this point I am growing to have real genuine affection and appreciation for her, she is very kind and is innate and genuine.

Yes I imagine it does not apply to all cancers but is a tendency I see for sure. Its often just a phase, usually before it hits their teen years or up to their early teens, as they reach their mid teen years it starts to fade away and they start to embrace more their womanhood and can look and act quite feminine once they embrace that but I feel they are reluctant at first and reject their gender in a level at first developmentally, at first it doesn't feel 100% natural.

Cancer sun in the 10th house. I was very much a tomboy growing up and in my teen years the prisest tomboy you could ever know. My latter years still tomboy but feminine when I need to be.

What I disliked initially about astrology was the generalisations like Sun in that sign are like this or that.. which means almost 1/12 of billions of people are like that which is practically impossible, people are more complex.
If you talked about an aspect or something more specific it could make sense.

I am myself a Cancer Sun, Mercury and ASC.
I know also 6 other Cancer girls and we are all far from being tomboys.
Suprisingly (according to the replies in here) the 3 tomboys I've known (and they are both appearance and personality wise, if you could say that, tomboys) are Taurus (2 of them, I don't know about the rest of their chart) and the other one is Gemini Sun, Mercury, ASC and Taurus Moon.

So all the 6 cancer girls you know, you know them well enough to know that they never went through a phase of been tomboyish during their preteen years?? really? so you happen to know 6 cancer women that well?

I did say there is tendency for this to happen with this sun sign more so than other sun signs, I never said it applies to all sun in cancer women by any means.

More so than being tomboys, Cancers are prone to going through PHASES of dressing out of character (dyeing the hair, wearing rings over the body, getting tattoos, cutting the hair short, wearing grungey clothes and vintage fashions, wearing flannels and jeans everyday, etc). But they almost always go back to their natural feminine attire, as it is almost always just a phase with them. I believe this is what OP means. And, even then, all the Cancers I know still retain a very feminine take on this out-of-character behavior. They will get nose rings and tattoos and other dramatic things done but in a very pretty and classy/girly way, like tiny finger tattoos and baby bud nose rings, etc.
