I was thinking about how all my friends with Leo Rising have the same house placements of generational planets as me (Pluto in 4th, Neptune / Uranus in 6th, Saturn in 7th) and wondering how this extends to rising signs of each generation. Does each rising sign get treated and perceived differently from generation to generation because they have different outer house placements? I.e.: In the Pluto Cancer generation, Cancer risings will usually have Pluto in the 1st and would therefore be perceived as more intense than Cancer risings in other generations. And the entire generation has a different view of Cancer risings because they grew up with Cancer risings who have Pluto in the 1st. In my personal example, the Leo risings of my age group have Pluto in the 4th and Uranus-Neptune in the 6th which surely affects the outer 'persona.' But it's hard to explain exactly how we would perceive certain rising signs differently than generations prior.. it's like a subtle collective energy shift. Because Leo risings will always be Leo risings and so on, it's just interesting to think that growing up, almost every Leo rising I went to school with would have had Pluto in the 4th. I guess my other question is, Is it the Pluto in the 4th, Uranus/Neptune in 6th that makes the Leo rising personality? It's like the house placements sort of dictate WHY the rising signs are the way they are... Like are Leo risings loud and gregarious and self centered because our home environments were messed up (Pluto in 4th)? While in other generations, Leo risings are loud and gregarious because they have Pluto in the 3rd which is more about intense communication? Of course these are generalizations, but you know what I mean

You bring up good questions and good points, but the outer planets in a particular rising sign does not change the sign mode, so much as present another horoscope factor for particular individuals such as say Pluto in Cancer conjunct or parallel the Asc. This does not change the rising sign characteristics for a whole generation. It is an individual chart factor of planet in house placement and/or aspect to the Asc. So while we may be aware that Pluto in Cancer can make for certain pronounced qualities -- this applies to particular individuals. For example, Pluto parallel Asc in Cancer in the chart of Christine Jorgensen. Not everyone in that generation had Pluto conjunct or parallel Asc if they were Cancer rising. So rather than generalize as if they did, it is important to know and discern the differences based on the exact, correct Asc. It is about changing sign-based thinking to planet-based thinking. Planets are primary. Signs are their background. ------------------ "Drift like a cloud and flow like water, seeing that all life is a magnificent illusion, a playing of energy, and there is absolutely nothing fundamentally to be afraid of." -- Alan Watts Soul Stars Astrology by The Declinations Guy Expert Rectification IP: Logged |

Well I'm Virgo rising with Pluto in the 1st and tr. Pluto in the 4th (has been there forever). Many of my generation have Virgo rising (not to mention it is a sign of long ascension)which meshes with the Virgo/ Libra outer planet pattern from the 60s/ 70s. Whereas my mother has Leo rising, which goes well with her Pluto Leo (and not very well with her Scorpio and Taurus planets). So yes, the Ascendant is always going to give extra flavour to what you've already got in your chart. Depending on how it plays out with your outer planets. IP: Logged |
