Hello everyone. People associate the devil card in tarot with capricorn and I wonder if you get easily obsessed?I tend to get obsessed with people and have obsessive thoughts about them. Its unhealthy. What is the difference between capricorn and pluto energy when it comes to that? I dont have much scorpio/pluto influences so I guess people might be right associating this sign to the devil card?IP: Logged |

Try reading the Thoth deck's interpretation of the Devil to better understand Saturn's influence. Associating it with "Obsession" is misinformation, traditionally its Lust or Dominion.

I'll have a go -I can understand Saturn - and therefore Cap - being obsessive. Saturn is time and matter: therefore, long term planning and strategising for material outcomes is Saturn's domain. For an outcome to materialise a complex plan that involves time, and the possibility of practical matters interfering with the desired outcome must be accounted for. This is known as timelining and probability speculation. A lot of effort and mental commitment is applied to seeing an outcome materialise (for example: whether a business goal or romantic target). The mind then could easily become "obsessed" with such timelining: 1. with the amount of planning required over a time frame, and with many moving parts to consider, account for, and possibly negate (time and matter) 2. as time passes, and much effort has been contributed, the greater the mental attachment to the outcome becomes. Have you ever planned for something and the more you put into it, the more anxious you get about things working out? This is because of the commitment and investment you've already put in over time. And why and how Saturn is so recognised as the glue in relationships. I'm not sure about Scorpio.. I never understand them really.

I'd say the primary reason the Devil is associated with Capricorn in Tarot is because the imagery of the card is a Satyr. A Satyr is half man, half goat, and in antiquity, was an entity that was responsible for sexual carnality/earthly delights. A Capricorn is essentially represented as a seagoat. Rather than obsession or jealousy, I do tend to think of the Devil card as raw sexuality/unrestrained sensuality. Mars is exalted in Capricorn afterall. IP: Logged |

I'm extreeemly capricornian and saturn heavy. Sun, mercury and venus in cap, saturn in 1st, plus sun and mercury opposite saturn. Nothing in scorpio except uranus...BUT even my scorpio friends call me intense :-) Definitely very obsessive personality, I'd say I look very much like a classic capricorn, but emotionally I fit the description of a moon in scorpio (but I'm actually moon in virgo). My explanation is I have sun square pluto and ascendant square pluto, pluto sits in my 4th house together with ascendant ruler moon. But I think the most decisive factor to me may be that pluto is the focal point of my natal t-square. So in your case, what kind of aspects does pluto make in your chart, and what's it's placement? I'd also take a look whether it is an important part of a major configuration like a t-square.IP: Logged |

I've never considered Caps as intense.
I have 3 placements in Scorpio and 2 planets in my 8H. I am definitely a Plutonic person. I get told a lot that I am intense. Very obsessive.. I have no Capricorn in my chart..

Sorry, doesn't it makes sense? It was very early morning Caps like to strategise, that's all. And they commit to their plans, and so can become "obsessive". Obsessive is different to intense. IP: Logged |

I do...especially when I am stressed and have way less time for outlets. The more I try to fight it and block it the worse it gets. I have given up so many of my outlets with going back to college and teaching. Thank God I have a break from work and college around the corner. I have the Capricorn stellulum of Uranus and Neptune in my 8th house plus Saturn in my 9th house. Scorpio Moon conjunct pluto in house 6th I’m also an Aries. IP: Logged |

not so much obsessed as they are persistent and don't give up. My sister is a Cappy and she sticks on things or people like a glue if she decided they are worthy. IP: Logged |

That is what I call determination which yes a significant percentage of Caps are determined but most are not obsessive unless they are plutonic. Obsession has to do with desire and has a compulsive quality and addictive traits, its different from determination which comes from a more sober and grounded internal space. Obsession hints to your shadow side and lights up for you what kind of shadow work you need to get done, if you do the work it leads to transformation. Determination comes from a place of clarity and discipline. IP: Logged |

Never been obsessed. Determined to reach MY goal? Yes! Take note that I said MY goal and not somebody else’s. I find that Cappies more want to reach the bottom of things which might also be translated to heights. Sexually I think they desire raw emotions and passions where all else is stripped away. Kinda animalistic. IP: Logged |

Hi hypatia238,I may agree, but I think this definition could be splitting hairs a bit. Most people would not have such a fine distinction on the definition and could easily label Capricorn's "dedication" as obsessive. Correctly or not. In synastry IMO, when those Saturn aspects kicks in, you could definitely view Saturn's response - or dedication - as obsessive. And yes, obsessing over a relationship or anything wanted applies.

Hi TaurusVenusGirl, I should have clarified further, my point wasn't that I think capricorns are obsessive personalities as such. But rather, when they are, it will be due to some natal pluto aspects/position (or planets in scorpio) which cause the obsessive personality traits. Most of the capricorns I know are not at all intense or obsessive personalities. I have just noticed in my chart that I have also the ruler of my 8th house is conjunct my ascendnant. IP: Logged |
