He is neptunian with venus in the 12H for one. He also has Mars conjunct IC so both his Chart ruler Venus and Mars are closely connected to Water houses/angles.

In fact mars rules his DC angle which has to do with one on one interactions and dynamics and it conjuncts his IC which is a very vulnerable and sensitive point in the chart.

I conclude that Mars ruling his DC and conjuncting his IC would make him highly sensitive to interpersonal dynamics and what people think of him or say to him.

Also neptune in the 3rd house near the IC I think makes him likely to take things said to him and communication dynamics maybe too personally or to misunderstand communication and interpret social cues and communication from his emotional mind, specially when you add that DC ruler is Mars near the IC. These two things can make it so he misunderstands things and takes them personally.
