Because you have to look at the overall Synastry, e.g. if my Moon trine someone's Venus but also square their Pluto/Saturn, I don't think my Moon will feel that happy even with the very sweet trine to their Venus. But if my Moon trine their Venus and also sextile their Moon/Neptune/angles, THAT definitely is a much better emotional connection.

I agree with Helix's suggestion on pattern completions. Whenever someone's Virgo planet turns my Moon-Mars-Venus t-square into a grand cross, it gets my attention. This has been proven in 2 of my romantic relationships and that is why I attract so many Virgos (also friends).

However, I won't look at just Sun conjunct the angles and it's not just to ASC-DSC. IC contact is also good and I would include Moon, Venus & Jupiter as well, or Saturn for a strong commitment.
