I’m wondering how much significance Pluto gives to a person’s chart. I understand that aspects play a big role and that there are a plethora of things that constitute a person’s physical and inner characteristics. But I’m wondering whether Pluto, being the intense and powerful planet that it is, colors a person’s chart with more intensity than, let’s say, mercury, even if mercury is coupled with several aspects to other planets/angles?
For example, someone with a lot of Sagittarius, Libra, or Leo in their chart would most likely come off as positive, cheerful, bubbly even. But if their Pluto was in the 1st house, or Moon was in Scorpio, or even a moon in 8th house, would that be significant enough to at times overshadow the multiple fire or air aspects?
Just curious how much Pluto affects the chart even it’s just hanging out there, solo.

Pluto gives strong personal power, when it is well aspected. I love Pluto. I would be dog manure without it.

Yes, I’m beginning to love Pluto a lot more now, the more I have begun to read about it.

It's very individualized based on how strong each planet is in that person's chart (and history of soul development).

quote:

Depends on what aspects Pluto makes. But in most cases, no, Pluto would not be more influential than Mercury.

quote:

For example, someone with a lot of Sagittarius, Libra, or Leo in their chart would most likely come off as positive, cheerful, bubbly even. But if their Pluto was in the 1st house, or Moon was in Scorpio, or even a moon in 8th house, would that be significant enough to at times overshadow the multiple fire or air aspects?

Again, it depends on what types of aspects Pluto makes. In these scenarios if Pluto were in the 1st and making only flowing aspects there would be a more internalized anchoring of the person's energies with some counter-balancing introversion. If Pluto were making strong, hard aspects like squares to Sun/Mars/Jupiter, etc, the person may be more outwardly expressive of those energies in a way that could channel a lot more of the Plutonian energy into ambition, winning, domination, etc -- at least with the fiery charts.

Moon being a luminary, if it were in Scorpio, would also anchor a person's feeling energies more internally, creating a more outwardly placid personality even with a relatively fiery chart. Some exceptions could be seen, however, with a strongly fiery/Jupiter chart. I knew just such a person who was a Sagittarius female and was surprised to see that her Moon was in Scorpio. Such a person may have periods of quiet and reflection in which their mood is more internalized in spite of their usual extroversion.

The general influence of the planets in traditional Indian (Vedic) estimation are:

1. Sun
2. Moon
3. Mars
4. Mercury
5. Jupiter
6. Venus
7. Saturn

I'm not sure what order I'd tack on the outer modern planets, but Pluto definitely has its influence. It's always individual, of course, and plenty of people will diverge from the above order for the traditional planets, but I'd tend to rate Pluto above Neptune, but maybe not above Uranus.

I found Pluto rules death in the chart. Squares from Pluto show people who go to extremes while the trines show people who are blessed.

A good example is the actor Charlton Heston. He has Venus square Sun, Saturn and Pluto in Libra/Cancer. He lived his life chasing the idea of landing a goddess woman but ended up becoming a murdering monster. He was also married to a man who dressed in drag and lied on tv about it to everyone. So you can see how Pluto squares deal people a bad life.

What Kannon said. But to add/expand a bit.

Generally though, Angularity in some form or another is going to amplify more than even most aspects.

For example, I have Pluto in the 3rd. The 3rd is a Cadent house which for most planets, except for Mercury, is a very weak area--one of the weakest/most in the background. (parts of the 6th and 12th even more so).

This just means that Planets in these areas are more unconscious in the psyche and/or more latent/less active in the life, type energies.

But in self's case, Pluto is actually moderately highlighted. Because, to counter balance out the Cadency placement, Pluto has some strong aspects to some rather important sensitive/receptive symbols in this chart.

Pluto is relatively closely square my Sun which is my chart ruler, and is nearly exactly trine Venus which is the ruler of my Moon, Descendant and MC. So it gains strength/amplification i.e. conscious awareness and/or activeness in the life via these (a weak sextile to the Asc contributes a bit).
And even a bit less important but still a factor, Pluto co-rules an Angle (Scorpio IC). So for Pluto to rule an Angle, an to be in strong aspect to the rulers of 3 other Angles it starts to override the Cadency placement some.

Hence why I call it moderately highlighted all in all.

This relative weighing of many different factors and variables is one of the harder things to master in doing charts.

Btw, how the Sun square Pluto ruling the 4th manifested for me, was growing up, I had an abusive step father that is a literal psychopath, and he made my life a bit of a living hell for about 11 years of my childhood. At one point, I started to become very angry--really more so full of rage, and at one point I had to step back, take a good, objective, and conscious look at self to see that in some ways I was becoming like him. Thankfully I'm an older/more mature Soul, and even in my teen years had enough self awareness to realize this, because it could have gotten bad.

I also have power struggle run ins with authority figures or people who have power over me, once in awhile. Usually they're playing Pluto and I'm playing the Sun.

I have a tendency to be a little over bearing and pushy at times when it comes to mental perception, communication, and intellect (Pluto in 3rd), so I have to consciously observe and check self at times when in interactions with others. In a past life, I had a lot of authority and power, and while I usually used it in a positive and helpful way in relation to others, sometimes that subconscious memory can come out a bit autocratic.

Thankfully the ruler of Pluto's Sign and the 3rd House, Venus, is in that very close trine aspect to Pluto. That helps to balance that out some with self awareness and a desire for harmony.

Have had a rather intense relationship life in some ways--including being with one twin soul and having met and fallen in love with another who are from the same half of Spirit whose the other half of my half of Spirit. Both connections have been very intense and very transformative in a lot of deep ways. And also quite painful at times.

Oh, and one of the common traits/tendencies of stronger/more highlighted Pluto is a certain amount of self centerdness/focus...clearly But real world examples do help a person to better understand how this all works in real life--hence, it was not all for ego's sake, but more because self knows self better/more clearly than any other.

I'm Pluto dominant. Even though it only makes 3 aspects in my whole chart. Jupiter and Neptune are in the 8H and Pluto is conjunct my moon and vertex in the 6H leading a stellium in scorpio. It's also opposite my chart ruler mercury, and sextiles Neptune.

Because it's such a heavy player in my chart my life has been very "plutonic". Right down to my terrible mother (common theme with moon/Pluto) and being conjunct my vertex, it's probably not going to end until my next life.

Also, Pluto tends to run in families. All of my siblings have a "hades moon" along with my mother and both of my sons have a strong Pluto placement in their charts.

I believe that Pluto is the most challenging planet that you need to work with. But it is definitely rewarding.

I have begun working consciously on my Pluto parallel my Moon in Aries in 5th and yes. I have made some small, yet so rewarding steps. I know it is the most difficult job, but I have already started walking this path.
