Hello!
Wanted to ask if anybody knows what are some markets for deppresion and weak ego in mams chart. My boyfriend has been strugilling with on and off depression for most of his adult life, has recently resurfaced. He has had incredibly dofficult childhood. The only thing I see that I could connect this with is the mars square neptune, since mars represents mans ego and vitality, could that be, his mars is also sesquiqadrate saturn I think. I will post his birth chart now so you can take a look, I added a few asteroids.. I would apprecuate if anybody can take a look and maybe see why he has problems with deppresion..

His Venus (Lagna/6th Lord), Moon (3rd Lord) and Sun (4th Lord yet NeechBhang when conjunct exalted 9/10th Lord Saturn) are debilitated in Sidereal [vedic] astrology.

His Sun is conjunct Saturn. Saturn will put a lot of pressure on the Sun. Anything Saturn touches with a hard aspect will put some pressure on the planet.
Its not just that. Moon is in square to Venus/Mars.
Adding the childhood problems. You could look at transits too. A transit got me into depression, but I had some background problems too, so...

Anyone can experience some depression at certain times of life. So it relates more to the timing of transits (possibly progressions) than on just the natal chart.

What he's going through is mostly from two major transits:

1. Most important and long-term: Pluto parallel natal Moon +/-23° south and natal South Lunar Node. This is going to last a while -- a couple decades. He's going to have to grow through it via increasing internal awareness of his moods, motivations, and unfinished (emotional) business. It presents the opportunity to purge himself of what is unhealthy, whatever has eaten at him for years, maybe even things he came into this life with that have remained entirely subconscious.

One of the biggest lessons is to learn how to let go (of ____) ...

This combination strongly suggests his past is catching up to him -- internally at least. Any baggage will get heavier and heavier. If he is carrying resentments (against self or others) they will wear him down physically and psychologically. This transit intensifies and concentrates feelings, which can enable some insights into oneself -- IF there is willingness. Otherwise, moods intensify with or without much insight as to the cause or reason.

This transit dredges up old unresolved issues and can leave many people feeling as if they've regressed emotionally. With Pluto also in trine to natal Mars and having just begun its trine to natal Venus, many of these feelings may seek solace in lovemaking and social life. But the parallel to natal Moon will continue long after those transits are over. He needs real insights as to what his personality and and life pattern are based on, and what needs to change.

If the Asc of this chart is basically accurate, then Pluto is also transiting contra-parallel to it at +/- 22° south. That can mean changes in relation to others to the degree that there is not power sharing. So this is a complex set of transits that will take place in the next few years as the deeper transit to Moon continues. That transit can have even the most normally optimistic person down in the dumps at certain points, and experiencing moods that are hard to articulate or change. It will likely require the help of a therapist at some point unless he can harness enough proactive spiritual practice to create exactly the kind of balance and internal calm that is so very difficult during this transit.

2. Neptune square natal Moon. This transit has a way of heightening latent insecurities and doubts of self that are normally covered up. There's quite a bit of ego in Moon in Sagittarius (especially for men), so that is part of the purpose of Neptune's transit to it: eroding unbecessary ego in the process of facing what it covers up (insecurities, misconceptions of self, feelings of neglect). Men are typically not as in touch with their internal state, especially their real needs. So this is a period of life (for a year or two longer) in which getting more clear on his internal moods and their causes is very important.

This transit combined with the one by Pluto may lend him to denial as a modus operandi -- at least until that fails.

Thank you! This resonates strongly whit how he describes it.. he is in a very rough place so it is really affecting our relationship but we will try to stay strong. It is very difficult to see your partner going trough this and it is also affecting me.. hope he goes trough this..

I wish him peace and healing.

If you tell him about the astrological factors, tell him the Pluto transit to natal Moon is about finding inner strength -- and deeper balance at the same time. It's a judo move, very difficult to learn. It takes time and if he can learn an effective method of balancing his energy (at the energy level) then it will be far easier.

Isolation is not good. It is important that he be around pleasant (if not 'sunny') and supportive company.
