Yes, there’s so much in astrology that’s why people study it for years and still don’t know everything.
What you’re talking about is not really a popular concept in modern astrology:

Also, that’s why I’m not into traditional astrology:

Humanistic astrology honors the value of self determination. You have to understand that astrology is archetypally reliable and predictive. However, there can be enormous flexibility in the ways that these archetypal principles express themselves in (and within) a person’s life.”

Here is another simple article about difference modern and traditional astrology.
Even I believe in concepts of Vedic and old-fashion astrologies. Some old fashion astrologists are too judgmental by labeling everything as good or bad, and everything gloom and doom.
I love psychology. We all have dark sides. I’m learning to accept my dark sides. And modern astrology more embracing psychology and free will.

You cannot change your chart. It’s like your appearance, you need to work with what you have.
