I love reading, but I'm still having trouble focusing, a lot of the time. You could put both of those things down to my Moon conjunct Venus in Gemini (also conjunct the South Node).

A Taurus I've mentioned, reads a lot, but my dad who has a few similar placements to him, doesn't like to read, unless he has newspapers in front of him. He doesn't mind audiobooks, but will also turn off the radio, when he's had enough of listening to people talk. He's really smart, he just doesn't like to read books.

I am only starting this, because I'm trying to really get back into the habit of reading, rather than skipping around things. I have a lot of books to read, that I own, but I'm not feeling settled enough mentally or physically today. I have ordered in a handful of books, one that I've read before (The Time Traveler's Wife), and one that has been recommended a lot, but I'm not sure that it's for me (A Court of Thorns and Roses). A woman I follow, started a book club, and they had a meeting last week, but I missed it, because I haven't read any of them.

I was just wondering if anyone here reads a lot, and what you like. Or if you don't like to read at all... but as I'm typing, I'm thinking that this was covered in another thread. Not recently.

My Sagittarius mother loved to read. She's the one who got me started, when I was little.

I've read 1984, years ago, plus others like it. I have a couple of Vonnegut books out of the library, including Slaughterhouse Five. That's one that I need to get back to them soon.

I don't think ACOTAR is going to be for me, but I'll give it a chance.

I found a book by Adam Schiff, so that came home with me, along with "Such a Fun Age."

I read a lot of health-related books. Last night, I finished The Invisible Kingdom. I read that in two days. Two years ago, I got through the last Hunger Games book, when I was reading just before dawn. I got into a little routine, and it worked for a few weeks.

“1984” - maybe, my favorite book!
That excerpt where he loved Big brother in the end after all impressed me much so I’ve been remembering it many years after. (maybe, not precisely).

I used to read much as a child. Nowadays, it’s mostly for work, school, business, or self-help. I didn’t read fiction for a while.

Jupiter Trine Sun.

Books are a great and inexpensive way to learn new things.

I've tried udemy, I can't stand listenting to someone going over the obvious for 1hr when I can just read it in a book in under 15min.

I normally read technical books though, so I guess that whould kill the fun of reading for most people.

I know a lot of people sell there textbooks after university.. I still keep them for quick reference and re read.

One of my most cherished books and I recommended it to anyone that can find it at there local libary for free is:

Weather, Climate and Climate Change: Human Perspectives (any edition)
http://www.amazon.ca/Weather-Climate-Sheila-Loudon-Ross/dp/019902135X/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2LTNZ8VD6OTJU&keywords=weather+and+climate&qid=1652855293&sprefix=Weather+and+Climate%2Caps%2C

Read this book and you'll be relying less on the weather report from the news and you'll be able to tell the Weather yourself.

Once you understand humidity, how clouds are formed, the types of clouds and the types of weather associated with each type...you can generaly look out the window and figure out if it will rain or not.

If there's no clouds it obviously can't rain,
Off topic I'm sorta a Cloud Geek from that book.

3rd house Gem with North node there. I am always reading and finding out little titbits about stuff that spark my interest.

I don't read for the "joy" of reading. Infact,I wouldn't say I am an "avid" reader at all. But I do tend to randomly read stuff that I see laying about that have a subject matter that sparks my interest.

I tend to always want to LEARN. This even when I am reading about small things. My assumption is that this small knowledge acquired may be a key link to the "bigger" stuff I am wanting to make sense of (South Node in 9th)

So anything with BIG themes OR has a philosophical bent to it but is written in such a way, that it is light and relatable. Maybe even if presented in a story-telling format/ anecdotes which are metaphorical for larger themes?

HUGE fan of Credo Mutwa's "Indaba: My children." And he tells the stories in that book like he is talking to children. But the themes are HUGE as it is more metaphorical than literal.

Another favourite is "The Alchemist". Its deceptively simple to read but has an underlying layer to it that is more philosophical.

Mercury is in Cap. The author has to be succinct and use proper diction. No cliches, no moral highground. Just deliver the message from a detached perspective.

I am no fan of over-dramatization or a book that has so much going on , that I am lost in the middle of it. Keep it simple but fascinating 👌🏿

Gemini Mercury on the cusp of H9 trine Libra Ascendant and Pluto, square Virgo Moon. Sagittarius in H3 and Venus conjunct Jupiter. I love reading especially popular science books on a wide variety of topics like physics, psychology or history. I find it difficult to find enough time to read these days but I used to read a lot.

My favorites:
Foucault’s Pendulum - Umberto Eco
Godel, Escher and Bach - Douglas R. Hofstadter
On Human Nature - Edward O. Wilson
The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers - Paul Kennedy

My big 3 are Gemini Rising, Aries Sun, Scorpio Moon

I'm going to have a lot of down time to read books soon.

Long term transits I have are
Pluto transiting my 9th house
Neptune transiting 11th house
Uranus transiting 12th house

When my life gets less busy it takes me a while to get back into reading.

When I was in college I had to take American Literature. My favorite thing to read was Benjamin Franklin's writings.

Before I got busy I was reading a lot of Thomas Paine writings. One of my greaty great grandparents(times whatever) was cousin's with Thomas Paine.

I read the Disaster Artist

I've read Bridgett Jones Diary

I like some wholesome girl books like Anne of Green Gable's, A Little Princess, and Secret Garden

I also like morbid books like books about notorious serial killers, and the Fear St. Books.

Some aspects I have are
Sun Square Saturn
Jupiter oppose Uranus
Neptune sextile Pluto

I haven’t been in a reading mood lately at all, but I have a whole stack of mostly nonfiction books I’ve been meaning to get around to. Mycelium Running by Paul Stamets, Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, Blessed Unrest by Paul Hawken. Similar themes that I’ve enjoyed in the past- Biophilia by E.O. Wilson, Stolen Harvest by Vandana Shiva. I used to read science fiction and fantasy novels like other people watch TV — growing up, my house was full of Tolkien and Isaac Asimov and stuff like Dune and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe. More traditional fiction writers that I like are Ann Patchett, Barbara Kingsolver, and David Liss. A couple of my favorite children’s books growing up were The Giver and My Side of the Mountain.

I'll be back, but I forgot to mention that I'm reading The House in the Cerulean Sea, but I'm saving it for when my mood is already okay. I've spoken to people who said that they loved it SO much, one didn't want to start another book, so they wouldn't lose the feeling that they had when they were reading it. So, I'm feeling rather protective of my time with it.

I also got another book out of the library, by the same author, Under the Whispering Door.

I've always loved reading, I studied literature at uni, and now I work as a librarian. So books and reading are a huge part of my life. My home is full of books too.

I have Sun in Gemini 9th, Moon in Virgo 12th, with Mercury conjunct Mars on the Midheaven in Cancer. Full Sagittarius 3rd house too.

As a kid I preferred fantasy and sci-fi, anything that allowed for escape from the real world. Tolkien was my favorite author for a long time. Maybe my 3rd house Neptune, conjunct IC and opposite Mercury/Mars.

These days my taste is really eclectic. I read both fiction and non-fiction, but I've become really picky with my fiction so it's easier to find non-fiction that I really enjoy. When it comes to fiction I still have a strong fondness for books that in some way or other are remote from my lived reality. Books that take place either in (for me) exotic locations, other cultures, other times, or whole other worlds.

Latest novel that I read and really enjoyed was probably Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. Oh, and the Montrumologist series by Rick Yancey. Also all of Fredrik Backman's books! Especially Anxious People. Long time fictional favorites include everything by Neil Gaiman, especially Good Omens (with Terry Pratchett) and American Gods. Also Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Süskind, everything Sherlock Holmes, Sinuhe the Egyptian by Mika Waltari, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy...

when it comes to comics, Garfield is able to make me LMAO.

I liked reading Archie when I was a kid.

I also got to look at my friend's comic Jonny the Homicidal Maniac and I liked it.

I love the discworld books by Terry Pratchett. I think they’re hilarious. I’ve seen a couple of people mention “Hitchhiker’s guide to the Galaxy” and I enjoyed that as well. I would also recommend the foundation series by Isaac Asimov and the revelation space books by Alistair Reynolds.

Was a voracious reader starting young. Both for learning and for escape/imagination. For a long while, books were an an escape from a deeply and constantly stressful childhood. Especially loved fantasy, sci fi, and horror. Read Kings, "The Stand" in 7th grade. Favorite book series of all time is The Thomas Covenant Chronicles by Stephen R. Donaldson. Did very much enjoy Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series for the most part.

Read a lot of the classics like Dune. Apparently also read a fair amount of books I would later find out were classified as more romance, like Clan of the Cave Bear, Outlander series, etc. Think these probably contributed to being a better and more sensitive lover to some extent.

Chart factors. I guess things like chart ruler widely conjunct Mercury in the 5th House (5th is all about what we enjoy and find pleasure in, along with Venus patterns as well), 3rd House ruler Venus--angular and highest in the chart with very close aspects, strong Jupiter (ruler of the 5th) and somewhat highlighted 9th--ruler of same, Mars is also co-ruler of IC and is conjunct Jupiter, somewhat closely trine the Sun the chart ruler, and moderately trine Mercury in the 5th.

When both Mercury and Jupiter are simultaneously highlighted, you tend to see a real thirst for knowledge in a more holistic way. Besides them being individually highlighted in this chart, they are also in a -1 degree separation trine to each other.

Mercury more literally corresponds to words and language--especially in that more "left brain"/intellect sense.

I have a fair amount of yellow in my aura. But more of a golden cream type yellow than regular yellow (but even more purple than yellow. Purple, violets, etc being linked to Jupiter, Neptune, and/or Pisces).

LOL!!! I had a catholic upbringing. My mom sprinkled holy water in my room once when I wasn’t home. My sister told me.

Anton Levay is an Aries Sun w/ Mercury Taurus like me. As well as year of the metal horse and month of the metal dragon. I’ve been wanting to read it since I was 18. Not sure if it will resonate with me as strongly now.

Oh I think Anton Levey ended up dying in a Catholic hospital

I love to read. I'm a scroll beetle, book worm, literary ferret!

My favorite book is Brothers Karamazov and my favorite genres are mystery and biography. I esp love locked room and impossible mysteries.
I'm mostly a nonfiction reader, though.

Lately I've been into reading fiction from Twilight Zone writers, esp Richard Matheson and Charles Beaumont.

What did you do Stawr to warrant the holy water cleansing!?

In any case, probably nothing that bad I imagine. Kind of reminds me of a bumper sticker that my partner has on her car that reads, "God Wants Spiritual Fruits, not Religious Nuts."

I concur. My sense is that the Creative Forces don't care too much about our specific beliefs, UNLESS those beliefs interfere with a person treating others with kindness, respect, love, patience, tolerance, etc. How we treat and interact with others, is what the Creative Forces and our own Higher/Expanded selves seem to care most about.

When Howard Storm's body temporarily died and he, in Soul form, got to hang out with the Big "J" dude (well, actually Y, as in Yeshua) and his "band" that Storm called "The Angels", he asked them what was the best religion, fully expecting them to say, "Christianity".

He was surprised when they collectively answered (that is how he tended to receive his answers in general), "The one that brings you closest to God"

Hmmm Aries Sun with Taurus Mercury eh? So both Willful and Stubborn as all heck? Check, and check. Hasn't T. Uranus been hanging around your Mercury of late, with Mercury being your chart ruler?

Makes sense you'd be kind of rebelling in a sense during this time. Uranus loves to snub convention, norms, tradition, etc, and say, "Nah man, you can't tell ME what to believe and think, I DO WHAT I WANT."

And then cue this song:

My ICP phase probably warranted the holy water sprinkling.

That bumper sticker is funny!
Oh yes, I am willful and stubborn I hide it well with Taurus being in my 12th house! Yes I think Uranus has been conjuncting my Mercury for over a year now. I have ruling Mercury Taurus in 11 degrees.

While finishing this transit I told my mom yesterday "I like it when I only have to people no once, and not 8 times"

I really see Uranus oppose Moon transit playing out. Going to quit my job and travel with husband.

I have a Taurus moon friend who quit her real estate job and lives off the grid in Hawaii. She is going to visit soon, and I am going to see her at the beach in a few weeks. I think she has been doing this for a few years now.

The slide show with that video was cute.

I'm an insatiable reader. My Kindle library is massive. I love to read various genres. Sometimes I'm reading a classic, other times some sci-fi. One time it might be a historical novel, and the next a steamy romance. I'll read anything from manga to memoirs. It just depends on my mood, really.

I've got chart ruler Moon in Virgo conj. Pluto in the 3rd house.
They tightly square my Gem Sun conj. Gem Venus.
Mercury rules all those and is my 3rd house ruler. It's square Uranus and opposite Jupiter, though, which is probably why I bounce from genre to genre so much.

One of my favorite transits that I ever had was when transit Pluto was opposite my natal Mercury. I was like a mental excavator. I did such in-depth learning in that period. I learned more about astrology during that time than in any other before or since. My mind was like the Mariana Trench just being filled with detailed knowledge. I miss that transit so much. You guys who have it in your natal are blessed.

I am loving "Other Birds" and am close to finishing it. I've mostly been reading in the van, and just got out of an epsom salt bath, that helped me to get through several chapters.

I really like the author's books. I read most of them, seven years ago.
