I think the reason it takes so long to understand ourselves when our personal planets are in the 12th house is that we live in the physical world, focused on our basic 5 senses. We don't get taught how to go beyond that.

Yes, exactly this is a great analysis. It took me a while to realize and claim certain aspects of myself even when it was staring me right in the face and i`m another 12th house Moon, but when you start opening up your mind for it it`s so much you`ll start to see and understand about yourself. And not every placement you have in your chart is going to be you to a T and we all have it like that. Aquarius is not "just" a ball of detachment and that is all there is to them, they have so much more qualities to them than that like being progressive, intelligent, questioning traditions and "popular" opinions having the need to be different from the norm which is what OP has done plenty of times when it comes to this Moon placement where the "popular" opinion tends to be that this sign is more on the detached side. If you throw any "Airy" qualities at her she won`t claim it even when she is displaying it. For example what Aries23Degrees tried to explain to her here
