How many foreigners are member of lindaland? I wonder which countries are "represented" here?

The real question is WHY do you come to a US website?

Myself I'm an Aquarius sun, and French...

Many here talk about Linda Goodman as a kind of mentor. Well, I'm going to break a taboo... I didn't read Linda Goodman's book, except quickly the Aquarius description in Sun Signs thanks to a link given by YFIS once upon a time.
No, I came on lindaland because of the general vibe that I found here. People here are kind to each other, well, most of the time. Also, I was attracted and intrigued to find out about US people. And the bunch here is quite varied. From the neo-cons to the urban-global ones, from those who are spiritual in the "easy-riders-60's" style to the more traditionally religious. I like this mix of people meeting in one place and I don't find this openness on French astrological website. Also, English is a useful "tool" compared to French when it comes to a new language like astrology. I love my natal language, don't get me wrong, but it is too prout-prout sometimes..

So who else is foreigner? And why are you an illegal immigrant?

I've visited Paris and I loved it. I recently found out that my moon in libra was 2 minutes from asteroid lutecia (roman name of Paris). I'm not surprised. I love this town with my whole heart. If I had lived there maybe I would more realistic but for me it was only in holidays. I've walked everywhere... And fell in love with every bits of it.

For anyone who wants to visit Paris, or anywhere in France for that matter, u should try to be here on June 21st for "la fête de la musique". To celebrate the summer, anyone who can play music is allowed to occupy a corner of any street and play to everyone during the shortest night of the year. The same in EVERY town in France.

A couple of years ago I spent that night in Paris and it was the best memory ever. Just so many people mixing, with so many different music style in a perfect setting. The best night in Paris ever. June 21st.

I'm raising my hand as part of the Aussie contingency.

Even though I'm constantly complaining about the time differences, I don't really think about LL being an American site. To me it's where my friends are, and the best astrology forum.

Yeah, I don't consider LL an American site either. I just see it as a pink site. Wooops!

I'm from outside US and not an American. Found LL years ago while doing a search on Linda Goodman, after reading Star Signs.

Same story. Sitting at the computer one day thinking I want to get more into astrology and find like minded people and maybe make some friends if possible and "Linda Goodman" popped into my head so I Googled. And here we are.

Oh, so so familiar!

I used to sit at the computer, check my email, read the news rather thoroughly, check out what's happening in the world of entertainment at people.com and then log on a couple more sites, maybe astro.com and then here.

Now - I just turn on the computer open up Explorer and straight to LL. Even my emails come second.

I need to discipline myself and not go online BEFORE my daily meditation.

There's one time I was meditating and couldn't focus as my mind drifted from one LL thread to another. Kerrazy! Funny thing is you're in all of those threads. So instead of trying to concentrate I just let my mind wander. I think I was "processing" some stuff after reading some of your posts that I resonated with. Then out of nowhere RDJ's face flashed in my mind. Huh?!!! And his name had not been brought up here for a long time before that day.

That's when I told myself no reading threads in LL BEFORE meditation. Kerrazy!

That's just scary!

I must admit, things that I read here I think about a lot and process, especially before going to bed or first thing in the morning, but in the shower in particular. Which makes it worse, because shower is the first thing I do every morning and then it makes me want to turn the computer on and come here straight away.

I think about your posts. The things you say really resonate with me. The most recent one was about attracting the same type of people no matter where you go until you face a certain part of yourself. That was really spot on and profound. I loved that. You have such tremendous wisdom. I also know I can come here and have a good laugh with you.

The different language could be why I'm sensitive to the peculiarities that I perceive from this site. And my imagination too. Like I imagine the States with a French point of view. And probably to many, it will come as a surprise, but I believe that France is looking to the States with a positive outlook. For example, at school, we learn history. And French revolution is a very important part of the programme. We study it first around 15 and then again, more in depth around 18 before the bacalaureat, equivalent of A level in England. Anyway, at the same time that we study it, we look at US independence and learn about Lafayette. There is this yearning, like if we all wanted to have an old uncle from USA who would have emigrated there and would link us to this amazing country.
Also, we learn that France sold his territories in mississipi
and so feel connected in a way to US history.
To sum up this view, u should try to get a copy of De Tocqueville, De La Democratie En Amerique. He was a French arstocrat from the early 19th century, who was a humanist too, a modern thinker of his time (just after the revolution) who tried to link the good from the old and new system. His book is a appraisial (correct?) of US democraty in the 19th century. He especially highlight how in USA every citizen is involved in the affairs of his community, whereas in France it was the elite's job. I think this book is the best description of the French love for the US.

I just wanted to explain myself a bit. I could go on about what I like about any country. Australia, ah don't get me started. Where to start? Aborigenes? Countryside? People I met in London?....

That's really interesting pire. I think apart from the language/cultural issues we face is that we're online and so they're just flat words - and can be taken by the interpretation and sensitivity of the reader. It only takes someone to be having a bad day to misread something. It's that simple. Or even just basic personality. If someone is inclined to be serious then some of the humour in here can get to them or they feel they're not being taken seriously, etc. I mean, we're a cheeky lot. It's too hard to accommodate one type of person. That's the beauty - as individuals we all make the place rich by bringing in something different - personally, personality, experience, knowledge, etc.

As an Aussie we've been spared both the French and American history lessons. I'm not one for Modern History. Always loved Ancient History though. That's also one of my favourite things about here - is seeing the things that other people enjoy and know. I have a real appreciation and respect for things that others can do or know or like that I don't/can't.

Something that I really do enjoy is reading about the experiences of others in terms of tourism. Australia is so far away from the rest of the world that when someone says they went to Paris or saw a certain site, I just think "wow!", it's so accessible. Whereas from here it's a 20 hour flight, etc. I had a friend living in Denmark and she'd go to Germany for the weekend or France for a week. wheels made a post recently that made me think of how much living in Europe offers - even in terms of architecture, we just don't have that history. We're such a young nation.
