pire - have to love a man who not only reads a threaad titled about periods, but responds with a brilliant post. Totally agreed.

MVM - gave me a good laugh. And I humbly apologise for the misleading title. Well......

Zala - we can fix that. Maybe you could move the Polanski thread to GU?

Lyra -

Nice use of visuals. See now, this is where long posts fail me. Don't get my attention, you know. Make it easy. Follow the whole KISS system - keap it simple stupid and I'm there. Suits the Aries Merc attention span. Of course, the second picture appeals to my Taurus Mars/Venus Aries. Some chest fluff never goes astray. Could be the decider, in fact.

No idea whether fibroids are related to endometriosis or not, but that sort of stuff is probably all related. All gross-out stuff to do with women's organs and lumps and bumps and GROWTHS and what not. YUCK!!! Couldn't God have invented a nicer way for us to reproduce? And without the large margin for error & things going wrong?

lyra i had a friend whose fibroid (uterine) was the size of a grapefruit. she was in her 40s, thin as a rake, and looked pregnant. it was not considered dangerous to her health in any way and though sometimes uncomfortable gave her no problems.

hey lyra, i have them too, and it makes periods really painful...edgar cayce castor oil packs have made a huge difference. supposedly it shrinks them and i have noticed a difference. it's pretty common and not something to worry about too much. but it does make things more uncomfortable.

dont freak out when you get your first mamogram if they tell you you have them there too. it isn't harmful. fibercystic breast disease is what they call it, but fibroids are pretty harmless. you can tell if you have them there by doing a self breast exam in the shower when you are having your cycle. like i said the castor oil packs help. i listed it somewhere in the health and healing i think.

Really isnt fair is it? Bleeding out of your vag for a week every month, cramps, mood swings, bloating, crying spells, wanting to kill people....

F-in sucks actually.

Yeah T, it does suck. Actually, I have a three week cycle. So it sucks extra.

Other than that, I don't suffer the problems that other women seem to so I really empathise. Never had PMS or anything like that. I feel like eating everything a few days before. Blame Mars in Taurus in 2nd. Thank goodness for Saturn in Taurus in 2nd for some restraint.

I think my ovaries alternate. Every other month it's mental - I'm a psycho who's in tears for a whole day, the next month it's physical pain and I feel like I've been beaten up. The entire surface of my skin is painful to the touch.

Not nice.

Oh wheels

I've seen women (at work) in tremendous pain, and in tears. If I hadn't seen that I would be thinking "what the???, it's just a period". But that's so not the case. That's one of the things that I'm really grateful about as a woman, that I don't suffer like that.

Yeah, I'm not so much of a teary person really, I rarely cry when I'm distressed. Menstrual crying is weird, it's like a hosepipe coming out the eyes and it's embarrassing but I have to do it. Hormones coming out in the tears I suppose. I'm best left alone as men get upset by it, no wonder! My boss is fabulous though, I just squeak "I'm off to the bog!" and she's cool, as she's menopausal so she knows what it's all about!

Hey koi. I see you have chocolate to trade. Hmmm. Got me thinking. Since you have no period (soon) and I have excessive (3 week cycle)...... I'm willing to do a trade of some kind? What do you think?

Oh, okay, I'll start (since you're playing hardball). Okay - I'll meet you with a Cadbury's Dairy Milk block and raise you a 3 pack of Ferrero Rocher.

Gee, that didn't last long for me, PA! A trade has come my way!!

Let me think about it for a moment.... um, sorry, but I ate all my chocolate and I don't own tampons anymore

I have a theory (everyone dive for cover)....

Reading a thread in Universal Codes, I have discovered the secrets to our Universe.

We are alien hybrids because chromosome 1 and 2 were fused so the aliens could breed with us. Unfortunately, we are not their perfect work and have many defects. Our painful periods are just one of our failing human hybrid conditions.....

It's the aliens fault you have periods!!!!!!

They'd better come up with some pretty good chocolate!!!!

Oh, you don't have tampons anymore. Damn! That's a deal breaker. Could you just pretend? No, no, I can't ask you to do that. That's asking too much. I understand.
