Life?answer this question anyway you wish, your opinion, your thoughts, or anything this question sparks in your mind. post them here (i see no reason why anyone should argue, this is a subjective opinion based topic, there should be no 'right' or 'wrong' answer, the 'meaning of life' can be different to anyone and everyone. the topic was not started with the intention to start debates!) Factors have colluded...no, that's a bad term...acted in cooperation to bring you about whilst other factors are affording your ongoing life. That's the simple answer. IP: Logged |

"What is the meaning of a peach?"If you can answer that question, you can answer the meaning of life one.

Oh, no, that's what peaches are used for. Humans could call it their purpose but it's not why they are here. IP: Logged |

And that's precisely why the meaning of life is 42. IP: Logged |

Indeed. Should the thread be about the purpose of life?I suppose there is a thread of "what are the ramifications?" involved in a question of meaning. And those would probably be different depending on the circumstances you're born into. IP: Logged |

it can be about both. the idea of the topic was to spark ideas or feelings, in peoples minds, and for them to post them here. how do you perceive the question, and how do you perceive the answer to it? it can be about both IP: Logged |

I think it's the wrong question. That's why I asked about the meaning of a peach. It doesn't make sense to ask for the meaning of life. Life just is. Or isn't. You are born, you live and then you die. You assign different meanings to your thoughts or actions. It's all subjective.IP: Logged |

Yin, your basis for saying the question is 'wrong' sounds much to do with how you perceive the question in the first place.it seems that you have perceived the question as asking "why does life exist, or why do we exist" that is just one way to perceive the question. that doesn't make this 'the wrong question'. if you want to discuss it in another way, thats the idea! e.g. - what do you think were suppose to be doing here? do we have a purpose? or do we make our own? do we have to have one? what is every ones decision or idea in regards to those questions? thats just one other way to look at the question and talk about it. well, this is the kinda stuff i intended to provoke, i'm not good at this HAHA. LOL. I am afraid I have nothing profound to say here. I wish I did. What I do in my personal life is try and connect and justify my actions and thought according to some higher purpose. It is all subjective because my "higher purpose" is not your higher purpose. I'm not even sure that my higher purpose is worth the value I assign to it. Sometimes it feels like it's all in vain. But then I wake up in the morning filled with love and gratitude and do it all over again - the struggling, the bouncing off the walls, the reflection, the giving and taking... I'd like to believe that the answer is LOVE. The purpose of my life is to love and care as deeply and truly as I can and hope it promotes mine and other people's spiritual growth. That's just my take on it, though. God may have other plans.

I could wax long on this, what it means to me and how I realize my own epiphany is entirely subjective. But instead I'd just like to say that I have the persistent feeling that the cosmos (should such actually take a special notice of us) is laughing at all of us behind our backs. IP: Logged |
