OK, so not alot of people really like their first name.
I've run across a few, but not too many.

As were we discussing in AG's thread, some names are so generationally popular, one can usually tell anothers age by their name.

It's nice now that people are getting really original with the naming of their children.

Don't worry, you don't have to tell your name. But do you think it suits you? Do you ever wish it was something else? What would you name yourself, if you could?

My Mother wanted to name me Gina, because she thought it sounded very Italian and went with our last name. My Father wanted to name me Lois, because he was a superman fan. Thank God Mom put her foot down on that one. Anyway, they couldn't come to an agreement, so they named me after two Grandmothers, and I do NOT fit my name.

When I was little I told my Mother that my name was "Sunshine." Lol.

I'm thinking my name should of been something like... Isabella, Anabelle, something like that. I have dreams where someone is calling me "Christabella." Maybe that's my real name?

What's yours?

I think my name fits me pretty well.
If I ever had to change it, I would chose one that has "E" and "L" in it like "Elizabeth" or "Ella".

You look like an Isabella.

If I was a boy I was going to be Finlo - eeurggh! Or Cameron - but I don't think that would have suited me.

Apparently when I was little I thought the name I was given was too posh so I shortened it. Now it's a little hard to explain to people - I have to book travel in the 'real' name that's on my passport - and actually the two names are different, one is not a shortened version of the other!!

I think it sits OK with me, but I would have quite liked to be a Kate - dunno why!!

I also don't have a middle name, which is fairly unusual.

Why does that not surprise me, Yin, that you like the "ella" sound too.

I could def see you as Elizabeth. But, I think you would be the type of Elizabeth that is always called Elizabeth, and not Liz, or Beth. Good choice!

Thank You Eskimono! I'm not sure what an Isabella is supposed to look like, but if I look like one, I must be on the right track.

Oh, and I have the same shortened from long, which is your real name problem as you do, Eskimono. It's a pain in the behind, isn't it. People look at you with suscpicion.

Consider yourself blessed if you do not have a middle name. This is one area where things seem to go very, very WRONG!

My brother-in-law has a everyday, most common first name, and his middle name is WOLFGANG. I give his Mother props on originality, but he has had alot of slack for that one!

My mom was telling me about a couple of people who are pregnant at her work and they both want to name their kids Isis. One will be a boy and one a girl.

My mom's second choice for me was Lisa Marie. I am soooo not a Lisa.

But I have a thing for the oldie..grannie kind of names. I wouldn't mind Ester or Abagail (Abby for short).

My Grandma's name was Rosalie (Rose for short) and she wanted my mom to name me Rose. My mom didn't. But when I was 23 I got a tatoo of a rose on my ankle in her honor..

I hated my name all my life. I would have loved to be called something floaty and liquid, like... I don't know!! Gypsee, what would you call me?

I have no idea... I wasn't keen on my name when I was small - especially my middle name of Jane - but I now like my name.

Isabelle used to be one of my favourite girl's names, and my sister's name is Christa, so I'm biased towards it. I'm Angela Jane, she's Christa Louise. (I'll probably come back to edit this out, since I didn't ask her if I could share her name, and she lurks here.) My dad calls me Jane or Janie.

LOL, Kiss, I would have to see you first!!

OK, Wink, you do not look like and Ester, and neither does Madonna for that matter!

We had a beagle once. My brother said HE should get to name it, cause I name everything. True. He named her Abigail. Which morphed into Abby. Then, Crabby Abby. Then, Flabby, Crabby, Abby. I cannot help but think of that dog every time I hear that name.

OK, Kiss, you should have a D name. Donna?
Diana? I dunno, something with a D, popped into my noggin.

I knew a lovely old lady named Rosalie. That is a beautiful name, I think you would of worn that well, Wink.

Teasel;
You did get the cream of the crop in names, one of my faves. Do you like the Rolling Stones song, "Angie." I love that song.

If i had to pick a name for myself it'll have to be jono! My parents named me jon with a H and it came from my uncle my dad's brother inlaw. Who's no longer in the family go figure lol. I don't like my middle name.
Or CHEEKY would be another 1 Haha!

16, I'm happy to be able to say my real name is Jethro Hawk Willow Rivers-Garrett.

:P

However addressing that Hawk is and has always been what I go by is a pain.

My mom had thought about naming me Emilio because she wanted people to know that I had Portuguese and Spanish in me on my maternal grandfather's side. She actually named me after a Mexican friend of hers.

My dad wanted to name me Rebecca but my mom wasn't into it because she never met a Rebecca that she liked lol. My mom liked Angelica and Danielle (she really likes the nickname Danny). They finally settled on Gabriella because Gabriel is my paternal grandfather's middle name. Incidentally, my MC is conjunct the fixed star Fomalhaut which corresponds with the angel Gabriel. Also since Gabriel is considered "God's messenger" that can be symbolized by Mercury/Hermes who was the messenger of the God's for Greeks/Romans, and Mercury is my strongest planet and chart ruler I think they picked a good name.

As for my middle names.. Grey is my paternal grandmother's maiden name and Leng is my mother's real name (she goes by Helena, even on legal documents, but her birth name is Yoke-Leng). Grey Leng is interesting because its pronounced "grayling" which is a type of fish and butterfly. I don't know if my parents did that on purpose or what.

If I was a boy I would've been Adam, which I also like.

I'm naming my children Magdalen Helena or Linus Max (Max is my dad's middle name, its also a family name).

Lexx, I absolutely adore the name Beatrice.
I was supposed to be called Caroline, which is now my middle name. It's the only normal part of my name. Not a massive fan of my name really, nobody outside Wales knows how to pronounce it. So I go by Ellie instead, which is a version of it, and what my folks have always called me so I don't know why they didn't do that in the first place. Parents today, who'd have them?

Thanks again!

Gabriella has always intrigued me, although I've only met one, a Libra who talks a lot, and of course goes by Gabby :P

And I think Gray is unique and cool on a female

Amowls: I like Gabriella, too.

My name was going to be Diana or Linda, and then my grandmother suggested Kelly (I really like this name). Then there was a arguement and Mum, Dad and Nan agreed on Nicole. I got my Mum's first name as my second name.

If I was a boy I was going to be Jason.
