What have you borrowed and need to give back? How long have you had it?Who has borrowed stuff from you? How long have they had it and do they show any sign of giving it back? I borrowed the Phillip Pullman trilogy from my friend Michael two years ago. He lives two houses away from me, and I still have his books. Also his Coen brothers dvd box set that I can't even watch. LAZY. I borrowed one blue cardigan from my boyfriend. I told him he can have that back in April. Also one down sleeping bag that he's getting antsy about, but he has three and I am cold. So ditto, April. I gave him back his hammer, and his paint stripper. I lent a book to my friend Eliott in 2004, it was based on a PhD thesis and was very expensive, I got it in South Korea and shiped it home, it was called "Hitler's Willing Executioners" (I know, joyous bedtime reading) and I said to the mo'fo at the time "I'd better get this back otherwise I will hunt you down and kill you". He still has it! I hate him! Despite the Phillip Pullman hypocrisy I hate him passionately, and although he is technically still my friend he and his wife split up in 2006 and I see the wife and not him anymore so there's no way I'm getting it back. Bye bye Hitler. I lent a cast iron wok to my friend Sarah, a beauty of a wok it was. I only ever see Sarah at parties, usually she is wearing a cocktail dress. I say "Have you got my wok on you?" and she laughs. I doubt the wok and will ever be reunited. I lent my sister my Tindersticks CD. I said "This was a special edition and very expensive!" and I said "Don't ******* lend it anyone else like you normally do!" and she promptly lent it to her pen-pal Peter so now it's in ******* Frankfurt. He told me on Facebook the other day "The Tindersticks are great!" and I'm like, grrr. Double-lenders, I hate that!

Hmmm, let's see, apparently, I borrowed my friend Kyle's KISS Double Platinum album in ninth grade. I have no memory of this, but Kyle has brought it to my attention at our class reunions. Sorry kyle,, it's loooonng gone.Mr. Scorpio has my green Indian blanket. I don't think, no, I KNOW for a fact he doesn't plan on returning it, which really makes me mad because I have a collection of Indian blankets that I used to have displayed folded up on the rungs of a ladder. It took me forever to get all the colors of the rainbow, and now he's gone and took the green one because he thinks his woofers get "cold." *rolls eyes* My mom borrowed my 18k gold snake ring that I bought in Italy, and then lost it!! Still mad!! Other then that, mostly just random things; books, cds, dvds (reminds me, I need to get 'The Lake House' back from my friendly local barmaid, after 2 years she should of had a chance to watch it by now!) I'm pretty good about this, not loaning out what I can't stand to lose. If there's something I really have to share, I'll get more than one, and I'll try to get one from a thrift store or used book store, with the other one bought as most would (in the case of books, I believe in supporting authors I like, so I buy at least one copy in a way that benefits them, but buying a used copy to loan out seems fair). One thing I've done is when I loaned out something I don't want to lose is "trade" it for something the other person will want back, within reason. The downside is that if you break, stain, ruin, or lose it, you can pretty much kiss what you loaned out goodbye (even replacing it may not work if there was sentimental value attached), and may be in worse trouble, too. But overall I have an easy come, easy go attitude about most things, so they circulate. I've got some clothes that technically belong to others and some of my clothes I haven't even seen in years save being worn by someone else. Money gets frustrating. It seems whenever I get a windfall, good friends need some (or even most) of it. But I usually get paid back in one form or another. Like one who was supposed to pay me back in full for a large sum (to me) when her tax return came in only paid me some of it back, but she felt guilty enough that she drove me around without asking for any kind of compensation and I figured the gas & time made up for it so a "stocking stuffer" was canceling her debt to me. I don't borrow money myself. I've ridden on the coattails of others before, but even then I make sure to more than make up for it because I hate feeling indebted to anyone. It makes me feel downright vulnerable. I take to heart the saying, "Borrow gold, borrow chains." Heck, I was just IMAGINING being in debt like someone close to me and felt like I was suffocating. i don't borrow things. i especailly don't borrow money. when people borrow my stuff, i don't usually want it back..especially clothes..it would be stretched out or something anyway..why bother....even money, so its a happy surprise if they ever pay me back. my jewlery, the girls borrow my jewlery, but i usually just give them whatever they like, unless it is a favorite piece. it will all be thiers someday anyway.whoever always borrows my tom petty greatest hits cd's, i kinda do want those back as i have bought the same cd like 5 times due to sticky finger borrowing. I "loaned" an ex friend a bunch of my son's DVD's trusting him to give them back. I sent him a text asking if I get my video's back...no response. What an ass...IP: Logged |

lol quote: What have you borrowed and need to give back?
Nothing. I usually just buy the same thing.. if it's a book or something I liked. quote: Who has borrowed stuff from you?
No one. This is kind of weird I guess.. but whenever someone *likes* something of mine, it's usually something that's insignificant to me - and I just give it to them. I've never had a friend *like* something that's very important to me. But if this happened I'd probably buy it for them as a present... I wouldn't lend it. IP: Logged |

Oh hang on! If we include lending money.. which Dervish mentioned - I've lent a "friend" in high school money and bought her food etc on a daily basis for a couple of years (thinking she had financial problems - which btw she *didn't*).. It got up to thousands for sure, but who's counting? She definitely wasn't.IP: Logged |
