stellarium 10.4 is a free software that I downloaded at brothersoft.comit shows the sky and it's really wicked. I highly recomend it if you want to see how the constellations, the zodiac, the planets move in the sky. or more exactly how earth moves around the zodiac and constellations. IP: Logged |

avec plaisir you can do many manip with it. I can spend hours. you can zoom on a planet, there are even galaxies, for example, on the left "toolbar" with the option search type "sombrero galaxy" also check closely the sagittarius and taurus constellation to see some amazing stuff. I'm loving it now, I can find the leo constellation in 2 sec when I look up in the sky. IP: Logged |

I can't post a pic since I don't have an internet connection on my computer. i'm on my phone;check "M1" in the search window to see a beautiful nebula in the taurus constellation; M101 to see a galaxy near the constellation ursa major but don't forget to look for the "sombrero galaxy" IP: Logged |

hmmm not sure, I guess when you download it, some window opens and ask you if you want to open or to save it(download) so you choose save and another window opens and ask you where you want to save it. then you should look into the place you chose to save it, (hopefully the desktop or another accessible location) and you just double click on it. I'm only guessing, I can't remember how I did, but I don't remember it being difficult to install. try and tell me if it worked. alternatively, you can search for it on your computer, there should be a "search files" or similar box near where you click to switch off your computer.IP: Logged |

It doesn't ask me where I want to save it. I downloaded it 3 times and it's gone walkies. Kat, good to know I am not the only dinosaur here! IP: Logged |

well if you have downloaded it then it's on the computer, so if you click on the START button bottom left of your screen, there should be a searchbar in which you can type the name of a file you are looking for, or if it's not a bar, then there is written SEARCH. click on it and write "stellarium" and it will search it on your computer. if when you do that no file comes up, then it means that the downloading didn't work for some reason; let's try that firstIP: Logged |

Pire, this is an awesome program! Thanks for sharing. Also, for those who have iPhones, Pocket Universe is a great app to have (http://itunes.apple.com/app/pocket-universe-virtual-sky/id306916838?mt=8). Starkiss, do you have a Mac or are you using Windows? IP: Logged |

spanky, I know, it's the best I've downloaded. I tried a few others but they weren't as developed as this one. starkiss, sorry I went to bed. it was 3am here. I'm not sure what's going on. you know some software require some windows version to work, I'm not sure this is the case with this software but where you download it, you might want to check that there is no "minimum requirement" and compare it with your version of windows (xp, 2000, vista...) if it doesn't come from this, Then I can't see where it's coming from. it would help if my comp was connected to the web so whenever I do, may be today, I'll see by myself. back soon :-) IP: Logged |

step 2 : click on stelarium you'll end up on this page if you notice, they ask a minimum OS (which I believe means Operating System) so you should check if you computer can run the program. may be that comes from here. if it is compatible, then click on "DOWNLOAD" IP: Logged |

you'll see this: click on the first server since you are in the US, aren't you? you'll have this box opening. you should click on the middle button. here it says "enregistrer" which is french for "save" the other options are, on the left "executer" which means "open" and doesn't save the program to your computer so you'd have to redo all the operation to open it again, and on the right, it says "annuler" which means "cancel" when you click on "save", a new box opens and ask you WHERE you want to save it on your computer. choose an easy access like your desktop. then the box disappear and the saving starts. once it is saved on your computer, the second box shows up it asks you what you want to do with the program. here only "cancel is highlighted because I didn't actually dowload it again but if you do the operation, you should have the first ("ouvrir"="open") and the second buttons ("ouvrir le dossier" = "open the folder") highlighted. I don't think it makes a big difference either one. either it opens straight away or you have to click on the "stelarium" icon on your desktop or wherever you have saved it. et voilą! IP: Logged |
