Global Unity discusses how the Aquarian Age promises eventual Peace on Earth, but whether we make the transition smoothly or have to endure the temporal threat of global imperialism will depend upon how each of us treats the other; in this Forum, we celebrate our cultural, national, and spiritual diversity as we each unite in Love and Light...

Celebrate? Really?
Unite in Love and Light? Really?

I see a lot is disagreement, debate, negativity and criticism on Global Unity. What's so uniting in Love and Light by being negative?

Love & light?

"Love is...strangely easy to mistake for loathing." --Stardust (movie)

And light...careful, if you look directly at the light from the blasts it will burn your eyes, blinding you.

Not a quote. I was thinking of a nuclear blast. It's said to be so bright that those who look directly at it without serious eye protection go blind, sometimes permanently.

I steer waaaaaaaaaay clear of that forum. I went in that forum fo the first time in 2008 Anne was floored! I never knew LL had such racist, negative, armchair politicians here! Some don't even post in the astrology forums, only in there! There used to be a member here that I thought was super cool, that is until I read the trite, racist crap this person wrote in that forum. Glad that person is gone from the forum.

Exactly

I even typed the following:

"Why the hell does this forum section has to be divisive!?????

This wreaks of negative Eristic energy.

Can't we get away from the "I am right ,and you're wrong....it's my way or no way" mentality?

How is this Global Unity? It's not even National Unity.

I am just tired of people complaining, bickering on each side of the political spectrum to the point that I don't want to have to do with either side.

I don't care for Republicans,and I don't care for Democrats.

I am liberal though. I can't see myself being a conservative.

I would appreciate people stop painting people with certain political beliefs in the same brush. I don't care if you're a Democrat,Republican,Independent,Green Party,or whatever.

I am sick and tired of the generalizing. "

This what I got for a response:

"Glaucus, you are a prime example in a racist voting block who voted for O'Bomber at a 95% rate because he's black. If whites had voted for McCain at a 95% clip, you'd claim racism.

You claim to be a Liberal but you voted for a far left radical Marxist Socialist who is in no way, a Liberal.

Your real intent here is to stop the well deserved criticism of O'Bomber...and that in itself is not a Liberal trait, it's Illiberal.
http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum26/HTML/000374.html

I never voted for Obama because he's part Black. I didn't vote for him as a Black person. I voted for him as part of the many liberals that voted for him. I voted him for him because I wanted Change and it had nothing do with change of race in the oval office.

I was one of only 2.4 percent of the US population that identified as more than one race on the 2000 Census.

I was one of only 5 percent of the US population that identified as more than one race on the very recent 2010 Census.

I identified as Black,White,Hispanic, and Native American on both Censuses. They are the only Censuses that allowed people to identify as more than one race.

Therefore, I don't identify as just Black. It's wrong to include me into a Black voting block.

I don't believe that it is a racist voting block. A vast majority of blacks are traditional Democrats since the Civil Right Act was passed on July 2, 1964.

I would never claim racism if 95 percent of whites voted for McCain.

Also the election of Barack Obama doesn't mean that racism still doesn't exist. He is not all Black either. Unlike all the other "Black" presidential candidates, he has a white parent. His white mother and black father married and had him in Hawaii when over 30 other states in the United States had laws against race mixing, and those laws were struck down on June 12, 1967. I was only born 4 years after that. Also, he has no African American slave roots like his wife, Michelle does. Therefore,he doesn't have the history of "Black Anger" connected to slavery and Jim Crow segregation history.

President Obama has not been running the country as far left Marxist. If anything, he has been running the country as a centrist. Some even say that he is not much different from Bush.

I had mixed feelings when Obama was elected. I thought one of the positive things is that it really did show racism wasn't as bad as I thought. But after awhile I came to realize that it's actually much worse than I thought.

One example that gobsmacked me was meeting some guys I'd have thought could only be found in a cult. Long story short, they believed all blacks were of a hive mind and also seemed incapable of telling the difference between Democrats and Black Panthers and black street gangs. They also claimed my best friend (who is black) voted for Obama when she did not, and they know her better than me (despite our years of close friendship) because she's black. ('Course they thought I'd be on their side at first because of my Texas accent, too, which goes to show how fallible their "reasoning" is.)

Though one that REALLY gobsmacked me was a WOMAN who said I (and other women) had an OBLIGATION to fight Obama by promoting conservatives because we women got Obama elected. That one really ticked me off, as if what other women did was my responsibility, and just barely held my tongue about if I was responsible for HER behavior, too, then I'd need to brush up on critical thinking skills & promote them. Part of it was there was no talking rationally with her because you were either for Obama or you were a conservative, and no other alternatives existed, so people like me just didn't exist in her universe. Besides, I still don't understand how she personally couldn't take offense at the idea that we were communally linked and the sins (*) of one was the sins of all, so I guess I couldn't understand her anymore than she could me, so I saw it as pointless to attempt communication and eventually just avoided her.

(*Or the idea that voting for Obama was evil; I didn't vote for him, but I don't think it was wrong to have done so.)

But yeah, I normally don't engage with those who get way too emotional & egotistical on subjects. Being Libran, I DO like it when people of different political persuasions debate intelligently (so I like the IDEA of the forum), but I also dislike when it stops being a debate and degrades into ad hominem attacks, straw man arguments, etc (which means I dislike the actual PRACTICE that seems more common than not).

Hey Glaucus, blacks did vote for O'Bomber at a 95% clip.

Now Glaucus, if white folk had voted for McCain at a 95% clip, you'd be the very first member here whining, moaning, screeching and shrieking about racism.

It would never occur to you that anyone could vote AGAINST a black Marxist, Socialist racist whose resume for President of the United States could be written on the head of a pin.

Have you ever had a conscious thought which didn't begin and end with issues of race Glaucus?

Too bad you didn't see fit to restrain yourself and keep your political ranting on the proper forum...GU.

Koi, I hope your next thread is all about how Astrology is for all things astrology and Advanced Astrology is for highly advanced topics related to astrology. And of course you'll be posting about that here in LLC2 because LLC2 is a general discussion gathering-place where you can talk about anything you like, make new friends, lend support, share inspirational stories, and recommend any interesting sites that you come across, which is great because I'd like to lend you support about the Astrology forums. If you're lucky, I'll share inspirational stories as well...
