Michell: Hi, my name is Michell. How may I help you?
kat : i just got off the phone with customer service. i called because i was charged for what i was TOLD was going to be a FREE month's trial. the only options i was offered were - an EXTRA month for free (ie carrying on to september 1st) BUT i would have to pay for THIS month!! OR i could cancel immediately and get my money back "in a few business days". i called within the first week free trial period to cancel because i did not have the extra 19.99 to pay. now i will be going without food for "a few business days" AND my month's trial has been cancelled.
kat: so the money i couldn't afford to spend is still missing and the free month i was offered is gone too. i do not consider this very reasonable!!
Michell: I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue. Sure, I can help you with this.
Michell: Please give me a couple of minutes while I check your account.
Michell: Thank you for your time.
Michell: I can see that you have subscribed for FunPass free trail on 06/24/2010. There is no month free trail for FunPass subscription only 7 day free trail for FunPass. I can also see that we have refunded your charges it will be credited in your account in few days.

Communication with the RightNow Chat service has been lost. Please wait while attempts are made to restore the connection.
Disconnection in 240 seconds.
Connection resumed.

kat : yes i subscribed for the free 7 day pass. when i called to cancel the day before billing i was offered a free MONTH to end 8/1/10. for which i was subsequently charged. now i am out $20 and the only solution offered me was another "FREE" month to end 9/1/10 but i would have to say goodby to the money i should never have been charged in the first place..
kat: OR i could cancel immediately to get my money back.

kat: so i took the option that would get my money back but unfortunately that puts me in severe hardship vis a vis my daily bread!!
Michell: I understand your concern but we do not offer free 1 month for FunPass. May I know where did you get the offer for free 1 month?
kat: from the customer service person i spoke to when i TRIED to cancel the FREE WEEK pass.
Michell: I can see that you have canceled your account and got the refund.
kat: also the person i JUST spoke to offered me a free month FOLLOWING the 1st august as consolation for my money. yes now the account is cancelled and i have to wait for money that should have been there for me in the first place. not cool!!
Michell: I can understand your concern.
kat: can you understand that i will be warning everyone i know not to try any FREE TRIALS from fun pass?

i think "fun pass" is badly misnamed. first we couldn't download anything. when i tried to cancel i was talked into an extended FREE TRIAL (one month) for which, two days later when the money was spent, i was charged. overdraft fees included i will have paid more than a month's fee for agreeing to THAT one!! the only compensation i was offered was ANOTHER free month if i left my money there...

beware all!!

That really sucks kat. And it sucks more to be in a position where you can barely afford your daily bread. Wish I was able to help you out. How long will you have to wait to get your money back?

I always avoid things labled FREE TRIALS. There is usually a hidden catch.

I am sorry this happened to you. I am very glad that you are sounding the warning bell to prevent this from happening to others. This business seems to operate on the bait and switch tactic. It's usually such a hassle to untangle such agreements that the average person avoids the struggle and submits. I am glad you stood your ground.

thanks t...i don't want to sound the beggar either! i keep only what i need to pay bills with in my bank. imagining that money was there created an overdraft because i had spent it. more to come, just an awkward moment but i do hate when people sucker you into this kind of thing. i was willing to cancel and he sweettalked me into staying free of charge...only to bill me. not kosher for sure.

bait and switch is a good way to describe it!!

i have fallen for free trials in the past and forgotten the cutoff point which is really my fault so i don't mind the inconvenience..this out and out denial that there WAS such a thing as a free month at the same time as they offered me ANOTHER free month if i agreed to pay for THIS month.

kafka was brilliant. this is one of his scenarios for sure.

i think the bank will repay me. this is one of those situations where the principle is more important than the principal to me. i get into OX mode and butt heads till someone coughs up...

Yuck. I've read a lot of complaints online about GameHouse. I have no experience with them, but I did have a similar problem with Yahoo!Games and it took a while to sort out, and they took their time in refunding me.

Oh, I found this. I don't know if it will help you, but sometimes if you have a direct email and someone's name, they can get more done than a standard customer service rep.

quote:

hello ,i just want to warn any one that is thinking about joining this site please be careful what you click on,this is the third time they took more money then i signed up for fun ticket is 5:99 thats what i signed up for ,but they gave me fun pass 19:99 ,so im out $60 ,they wont give me a dime back ,i called them 3times about this .PLEASE BEWARE.

Hi I'm Nick Hernandez and I'm a community manager for Gamehouse. Just saw your post and would like to help get your issue resolved.

I'm very sorry that you had such a difficult time getting your billing issue resolved . You can reach me directly at ForumAdmins@gamehouse.com . If you have an order number or the email address the subscription was registered under, I can make sure that your account is refunded and look into the issues with Customer Service.

Also, anyone else here having issues with Gamehouse.com Customer Service or have an unresolved issue that was not handled to your satisfaction, please feel free to contact me as well with whatever details and history you can provide.

Good luck and thanks for spreading the word so others can hopefully avoid being duped!
