Let's check in!

Are you Happy, Sad, Frustrated, Mad, Giggly?

Do tell, and we'll support each other

I'm hot and sweaty...it's 100 degrees, and I don't know how hot when you add in the humidity.

Today I'm grateful for my airconditioning. I'm feeling butterflyish in my stomach, because tomorrow my perfume samples will reach a reviewer. Eek!

Howz about you all?

100...yikes!

I guess I can't complain. Here in Utah according to yahoo it's 86 degrees F.
I can't really comment on it since I've been in this building all day behind my puter. Which isn't totally a bad thing since it's air conditioned and I do not do heat.

Aside of that I've had this thumping headache all freaking day!! My co-worker gave me a lortab, so we'll see if that helps any lol. They usually don't have much effect on me. I think if I don't concentrate on it it'll go away... right?

Oh, and my employer "forgot" to pay me last week so I've been broke for a few days now and I'll update you tomorrow to let you know if I was able to get home since I'm running on empty in my car with the warning light on...ahhhhh!!!

I'll be much better tomorrow since that's when I will <hopefully> get paid.

Thanks for listening to my rant..lol.

I am wondering how many kids go to bed before sunset in the summer.

I remember- (strict upbringing) this well.

When I first moved to Baltimore I was struck by how many tiny kids were out at 1 a.m. and later.

When it is hot, the city -really- never sleeps.

My grouch flag is up and waving. This morning I had a melt down and want to be far away from people. I tried going for a walk to calm down and that sort of helped but I was gritting my teeth the whole way cause there is too many people where I live.

My ex is now telling my 8 yr old that I don't love or even care for her and that he supports her not visiting me..he gives her the choice and he supports it. The choice is actually an adult decision that he has pawned off on her.....

My frustration is beginning and I need outlets before my anxiety reappears.....

that is me brutally honest and what is up with me

Spanks checking in.....

Tummy is grumbling at the sight of quiche, most likely because it's 11.40 in the AM & all I've had to eat is 4 cups of stimulating coffee.

Note to moderator & my fellow coffee clubbers - I have resorted to mixing my coffee 50% decaf to keep me on an even keel.

"My grouch flag is waving" gotta love Cyn.

No grouch flag here. It's so hot here, OMG, and no air conditioning. But, I try not to complain, because I love summer.

I'm tired too T, move over, are we napping on those little kindergarden mats? Remember those?

I finally got a day off, IF, and that's a big IF, the new girl actually shows up tonight.
She watched me work last saturday, and her eyes got as big as saucers.
I'm not really sure if she is into hard work.

Mood is great!!!
House is dirty!!
Stomach is empty!!

I'm today!

Got this email in mybox:

Hi Amanda,

I received the package yesterday. I will begin "evaluating" them today. Don't be nervous. I'll send you my notes and you can decide if you want to talk about them or not. I did a preliminary sniff and thought each one was unique and balanced. I didn't wear any of them yet. I'll get back to you as soon as I'm finished

Thanks for sending them to me. I love to see what perfumers "out there" are doing these days. It's difficult to get perfumers to hand over their wares because of the competition issue. I'm not all that competitive...but I like what I like and will promote my butt off to get someone else off the ground. On the other hand, if I think the work needs more work, I let you know.

Talk to you soon,

http://thescenteddjinn.blogspot.com/

She teaches here (I remembered this after I sent her my samples, so I got even MORE nervous ) http://www.naturalperfumeacademy.com/

Checking in. It's 105 degrees and rising.
Time 23 14.
Got aircon but can't afford it at the moment, so using a fan, which just pushes hot air around. can't sleep.

LEXX,
How long is your heatwave expected to last?
and what bacteria have you got on your beach?
Even if we had it on our beaches, there was no way we would have known! Everything here has to be perfect as not to lose any tourists in high season, so everything is hush hush.

OMG! That is awful!
This heatwave is the worse one I remember since the drought of Summer 1988 when many lakes dried up and even Lake Erie was so low one could walk 300 feet out where the water was supposed to be but was not.
It was a dry heat wave though, much more tolerable than this horrid humid heat wave.
No idea how long it is going to last but it has gone on nigh onto a few weeks to date.

As to the beach bacteria...mostly e-coli from the damn huge flocks of large Canadian geese sh!tting all over. Very nasty, too many of them!
They even crowd the sea gulls out and the beach is impossible to walk on with goose crap all over it, drawing flies/maggots too. Very ewwwwww!
Have not checked the bacteria levels for today.
They put big warning signs everywhere when it is at dangerous levels.

AbsintheDragonfly
Thanks!

GypseeWind
You poor thing! You have 95.4 degrees actual there, and I am here b!tching about 90 at the moment.
However our heat index is 97 because of the 59% humidity factor, and your heat index is 98 with on only a 36% humidity factor, so we are both most likely equally miserable.

As to our beaches...this report from June...so yeah....most likely they are still disgusting today.
quote:

June 1, 2010
Bacteria levels high at area beach
Lake Shore Park’s water is worst in area

Summer is still three weeks away, but an all-too-familiar aspect of it, high bacteria levels at Lake Shore Park’s beach, is already with us.

Anthony Paneto, head lifeguard at the beach, said the high bacteria levels were posted Saturday and remained in place throughout the holiday weekend.

According to the Web site, www.odh.ohio.gov, most Lake Erie

beaches are sampled four times a week during the swimming season for the presence of E. coli bacteria, which can cause illness. When the amount of bacteria exceeds state standards, beaches are posted with warning signs advising people not to swim in the water.

On May 27, the most recent date for which data was available, Lake Shore Park’s E. coli account was 345. At Conneaut Township Park, the count was 112; at Geneva State Park, 24; and at Walnut Beach, 11.

The water at Lake Shore Park is enclosed by a series of breakwalls, which limits the amount of refreshing that can occur, said Jarod Artman, a lifeguard there. The presence of Canada geese and their droppings on the beach add to the problem.

Vicki Metz, who lives in Greenville, Pa., brought her daughter and her daughter’s friend to Metz’s hometown Monday so they could see the beach she enjoyed as a child. She was disappointed in what she saw.

“When I read the sign, I was very unhappy,” she said. “I told them don’t swallow the water. I’m not too happy.”

The life guards say they try to warn the swimmers of the dangers, but most people go ahead and swim in it.

“We inform everyone when they come down here ‘Don’t let your kids put their heads under the water.’ But they haven’t listened to me yet,” said Paneto.

According to the Ohio Department of Health, people who have a weakened immune system or are already ill are at the greatest risk from the elevated bacteria levels. The most common illness associated with swimming in polluted water is gastroenteritis. Symp-toms include nausea, vomiting, headache, fever and diarrhea. Eye, ear, nose and throat infections are possible, as well.

The water off Lake Shore Park tested high for bacteria on numerous occasions in 2009, hitting a high level of 1,986 in early August. The beach had the highest rate of unsafe swimming conditions during 2008, according to a report released by the National Resources Defense Council last year. It exceeded the health standard for bacteria 53 percent of the 2008 summer swimming season.

Paneto said life guards are encouraged to cool off in the lake so they stay alert, so he periodically goes into the water, even when there are warnings posted.

“If I didn’t have to, I wouldn’t,” he said.

What really p!sses me off is that lake is where our drinking water comes from!
The water company said our water is sub standard and people should ask their doctors if they are healthy enough to drink it without boiling it first.
It is contaminated they said with e-coli and parasites.
Yuuuck! It even makes my cats sick.

what about that stream/river i saw in some of your pictures, lexx?? running water is seldom dangerous, but is there enough in there now to get at least a little wet?

i had to laugh when you mentioned sponge bath, not because your situation is funny, but i had a roomate years ago whose name for it was "wh0re bath"...which still gets a snort out of me!

I have had so many challenging things in my life that I have become a very strong person and I notice that what is constant is change, and surprise, and always something suddenly unexpected, always difficult things..........BUT I pretty much "take things as they come". Nothing can really shock me anymore..........I mean, I know some things are more severe than others, but I've learned to accept the fact that in life nothing is guaranteed and change is constant.
