My friend called wanting to go to a VA hospital 40 miles away.
She sounds terrible, sounds like a heart attack or stroke.....
but has no money and no insurance so absolutely refuses to go to a local hospital by ambulance.
I cannot find transportation until over an hour from now to get her to the VA hospital.
I called the VA...what a joke!
I called 911 but she is p!ssed I did and now wtf am I supposed to do????????????????

PS. I cannot afford it without great hardship....but rather than have her die...I would pay her ER bill so she could go to any hospital right now....but she refuses!
I am soooo freaking at wits end here!

You did the right thing by calling 911, LEXX.
This is some cold-hearted logic here but if she wanted to be left alone to die she wouldn't have called you. She reached out for help. You helped as you could.

Yes, you did the right thing without a doubt. Calling you for help and limiting how you can help is unfair. What if something bad happens and you end up blaming yourself because you didn't do what was in your power to do? Anyway, I don't want to say more. Bottom line, you did the right thing.

I am waiting to see what happens next, called my husband at work....he is going to try and talk some sense into her and if not...we will take her to the hospital 40 miles away.
Update...
my husband will be home in a few minutes...he called off work...she is p!ssed that I called 911...she is p!ssed the emts came....
she refuses to be admitted even to the VA hospital because she does not want to leave her dogs even though we said we will feed them every day!
Damn some people can be soooo freaking stubborn!
She is a single stubborn 55 year old independent Leo woman.

Update...my husband is going to get her and take her to the VA right now.
She is being very stubborn and just informed us she has been feeling bad since Thursday...barely able to walk and breathe and more.
For her not to drive herself is beyond strange...so we know it is bad.

I am finally able to break down and have a crying jag now that I know my husband is taking her to the hospital she wants to go to even if it is 40 miles away.
I do not like him driving under stress like this though what with his seizures. (he will be seeing his neurologist this week because things have gotten worse)
OK...gotta go release myself by having a cathartic cry, so I can be calm for him when he calls with updates on the situation.

you certainly did the right thing. i agree your friend is lucky to have YOU on her side!

funnily my daughter was having similar symptoms last week and after two visits to hospital and cardio no heart problems have surfaced. we think she has been having an ongoing anxiety attack, which seems to be subsiding now, a week later! but still to go to doc's for more checking out this week.

hope your friend AND your husband get there and back in perfect shape.

Ugh. I've had anxiety attacks go on like that. I take flower essences, and then need to down chamomile tea until it stops.

LEXX girl! I'm sooooo proud of you for doing the right thing for your friend. Sometimes the right thing is the most difficult thing. A real friend sometimes has to give us a proverbial kick in the seat when it's for our own good. None of us is really in our rational state of mind when we're ill and the people we love and trust sometimes have to take over against our will. But I guarantee you, when she comes out of this, she will be grateful to you.

Two weeks ago my mother had to call the police on her friend who has alzheimer's. She saw him about to get on the city bus and she knew he'd be lost forever. He was angry at her because he was forced to move into an assisted living facility immediately. It was very difficult for my mother but she saved his life! And now he doesn't remember, he just falls in love with her all over again every time he sees her.

Again, YOU DID THE RIGHT THING!!

I don't know when our new government health plan kicks in, I haven't been paying attention but hopefully something has started that can be of some help to her.

And don't worry my questions right now, I know you've got bigger things on your mind right now. It gives me some time to study the charts in depth.

Update...
Well at least it was/is not "directly" heart.
Her hb is like 6 (should be 12 to 16...and by international units she is at 3
(like Unmoved was here http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/203952.html)
but should be at 7.4 to 9.9 for women) which means she has been losing blood mysteriously.
She is gaunt and thin and has lost alot of weight in the last few weeks.
She has passed menopause.
They are keeping her in the VA hospital because the blood loss seems to be from the digestive system. She is very very weak and having tachycardia due to the extremely low hb count.
They are going to give her a blood transfusion.
This lady is a retired military person and when she can get a contract job she is a heavy equipment construction worker even though she is only 5'3" tall.
This is very hard on her because she has always been very healthy, fit, active, and strong.
So please everyone send her healing.
She is scared.
She is in the Erie Pennsylvania VA hospital.
Her initials are DD.
