I must be some kind of nerd because I've been really excited about Halloween coming up. I LOVE Halloween. If I had the money, I'd do my house up inside and out all month long! This year I wanna be a 80's chick. Kinda dates me doesn't it? <shhh I'm not tellin> Yes, I still dress up!! About to head out for a tad, so I'll have to come back with more.... IP: Logged |

My favorite holiday is Halloween as well!!!I have more decorations for it, then ALL the other holidays combined. And I'll tell you my costume, but it's a secret to those I know in RL, and actually it was birthed from an idea here!!! I'm going to get a Burger King crown, and completely cover it with stuff, and then put a label on it that says 'Drama Queen'. I'm thinking of how to dress with that. I'm going to have all kinds of things hanging off my crown, like mini cellphones, and jewels, and fake money, stuff like that. FUN, FUN, FUN! IP: Logged |

Halloween is not just coming up....it's months away......we haven't finished summer yet!Mine has got to be May Bank Holiday (do you have that in the States?). I like it because I always forget about it and it sneaks up and gives me a lovely surprise. It's like finding a £10 note in the back pocket of your jeans.

mmm...I like Summer Solstice the best. Everything is so green, and fresh, and it's not TOO warm just yet. It's happy, cuddly, and friendly, like puppies and kittens IP: Logged |

I love Halloween and Christmas, but I find that I'm preferring Spring more and more, every year. I love the leaves appearing, all of the green grass, the bright sunlight in the early morning - the Sun being up before 5:30am. IP: Logged |

Yep. Winter has its own beauty about it - when I walked out to the mailbox one evening, at the end of December/beginning of January, and it was so still and quiet - the snow was a purple/white, the lights from people's homes brought that cozy feeling (along with the evergreen trees around here, making it look like a Christmas card). and then there are the varying shades of leaves in the Autumn, before they all fall off. I missed out on a lot of Spring mornings this year, unfortunately - for various reasons. I'm going through this whole phase in which I worry about wasting time, and yet I still managed to do it. (I wish I could get rid of the mindset, and just enjoy again.) IP: Logged |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Din_Lligwy This is my favourite place on earth. I shall tell you a little story. Many moons ago (I was wearing platform shoes, that's how long ago) my friend and I stayed in a caravan on the island of Angelsey. On the day we were leaving she said (seeing a little sign) "Do you want to look at that ancient stone village? "Are you kidding me? I said "In these shoes? I don't think so" She insisted. I was annoyed bcause the wind made my hair stick to my lipgloss. She still insisted. We struggled across a muddy field, up a small hill through a forest. I moaned the whole way until we came upon a clearing and there was the village of Din LLigwy (Druid), eight small stone huts still standing from God knows when (2000 yrs ago) And I was never the same person again. "Oh it's just a pile of rocks" said my friend. I meanwhile wrapped myself around them whimpering "Look...you can see where they had their fires...look that's their doorway...look it's so beautiful.. This is the story of Angelesey as told by the Roman historian Tacitus. The Druids lived on Angelsey and worshipped nature, the oak tree being their symbol. The Romans came and decided it was a very useful island but as they sailed their boats up the Menai Straits to conquer it the Druids appeared on the clifftops and according to Tacitus "The women clad in black robes and painted blue tore their hair beat their breasts and shrieked an unearthly wail from the clifftops, the men beating their shields and setting up a fearful noise. The Druid priests shrieked heavenward with incantations so frightening the hardened Roman soldiers that they stood on the decks paralysed with fear and refused to go ashore. This went on all night. Eventually their general had to march along and say to them "They are barabarians, you are soldiers of Rome, they are no match for our might, swim ashore and kill them all. They did and after a night of bloody fighting, they made pyres of the sacred oak trees and put every Druid, man woman and child to the flames or to the sword. BUT Meanwhile down in the South of England, Boudicca, after sacking Colchester and sticking lots of Roman heads on spikes, was marching off to London to do the same, the Roman legions were recalled from wherever to rush down and help. So they left Angelsey relatively un Romanised and this is why it always has that strange Druid vibe...which you can't explain...until you go there....which I do as often as I can. When you sit amidst those huts you feel a connection to those ancestors as if it all just happened a moment ago. Nothing is more life affirming. Love love love it... IP: Logged |

ahhh you know what rocks? Going on a chairlift ride in the mountains in the Fall. Right around the end of September. The leaves are all changing and the weather is perfect for a light sweater or hoodie. And when you get about mid point up the ride, you can see for miles. And it looks like a huge jigsaw puzzle. The way there are different fields all different colors.. yes, Ima nerd IP: Logged |
