i don't understand, as i said on the wish circle thread, why you can't retrieve your passport, get over there, get a 6 month visitor's visa until the student visa comes through. there IS an embassy IN london who helped me renew my passport in a matter of hours there one day when i thought i had blown a tour because my passport had expired when i wasn't looking...?

I called the British Consulate and they told me, that despite paying me a $150 fee to have it done priority, that my process hasn't even started. They've had it since Tuesday, but apparently it's lying on someone's desk, unopened. Supposedly when they DO finally start it they will send me an email and I will have it in 48 hours.

I've decided to go see my Senator, Todd Platts, on Monday and ask him for help. I've been told that he can probably make a phone call and straighten them out. It's just ridiculous, seeing as classes start Monday and I've been dealing with this for 2 weeks.

I was going to do as you said- get a temporary visa until my Student Visa came through- but the Consulate made me send them my passport. There's no leaving ANY country for ANY reason without a passport.

I just keep reminding myself that everything happens for a reason. I had to cancel my flight directly to my university, and so now I'm flying into London and taking a train. Who knows, maybe I'll bump into Mr. Right and look back on this blunder as the best thing that ever happened to me! LOL!

well be ready for something good to come of it for certain!! though it may not be obvious for awhile...sorry you're being delayed but you said you can still do the course, so nothing REALLY lost (except a possible few days of sunny weather, sept is gorgeous over there often.) but knock em dead when you get there.

i'm having trouble visualizing how the british consulate could ask you to send your passport - which is supposed to be in your possession at all times - and then just hold it in limbo. legally or any other way.

I have no clue. It was in the instructions that it HAD to be the original passport. Perhaps they just REALLY need to make sure it's me?

I did a horary on the 20th, and bumped it again today. Ami looked at it and said she thinks it should be in my possession in about 9 days. So I miss two weeks of class. I'm not going to complain, even though waiting another 9 days is killer. Better to miss 3 weeks of being in England than to NEVER go.

I'm do graphology as well (the analysis of handwriting). Ralph's is very impatient. He doesn't make love to the paper, he just slaps his signature on.

Speaking of the visa, it did not come in the mail today. I pre-paid for the package it will come in to be overnighted by FedEx, so if I was going to receive it today, I would have had it by 9AM this morning.

I did ask the courier service representative to check on its status at the Consulate's Office. He said he would check it out and keep me posted. I WILL HEAR GOOD NEWS TODAY! I WILL HEAR THAT IT HAS BEEN EXPEDITED AND IS IN THE MAIL FOR TOMORROW! I WANT THIS TOO BADLYYYY!!!!

Thank you for your prayers and energy, and time. We're not out of the woods yet, but we will be soon enough.

The man from the courier service I'm using said that he hasn't heard anything about my Visa-- which means he doesn't have it. He's the person who is going to mail it to me, so when he has it, I will have it.

I sent iQ a message containing my horary(ies), asking him to take a look at see what is going on. I am just making myself too, too, too stressed over this situation. I go from being full of hope, to being full of despair. So... that's my sob story!

About Ralph, have you seen his natal? He's very watery, so it's interesting how you take note about his intelligence (which i'm certain he is), but his signature may not scream "EMOTIONAL!!!" Now, I don't know his ASC, but i've tried just about every sign on the zodiac! I'm just going to have to meet him and ask.

No, I haven't received the actual documents. The Consulate still has them, and then they go to the courier service I'm using (today!) and then I will probably drive up today and retrieve them. Or wait until they overnight them through FedEx for tomorrow... but I don't think I can be that patient.
