...My Student Visa Application has not gone through, and my flight for the UK is Wednesday. I am going to overnight my Application tomorrow to a Priority Service. BAD NEWS.I received a call today at 5PM from the terrible, rude man (i'm sorry, but he is) at this passport place in New York who has been working with me on my visa. He said that on top of the $200 fee for his service, I have to pay him another $150 to make sure the visa goes through. He also said that he doesn't know WHEN I will have my student visa. My flight is Wednesday @ 9:45 AM. It doesn't look like i'll be able to catch my plane. I will have to change my ticket, for another fee. My parents suggested calling the US Embassy and asking for a two-week temporary visa, just so i would be able to get to the UK on schedule, but the Passport place in New York also has my Passport. I doubt that I will be able to leave the US without a Passport. I am just so hurt at this point. I know that feeling sorry for myself gets me nowhere, but I just... don't understand! I think of myself as a good person, and to have all of these set-backs makes me question what I've done to deserve this. I accept that it is my fault, inevitably, that everything wasn't finished properly. Yet despite all of my best efforts to fix this nothing I've been doing as been a full-proof success. It's not that you aren't a good person, but if you leave stuff to the last minute or are negligent then you open yourself up to things not working out - especially with government paperwork. So it's not personal that it isn't working out easily, although it's probably difficult to see that right now. You won't be able to leave the US without a passport, unfortunately. I'm sorry you are heartbroken, but can you defer your program start until Spring semester? Maybe that would be best in the long run so you have plenty of time to get everything taken care of. Have you spoken to the school about the possibility of deferring if you are forced to? Even though you are scheduled to be in the program now, they should be able to change if necessary. It might make you feel better if you can find out you have options. IP: Logged |

The rules and regulations are ridiculous. We are all interconnected bro's and sis's, ffs....there should be none of this fracked up stuff....we should be able to teleport wherever we want to!! I understand your frustration and hurt, I cannot be with my true soul mate at this time for the very same ridiculous reasons....we have the love but not the money to meet visa requirements. Musette,I understand what you're saying, but according to my Study Abroad advisor from my US University, I should be able to still study. I will just be late. He said that's the worst case scenario, I just pray he's correct. Listenstotrees, My heart goes out to you. I understand your frustration with money, as the Visa fund requirements are outrageous. You just have to keep your head up, work, and save until you have the complete amount. That's all you can do, as they are not going to bend the rules for anyone. Just look on the bright side.
