I love butterflys. The catch the dew on their wings and glitter like diamonds. Course, it is winter now and snow buttdeep, so butterflies, like the dew, are wishful thinking or a fond memory.

Peace is kind of like the butterfly. It grows from a tiny egg into a winged beauty that you can`t grasp or hold but only know through the senses.

Intuition counting as a sense...

On The Wings of A Butterfly
by Christine McClimans

Your friendship is special
Like the flowers that bloom,
Or when a butterfly emerges
From within its cocoon...

You remind me of that butterfly,
Loving and free,
Bright and colorful,
For the world to see...

We will share sunshine and rainbows;
Sometimes, the rain and the snow;
We'll stand together through it,
While the cold winds blow...

When the time is right,
We won't stop to ask "Why?"
Our friendship will take flight
On the wings of a butterfly…

Love Is Like a Butterfly

Love is like a butterfly
As soft and gentle as a sigh
The multicolored moods of love are like its satin wings
Love makes your heart feel strange inside
It flutters like soft wings in flight
Love is like a butterfly, a rare and gentle thing

I feel it when you're with me
It happens when you kiss me
That rare and gentle feeling that I feel inside
Your touch is soft and gentle
Your kiss is warm and tender
Whenever I am with you I think of butterflies

Love is like a butterfly
The multicolored moods of love are like its satin wings
Love makes your heart feel strange inside
It flutters like soft wings in flight
Love is like a butterfly, a rare and gentle thing

Your laughter brings me sunshine
Everyday is spring time
And I am only happy when you are by my side
How precious is this love we share
How very precious, sweet and rare
Together we belong like daffodils and butterflies

Love is like a butterfly
As soft and gentle as a sigh
The multicolored moods of love are like its satin wings
Love makes your heart feel strange inside
It flutters like soft wings in flight
Love is like a butterfly, a rare and gentle thing

quote:
The leaf is the caterpillar which has come under the influence of what is earthly...

The whole cocoon is actually cosmic sunlight, sunlight which is interwoven with matter....

...it spins its matter in the direction of the Sun's rays...

...And finally the butterfly develops in the flower which is colored just like the butterfly in the air. The circle is completed. Just as the butterfly lays its egg, so does the flower develop within itself the new seed for the future. So you see, we look up towards the butterfly and understand it to it to be the plant raised up into the air.

...We can therefore place before ourselves two verses which give expression to a great secret of nature...

Behold the plant:
It is the butterfly
Fettered by the Earth

Behold the butterfly:
It is the plant
Freed by the cosmos

If one looks at a butterfly or indeed any insect form the stage of the egg to when it is fluttering away, it is the plant raised into the air, fashioned in the air by the cosmos. If one looks at a plant it is the butterfly in the fetters below. The egg is claimed by the earth The caterpillar is metamorphosed into leaf formation. The chrysalis formation is metamorphosed into what is contracted in the plant. And then the same principle that unfolds to give the butterfly develops into the flower in the plant. Small wonder that such an intimate relationship exists between the world of butterflies, the insect-world in general, and the world of the plants.

...You see, one must really say that understanding of the world cannot come about through abstractions. For abstractions do not attain to understanding. Cosmic activity is indeed the greatest of artists.

~ R. Steiner

The Butterfly Lovers:

The Story

Set in the picturesque town of Hangzhou (which lies about 100 miles southwest of Shanghai), the only daughter (YingTai) of a rich provincial lord disguises as a boy in order to go into higher education where she meets a scholar, ShangBo. He is talented and hard-working, but poor, but neveretheless soon she falls in love with him. However, not long after, she is ordered to return home because her parents decide to marry her into a rich family. It is then that she confesses to ShangBo of her love for him.

In spite of her declaration, YingTai is forced home to wait for the day of her marriage with the rich man, whilst ShangBo goes to the capital city to sit his exams.

Later, ShangBo receives a post as a provincial officer and goes to YingTai's family to propose marriage, but is harshly turned down because of his poor family background. ShangBo dies in the misery for his love for YingTai, and YingTai is still made to follow the engagement her parents made for her. On the day when she is sent to the wedding ceremony, her carriage passes by ShangBo's tomb. She goes down from her carriage to pay her tribute to ShangBo, a request she made to her parents. As she knelt in from of his tomb, the tomb opens and she steps in...

YingTai disappears, and onlookers only see two butterflies flying out of the tomb. It was said that they were ShangBo and YingTai, freed from the bounds of tradition. http://butterflylovers.org/

Synopsis of The Last Unicorn (and butterfly)

The last Unicorn begins following two hunters through an enchanted forest. They quickly determine they will catch no game while in a unicorn’s forest and move on shouting out to the unicorn a warning to stay where she is for she is the last.

Some time later the unicorn meets a butterfly and as butterflies are known for their travel she asks him if she is indeed the last. After much nonsense and riddles the Butterfly tells the unicorn a story of a flaming bull that chased all the unicorns to a far away land. The unicorn then decides she must seek the other unicorns and the truth out by leaving the safety of her forest.

Along the way the unicorn falls asleep and his captured by a witch named Mommy Fortuna and her hunch back goon Ruhk and put into a traveling sideshow of magical creatures. A magician named Schmendrick who travels with the carnival sees that while all but one of Fortuna’s other creatures are illusions the unicorn is real and sets her free. Schmendrick also frees the side shows only other authentic creature, the Harpy who kills both Fortuna and her hunch back. Schmendrick then joins the unicorn on her quest and attempts to lead her to King Haggard’s castle, who he hears controls the Red Bull.

On the road to the castle Schmendrick is captured by a band of thieves and the unicorn must save him. While doing so she attracts the attention of the king of the thieves' wife, Molly Grue. Molly who has always sought to find a unicorn as many young maidens do, joins their quest.

The three continue on their way entering a town under King Haggard’s rule. A villager named Drinn tells them of the evil of King Haggard and of a young baby he adopted that was prophesied to bring the king from his throne and free the land of his tyranny.

Back on the road again the trio finally encounters the fabled Red Bull and he attempts to herd the last unicorn to the others. In an attempt to save her Schmendrick performs a spell which turns her into a human girl. This fools the Red Bull at the time, and allows the party to enter Haggard’s castle under the guise of a simple court magician, a cook and the Lady Amalthea who is the last unicorn.

King Haggard’s son Lir who is later discovered to be the boy the villager Drinn spoke of falls in love with Lady Amalthea and in time she falls for him as well. The unicorn begins to forget her past and who she is even after King Haggard reveals he has herded all the unicorns into the sea because they are all that makes him happy.

Soon King Haggard begins to suspect and even accuses Lady Amalthea of being the last unicorn. However with the help of a cat’s clues they find the entrance to the Red Bull’s lair and accompanied by Lir set out to save the unicorns.

When they meet the Red Bull they are attacked and Schmendrick manages to turn Amalthea back into a unicorn feeling this is the only way she can defeat him. Lir attempts to save her from the Red Bull and is killed. In rage and sorrow brought on by the death of her love the unicorn drives the Red Bull into the sea freeing the unicorns of the world , destroying King Haggard’s castle with him within it, and killing the Red Bull.

The last unicorn revives Lir using the power of her horn but remembering her forest and what she truly is runs away. Lir tries to follow her at first and discovers that Drinn from the village is really his [[father] and that he has now fulfilled his destiny but he must rule as King over the land. Schmendrick and Molly go on the adventure together and Lir returns to restore the land to prosperity.

One of my butterfly gardens that contain milkweed for the Monarch`s to lay their eggs on. Milkweed is the only plant Monarchs lay eggs on and has become rare here due to pesticides/farming practices and gardners are requested to let some grow.
