Spring may surpise me this year

I might actually find myself
on the Champs Elysees
with nothing to do but make love with you
in an attic room overlooking the Seine
or lying on the grass in the Bois de Boulogne

and suddenly, I'll notice it's April!

or I could just as easily wake up in the Highlands
drenched in an uncanny, golden glow
mingled with the spray of a fine Scottish mist
like the rain I ran through
in a flash of deja vu
one day at an airport in the mountains

I'll spend lazy hours
shopping for a haunted old castle to live in
since I just won the Pulitzer prize you'll be reading to me from Robert Burns
under Edinburgh skies

and suddenly I'll remember it's April!

I might fly down the aisle
of a wildflower church in the Alps
ringing its bells for joy

and it's possible I'll win the Irish Sweepstakes
the same day my musical opens on Broadway
with floodlights and stars
like a gigantic Michael Todd production

or be born again -- singing
in some little cemetery
taking its time
out west

Spring owes me something

so far she's pulled off a few splendid sparklers
a plump rosy angel who stayed for a while
a make-believe tree house
and once, a shiny gold ring

but not a real Block Buster Sky Rocket miracle
like she always promised

maybe this year, unexpectedly

I read this yesterday

Make your own suet cake for the birds now and freeze for their summer dining experience

Making homemade wild bird food for suet feeders is an inexpensive way to attract a variety of colorful songbirds to your backyard. Almost all species of birds love sunflower seeds, peanuts and fruit; many commercial suet cakes contain these ingredients in a base of animal fat, peanut butter and coarse flour. It's easy to make your own versions of this nutritious wild bird food. To bring in the greatest number of bird species, set out a selection of wild bird food on a regular basis, and use suet feeders or a bird seed feeder to make it easy for birds to snack.

Things You'll Need:
1 cup raisins
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup peanuts or sunflower seeds
1 cup uncooked oatmeal
1/2 cup unsalted lard, room temperature
1 cup milk
1 cup wheat germ
1 cup plus 1 tablespoon flour
Large bowl
Wooden spoon
Pie pan
Suet feeders

•1
Mix all ingredients except raisins and 1 tablespoon flour together in a large bowl to form a thick batter.

•2
Dredge raisins in 1 tablespoon flour, then add to the batter and mix well with the wooden spoon.

•3
Grease the pie pan with lard or butter. Pour the batter into the pie pan.

•4
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. When hot, bake the batter for about one hour or until fairly solid.

•5
Take the "pie" out of the oven and let it cool thoroughly. Break the pie into large pieces.

•6
Fill your suet feeders or platform-style bird seed feeders with your homemade suet cakes and watch the birds flock to your backyard

Beautiful EES.

I really like the last one.
GUESS WHAT? Today was in the 40's.
Well, in the afternoon.
It's dropped in temp again, but it MELTED THE SNOW. WOO HOO.
My dogs got a little frisky, jumping around and tracking mud everywhere, but did I care? NOOOOOO....

OK, peeps, Valentines day over..
Next holiday is St. Patrick's
from there it's just a little jump and a skip to the warm days.
"Jump and a skip" reminds me of this..

Jack Frost glittered on the windows this morning but late winter sun on the horizon soon took care of him.

It`s cold but the chickadees are singing their spring song and when my seedlings hear them, they will grow in leaps and bounds

Time to transplant your seedlings into bigger pots and spring clean your house plants.

Happy March!!

Spring came a month early here. It started over a week ago. Crepe Myrtle is fully bloomed all over the place, bees are gathering pollen, birds are singing in the morning, and flowers are on the way.

What does crepe murtle look like??

We still have bare boned trees... temps are in the 40's, I hope they hold out.

Tomorrow is a rain storm/thunderstorm, I hope there is no flooding.
Moving in the rain is no fun.

Huge wet snowflakes tumbling from the sky today. A foot expected

Yesterday, near the foundation of the house, was 3 tiny daffodil shoots peeking out.

Hurry Spring before they give up!!

There is a big patch of lawn in my backyard. Yay! The ice road that was my driveway is now simply an ice path and there are fruit flies emerging... Yikes!

Supposed to rain/snow tomorrow though..

IN like a lion, OUT like a lamb I reckon!

Check! Freezing and rainy as we speak.

I'm in denial!!

I arrived once again, like the spring breeze;
I rose like the sun visible to all....
I am the Sun in mid-summer,
contrary to the old season;
I have brought liveliness and joy to gardens.
A thousand ring doves are searching for me in their songs.
A thousand nightingales and
parrots are flying in my directions.
The news of my arrival reached the fish in the sea;
The ferment of the sea created a thousand waves.
Rumi~
