Well first and formost Linda!

I love any character who doesnt put up with crap from anyone. Strong people I really admire. Like Melanie Griffith in Working Girl (I think thats what its called).

I can relate to Sandra Bullock in While You Were Sleeping (my fav movie and total chick flick). I want a man to love me like that someday. And her personality in that movie is a lot like me.

And Anne of a Green gables I think I find similarities in both of them and that resonated with my personality as a child too ..

Oh yes the newer (like 90's?) WB version of A Little Princes is one of the only movies that can make me cry. I feel like the book has molded my thinking and worldly views too. Sara Crew is so philosophical.

I read Anne of Green Gables. One of my favorite books. It's such a nice book. I also was in the play of it when I was like 12 or 13, and I got to play Dianna. Ironically, me and the girl that played Anne didn't like each other that much. And the director would even say "can you two act like your best friends and like each other when we where in a scene together!?" My acting was so-so back then. Singing was my strong suit.

Preacher from the movie "Pale Rider"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pale_Rider

Pale Rider is not the only Eastwood film to have clear religious overtones throughout, "Two Mules for Sister Sara"is another, though several of his other films such as "High Plains Drifter" also make heavy use of spiritual and supernatural ideas and imagery.

In an audio interview, Clint Eastwood revealed that his character Preacher "is an out-and-out ghost". But whereas High Plains Drifter resolves the supernatural story-line by means of a series of unfolding flash back narratives, Pale Rider does not include any such obvious clues to the nature and past of the 'Preacher'. One is left to draw one's own conclusions regarding the overall story line and its meaning.

Pale Rider also uses religious and spiritual language. Most notably, the movie's title is a reference to the fourth and most sinister of God's avenging angels of the Apocalypse who rides a pale horse, as told in The Book of Revelation, chapter 6, verse 8: "And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him." The reading of the biblical passage describing this character is neatly choreographed to correspond with the sudden appearance of the Preacher, who arrived as a result of a prayer from 14-year-old Megan (Sydney Penny), in which she quoted Psalm 23. The main opponent of the Preacher is called Stockburn. Eastwood's comment after beating one of the villains is, "Well, the Lord certainly does work in mysterious ways." After the temptation to shift his ministry to the town, Preacher says, "You can't serve God and Mammon, Mammon being money."Eastwood himself has admitted that the film contains a great number of biblical parallels. According to Robert Jewett the film's dialogue parallels Paul's teaching on divine retribution (Romans 12:19-21).

Sarah Wheeler: Who are you? Who are you... really?
The Preacher: Well, it really doesn't matter, does it?

Two from the movie "Serenity"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serenity_%28film%29

Capt. Malcolm Reynolds.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malcolm_Reynolds

Malcolm's main mission is to keep his crew alive and to keep his ship flying. As Firefly writer Tim Minear stated in an interview: "It's just about getting by. That's always been the mission statement of what the show is — getting by."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPRlHwwVIug&feature=related

Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Come a day there won't be room for naughty men like us to slip about at all. This job goes south, there well may not be another. So here is us, on the raggedy edge. Don't push me, and I won't push you.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uMAKtXlXf4&NR=1

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov7e3p1I1UM&NR=1

The Operative: I'm sorry. If your quarry goes to ground, leave no ground to go to. You should have taken my offer. Or did you think none of this was your fault?
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: I don't murder children.
The Operative: I do. If I have to.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Why? Do you even know why they sent you?
The Operative: It's not my place to ask. I believe in something greater than myself. A better world. A world without sin.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: So me and mine gotta lay down and die... so you can live in your better world?
The Operative: I'm not going to live there. There's no place for me there... any more than there is for you. Malcolm... I'm a monster. What I do is evil. I have no illusions about it, but it must be done.

The Operative.

In the Firefly universe, the Operative is an agent of the Alliance government. Similar to a black ops agent, the Operative does work that is not specifically acknowledged by the government. He has no name or official rank; however, he has free access to the Alliance facility where River(a girl) was being studied, as well as deference from its highest-ranking scientists.

The Operative: Secrets are not my concern. Keeping them is.

Ghost Dog: The way of the samurai

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_Dog:_The_Way_of_the_Samurai

Ghost Dog (Forest Whitaker) sees himself as a retainer of Louie (John Tormey), a local mobster, who saved Ghost Dog's life years ago. While living as a hired hitman for the Italian Mafia, he strictly follows Hagakure.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hagakure

Hagakure is sometimes said to assert that bushido is really the "Way of Dying" or living as though one was already dead.

Ghost Dog: It is a good viewpoint to see the world as a dream. When you have something like a nightmare, you will wake up and tell yourself that it was only a dream. It is said that the world we live in is not a bit different from this.

Paul Atreides/Paul Muad'Dib

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Atreides

A primary theme of Dune and its sequels is Frank Herbert's warning about society's tendencies to "give over every decision-making capacity" to a charismatic leader.

The son of Duke Leto Atreides I and the Lady Jessica, Paul Atreides is the heir of House Atreides, a nuclear-armed aristocratic family that rules the planet Caladan.

Paul: I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when my fear is gone I will turn and face fear's path, and only I will remain.

Muad'Dib learned rapidly because his first training was in how to learn. And the first lesson of all was the basic trust that he could learn. It's shocking to find how many people do not believe they can learn, and how many more believe learning to be difficult. Muad'Dib knew that every experience carries its lesson.

Master Li Mu Bai

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crouching_Tiger,_Hidden_Dragon

The name "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" is a literal translation of the Chinese proverb "卧虎藏龙" which refers to the mysteries that lie below the surface of an otherwise normal-looking individual.

http://www.decentfilms.com/articles/cthd-article.html

The contradiction between the film’s humanist sensibilities and those of Eastern philosophy is most clearly manifested in three crucial exchanges between two of the main characters, warrior-heroes Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun-Fat) and Yu Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh). Taken together, these three exchanges - strategically located at the film’s beginning, midpoint, and climax — embrace the reality and meaning of human attachments in this life over against the view of Taoist mysticism that sees this world as illusory and detachment as the way to enlightenment.

Li Mu Bai: The things we touch have no permanence. My master would say: there is nothing we can hold onto in this world. Only by letting go can we truly possess what is real.

Li Mu Bai: No growth without assistance. No action without reaction. No desire without restraint. Now give yourself up and find yourself again.

King Baldwin IV of Jerusalem

Kingdom of Heaven

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Heaven_%28film%29

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baldwin_IV_of_Jerusalem

Baldwin IV of Jerusalem (1161–16 March 1185), called the Leper or the Leprous, the son of Amalric I of Jerusalem and his first wife, Agnes of Courtenay, was king of Jerusalem from 1174 to 1185. His full sister was Queen Sibylla of Jerusalem and his nephew through this sister (who succeeded him) was the child-king Baldwin V. He had a half sister through his father's second marriage, Queen Isabella I of Jerusalem.

Bishop, Patriarch of Jerusalem: The things that we have left undone plague us as death comes. That is why to the dying there is no comfort but the Lord.

King Baldwin IV: Spare me your sermon. Go and prepare your people for the coronation of my nephew.

Bishop, Patriarch of Jerusalem: Your confession, my lord.

King Baldwin IV: I shall confess to God when I see him... not to you. Now, leave me.

Titus Pullo

HBO series Rome

http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0027721/

A foot soldier with the legendary 13th Legion, Titus is focused only on wine, women and food. Although he appears to be a shallow person, as we see more of him, it becomes clear that he is loyal, loaded with common sense and the guy you want to have around when the going gets tough. Although he disagrees with much of what Lucius Vorenus does, Pullo stands by his friend. The great thing about this character is he is mentioned by name in Julius Caesar's account of the war in Gaul.

*Titus on the left, Lucius on the right.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqzDrFX-cNs

Titus Pullo: [about Princess Cleopatra] That Gyppo princess, now that's good cunny.
Lucius Vorenus: Her father's people rode with Alexander, you can't speak of her like that.
Titus Pullo: She is, though. And she wants me badly.
[Vorenus laughs]
Titus Pullo: Should've seen her when I done that Nubian. Wet as October
[sniggers]
Lucius Vorenus: Pullo, look at me. She is a princess of royal blood. You touch her, you die.
Titus Pullo: I'm not stupid. I'm just saying she wants me.

Titus Pullo: [in a brothel] What's your price, then?
Madame: One thousand.
Titus Pullo: [swearing] I could have half the ****** in Narbo for that, and their mothers!
Madame: We're not in Narbo, wherever that might be.
Titus Pullo: All right, my dove, we'll pay, but the girl better **** him like Helen of Troy with her ass on fire, or I'll know the reason why!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legio_XIII_Gemina

Legio tertia decima Gemina (Thirteenth Twin Legion) was one of the most prominent Roman legions. It was one of Julius Caesar's key units in Gaul and in the civil war, and was the legion with which he famously crossed the Rubicon on January 10, 49 BC. The legion appears to have still been in existence in the fifth century. Its symbol was the lion.

John W. Creasy

Man on Fire

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_on_Fire_%282004_film%29

Former Recon Marine John Creasy (Denzel Washington) travels to Ciudad Juarez to visit his friend and former CIA colleague Paul Rayburn (Christopher Walken) who owns a private-sector security firm to protect business executives. Creasy confides that he has become an alcoholic, disillusioned with life because of the horrors of his past and Rayburn offers his support, encouraging Creasy to take a job as a bodyguard in Mexico City. Due to the extremely high rate of kidnappings in Mexico City for the lucrative ransom money, businessman Samuel Ramos (Marc Anthony) hires Creasy to guard his nine year-old daughter Lupita "Pita" (Dakota Fanning) and Creasy reluctantly accepts.

Pita: Do you have a girlfriend, Creasy?
Creasy: What?
Pita: Do you have a girlfriend?
Creasy: No. What kind of question is that, anyway? You're supposed to be studying history, okay?
Pita: It is history... Creasy history.
Creasy: No, that's ancient history.

Sister Anna: Do you ever see the Hand of God in what you do?
Creasy: No, not for a long time.
Sister Anna: The Bible says, "Do not be over come with evil, but overcome...?
Creasy: But overcome evil with good."
Creasy: [in spanish] That's Romans Chapter 12 Verse 21.
Creasy: I am the sheep that got lost, Madre

Merlin

Excalibur (1981)

http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0027075/

Merlin is the wizard that helps King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table with his magic. He is a powerful sorcerer.

Merlin: You brought me back. Back to where you are now. In the land of dreams.
Arthur: Are you a dream Merlin?
Merlin: [softly] A dream to some.
Merlin: [Yelling] A nightmare to others!

Morgana: Your eyes never leave me, Merlin.
Merlin: Can't I acknowledge beauty?
Morgana: Can't you acknowledge... love? Perhaps you ache for what you've never known.
Merlin: Perhaps you lust for what you cannot have.

Merlin: What are you afraid of?
Arthur: I don't know.
Merlin: Shall I tell you what's out there?
Arthur: Yes, please.
Merlin: The Dragon. A beast of such power that if you were to see it whole and all complete in a single glance, it would burn you to cinders.
Arthur: Where is it?
Merlin: It is everywhere! It is everything! Its scales glisten in the bark of trees, its roar is heard in the wind! And its forked tongue strikes like... like...
[lightning strikes near their feet]
Merlin: Whoa! Like lightning! Yes, that's it.
Arthur: How can I...? What should I...? Must I...?
Merlin: Do nothing. Be still. Sleep. Rest in the arms of the Dragon. Dream.

Lucifer

Constantine

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constantine_%28film%29

Lucifer: A fallen angel who is in a proxy war with God for the souls of all mankind.

Gabriel: Lucifer!
Lucifer: This world is mine, in time. You best of all of us, Gabriel, should understand ambition.
John Constantine: How's the family?
Lucifer: Family's doing just fine. Busy, busy, busy, busy. Need a vacation
Gabriel[ to Lucifer]: Son of perdition. Little horn! Most unclean!
Lucifer: [nostalgic] I do miss the old names.
Lucifer [to John]: Sonny, I've got a whole theme park full of red delights for you.
John Constantine: Aren't you a peach?

*Something about his sauntering style that caught my eye.

Jacob

Lost
http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Jacob

Jacob and his twin brother spent centuries debating the nature of humanity, all the while his brother trying to find a loophole that would let him kill Jacob.

Jacob: It only ends once. Anything that happens before that is just progress.

Jacob: You were looking for something you couldn't find out there. I chose you because you needed this place as much as it needed you.

Lieutenant/Captain Ronald Speirs

HBO series Band Of Brothers

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Band_of_Brothers_%28TV_miniseries%29

http://wikiofbrothers.wikia.com/wiki/Capt._Ronald_Speirs

Ronald Speirs was born in Edinburgh Scotland, and later moved to Massachusetts. He joined the US Airborne Army, and was assigned to Dog Company. He dropped off in Normandy, and helped in the Brecourt Manor assault and singlehandedly took out a howitzer. At the Battle of Bulge, he was transferred to Easy Company, and made company CO. He died in 2007.

Ronald Spiers: The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you're already dead. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function: without mercy, without compassion, without remorse. All war depends upon it.

Sgt. Burton 'Pat' Christenson: The stories about Speirs are probably all ******** anyway.
Ken Webb: Stories? What stories?
Frank Perconte: Well, supposedly, Speirs shot one of his own men for being drunk.
Ken Webb: You're kidding. That's unbelievable.
Sgt. Burton 'Pat' Christenson: Yeah, and there's another one about him giving cigarettes to twenty German POW's before killing 'em.
Ken Webb: He shot twenty POW's?
Frank Perconte: Well, actually, I heard it was more like thirty.
Ronald Spiers: [Speirs arrives] Christenson.
Sgt. Burton 'Pat' Christenson: Lieutenant Speirs.
Ronald Spiers: I got the name right, didn't I? Christenson?
Sgt. Burton 'Pat' Christenson: Yes, sir.
Ronald Spiers: What are you men doing out here?
Sgt. Burton 'Pat' Christenson: We're watching the line, sir.
Ronald Spiers: Well, keep up the good work. While you're at it, you might want to reinforce your cover.
Frank Perconte: Oh... well actually, sir, Lieutenant Dike said not even to bother, that we're only gonna be here one day.
Ronald Spiers: Lieutenant Dike said that, huh? Then forget what I said. Carry on.
[starting to walk away. Then turns around]
Ronald Spiers: Oh, anyone care for a smoke?
[Christenson and Perconte look at him silently]
Ronald Spiers: [to Webb] You?
[Webb shakes his head vigorously]

Ronald Spiers:[to Lipton] What is it?
Carwood Lipton: Nothing.
Ronald Spiers: Well, I'd better get back to Battalion before they disappear. You want to ask me, don't you?
Carwood Lipton: Ask you what, sir?
Ronald Spiers: You want to know if they're true or not... the stories about me. Did you ever notice with stories like that, everyone says they heard it from someone who was there. But then when you ask *that* person, they say *they* heard it from someone who was there. It's nothing new, really. I bet if you went back two thousand years, you'd hear a couple of centurions standing around, yakking about how Tertius lopped off the heads of some Carthaginian prisoners.
Carwood Lipton: Well, maybe they kept talking about it because they never heard Tertius deny it.
Ronald Spiers: Well, maybe that's because Tertius knew there was some value to the men thinking he was the meanest, toughest son of a ***** in the whole Roman Legion.
[Turns to leave]
Carwood Lipton: Sir? These men aren't really concerned about the stories. They're just glad to have you as our CO. They're happy to have a good leader again.
Ronald Spiers: Well, from what I've heard, they've always had one. I've been told there's always been one man they could count on. Led them into the Bois Jacques, held them together when they had the crap shelled out of them in the woods. Every day, he kept their spirits up, kept the men focused, gave 'em direction... all the things a good combat leader does. You don't have any idea who I'm talking about, do you?
Carwood Lipton: No, sir.
