power to Grannys

Ours is 82 yrs young and has out lived 2 husbands, had 2 heart attacks, a stroke, type 2 diabetes and most recently, a broken hip and fractured pelvis.

On Saturday nights, she throws her walker in her Ford Explorer and heads for the pub. There she taps her feet to the polka music, sips her draft beer and smokes her Pall Malls...

She wears shorts and sleeveless blouses much to the disgust of her great grand kids and I say you go Granny!!

As a Granny, may I always have the spunk to fly in the face of convention and enjoy life... my way.

I will be 50 in March..

And while age begins to take it's physical toll.. I love the wisdom obtained with "aging."

I look younger now than I did in my 30's with small children...

Tisk, tisk, emotional and mental age is a state of mind, for sure...the phyiscality of it all, does remind us we are not what we used to be...however...WOULD NOT TRADE THIS TIME OF MY LIFE FOR ANYTHING!!!

Absolutely Terri! Being a Crone, Grandmother, Granny or Elder is a place of wisdom and carrys the flavor of " been there done that " understanding .

I wouldn`t wish to be a cronological youngster again for all the tea in China

Good for you! I look younger than years ago too! And oh my yes, I would not want to trade my hard gotten wisdom from experience, nor do I want to be young again.
Of course a better body would be wonderful, but age is not the reasons my body is a disaster;
it is from birth defects, to illness and disabling injuries when I only 33.

Yay to your Granny!
Most of the cool "old" ladies I have known, did have
such mags and various adult buzz buzz toys.
(as we age we can indeed become multi-orgasmic and actually enjoy sex way more!)
Oh yes! Sexy lingerie is definitely a thing many do wear, even if just for themselves.
It makes one feel sexy!

I am more in tune with myself and everything far more than when younger.
Except for wanting not to be disabled;
I am happier with myself than when younger.
Confidence and knowing what I want and going for it is easier now too.

Juni~I have a (very painfully done lol!) tattoo on my upper back, near the neck that is the Duridac Triple Goddess (maiden, mother crone...) and I love it too for the tri-dent symbolism of Pisces.

Sounds lovely!
I want tattoos!
However I am concerned about allergic reactions to the inks.
Is there any way to check that before getting tattoos?
to you too hippichick! {{{hugs}}}

O, and Lexx...my beautiful Grandma was 94 when she finally gave in..

However...even at 94 her spirit was even younger than the day she was born..

She was one of those folks who grew younger in spirit the more she aged..

Formerly I wanted to be cremated...but I have now accepted a plot in Northern Indiana beside my Granny and sooner or later my mother, my grandpa and me...

In the middle of a sweet, quaint Amish community in Napanee Indiana...

That is so sweet!
Oh yes, it is not just older ladies who can be so cool and so young!
Frankin was 96 and I adored him!
When I was younger I often went for folks 50+years older who were so young minded!
Now that I am older those cool old fellows are long gone.......one would be like 145 if still living in body.......
so now I am attracted to intelligent younger men without the baggage and the old coot macho attitudes of too many guys my age.

Same as my birthday?
As to her being mid 70s, I am only 15 years younger. I have to admit that does bother me a bit. The 70s are not so far away.
Oh I was never into jelloshots even when I was young.LOL!

Awwwww Thank you Voix_de_la_Mer!
I am doing my best to keep a young mind and attitude!
Even when in much pain I do not feel old, only miserable;
but not old!

Lucky woman to be so fit.
I am seriously radically even hysterically upset at the moment.
Not about my age or even being obese.
I AM UPSET BECAUSE MY BEING SO FRAKING DISABLED IS SCREWING UP MY LIFE AS IT HAS BEEN SINCE FRAKING 1989!
THAT IS 23 YEARS COME FEBRUARY 2012 LONGER THAN MANY FOLKS HAVE BEEN ALIVE OR MOST OF MANY FOLKS' LIVES.
WHY DO I EVEN TRY ANYMORE????????????????
I HAVE BEEN SCREAMING AND CRYING FOR THE PAST FEW MINUTES.
I CANNOT HELP IT THAT I LET FOLKS DOWN.
I CANNOT JUST JUMP TO AND DO WHAT FOLKS WANT WHEN THEY WANT!
I CANNOT HELP IT THAT I AM ALWAYS IN FRAKING PAIN AND CANNOT SEE WELL TOO OFTEN.
I AM SO DAMN SICK AND TIRED OF NOT HAVING TIME OR THE HEALTH TO DO FUN THINGS WITH THOSE I LOVE!
WHY THE FRAKE WOULD I OR ANYONE BE A SLACKER ABOUT HAVING FUN, DOING ENJOYABLE THINGS WITH THE FOLKS THEY LOVE OR ONE THEY LOVE?
IT'S NOT MY FRAKING FAULT I AM DISABLED!
OLD I CAN HANDLE, FAT I CAN HANDLE.....
BUT BEING DISABLED IS TAKING ME CLOSER TO THE EDGE OF SAYING FRAKE IT FRAKE FRAKE MY LIFE ALREADY!
Very ANGRY HURT AND depressed here.
Sorry folks.
Oh gods the emotional pain is near more than I can bear.
How can I go on????????????
Add in shite like water is coming through my first floor into my living room ceiling from hole in roof and too many other things...........
losing my composure here going rather mad.....

Thank you NickiG
My ex to be took me on nice drive through the country side and we saw lots of wild deer.
I feel a wee bit calmer now but still VERY VERY VERY hurt and sad.
Yes, I have had lots mini-strokes since 2004 and it has permanently damaged my eyes.
I cannot read 3 to 7 books a week any longer and reading now is a major production requiring all kinds of visual aids.
And yes, I have, many times, even this past year, had to relearn talking, typing and so forth to a degree.
I am not a slacker.
I do not lack motivation.
I do my best each day.
Even my ex to be was like;
"YOU'RE FAR FROM BEING A SLACKER! YOU ARE ALWAYS OVER DOING IT!"
It sucks being disabled but I never slack off....
I am always doing something!
I cry often because I am if anything over motivated and it is very depressing to have my body often kibosh my doing things I want to do.
Even when online, I need to use pain meds, hot packs, tens unit and so forth just to be able to be at the computer.
Most folks probably did not know that fact.
I do not just sit here like non disabled folks.
And often only one eye at a time works right so its a strain to type and read here.
But its worth it!
Shite I even work whilst watching a movie!
The closest thing to slacking off I do is coming here to LL,
but I do not see that as slacking off!
This is my main social outlet and you are all my friends and family!

I know just how you feel.
It can be very discouraging.
It's bad enough to have the ailments in the first place, but then to be harassed about it by people that are supposed to love and support you, is sometimes too much.
I think about the years I've lost to being sick.
My youngest daughter doesn't have the same memories of me as my older two children.
When the older ones recall things I did,
my youngest one looks confused.
She doesn't really know anything but a "half-there" Mom.
I have a whole lot of guilt about that.
But, you learn that forcing yourself only makes things WORSE.
Honestly, I try not to think about it.
That's how I get by.
Also, distraction, changing scenery, keeping busy with small manageable things, etc..

I hope you feel better soon.
We all love you, Lexx.

You described it well.
I can totally relate to all you said.
Sorry you are going through same kind of things.
It hurts and no one really understands unless like you they are only able to be normal 1/2 the time, or worse.
and forcing oneself always makes things worse.
I feel like I let everyone down but I cannot help it.
I was feeling optimistic and as always, my optimism got a hard kick and well I do not feel optimistic now, nor worth a damn, just a burden and a huge disappointment to a couple folks I love.
I will try and reply more to you after meds kick in.
Love you dearheart. {{{hugs}}}
