^^ Sigh, I have a similar note on my profile and this doesn't stop the grandpas from trying to hit it. I've learned to ignore the weirdos straight away. I get a lot of attention as it is. Also, if they have issues, I cut it cold. I'm looking for emotionally healthy people even just for sex. IP: Logged |

They finally left me alone after I added a note saying that I was sure they were very nice people, but that I was offended when a) they kept ignoring my age requirements and b) were usually overlooking women their own age, in favour of younger women. I read an article about OKcupid, concerning that. Most women apparently wanted men around their own age (as I did), but most men were looking to reclaim their youth with a younger woman. I felt bad at times, like with the one 53 year old guy who messaged me and said that he wished I lived closer, but it also bothered me - it also sounded like he just assumed that I would jump at him, whereas women aren't 'allowed' to be as picky, according to society, once they reach a certain age. So, I'm allowed to feel bad about my age, and am supposed to ignore my wants and needs, but they aren't... pfft. IP: Logged |

Also, the time I changed my preferences to "looking for friends" and added in there that I didn't want to be messaged by any man who was in a relationship, unless his girlfriend was okay with it (for *friends*), I heard from a woman wanting to find another woman for a threesome. That was within seconds of my changing my profile. IP: Logged |

teasel, i once had a guy who i was messaging for a time who seemed completely normal...up until he randomly out of the blue asked me a question about sex...i had asked him to stop talking to me like that (it was really rude the way he asked) but kept at it...i even threatened to report him even after my threats he kept at it...so i reported him and he is now banned i too use OkCupid, and that is where this took place ------------------ I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate? when organic is used to describe food then you know we have come to a dark age in history IP: Logged |

I like OkCupid compared to some of the gay "dating" sites out there. (Sausage-fests is more like it.) The problem I've encountered on there is that I live like 20 minutes outside of NYC and for whatever reason the guys who live in one of the boroughs feel that taking a 20 minute train ride to the burbs is just too much to deal with. If your location isn't listed as New York City or Brooklyn you'd might as well have the Bubonic Plague. I suppose in a city of 8 million, they can afford to be that picky.IP: Logged |

lol... The thing with the city is that you could be stuck on the subway for more than an hour trying to get from one end of Manhattan to the other, never mind coming from Queens or Brooklyn. Yet, for some reason taking the train to the burbs is unreasonable. IP: Logged |

Twice? Hahahahaha... it depends how many roommates you have. 1 bedrooms can go between $800-2000 per month depending on the location. I went to college upstate and my roommates and I paid $300 a month for a 3 bedroom apartment. ($900 all together.) Down here... yeah... that doesn't happen. IP: Logged |

I actually just peeked at craigslist. It's more like $1200-3000+ per month. The city is way overpriced, but salaries are generally higher in this area. Plus, NYC is amazing. IP: Logged |

Well, I'm applying to teach in South Korea, so I'm about to experience crowding like I've never known before. And, honestly, I don't mind the crowding in NYC. You just have to remember to avoid Times Square at all costs. IP: Logged |

Nicki - I won't ask where you live, but daaaammmmnnnnn....! I live about 20 minutes outside of DC (if there was magically no traffic), and I paid $450/mo for a room in a group house back in 2002 - and everyone asked how I found such a great deal!IP: Logged |
