I know I know I know...............
(mumbling to self)
I should have known better but this friend of mine asked me what I've been doing and I simply responded "doing some astro charts". His response "with your logical mind?". My response "Good question!" Little did I know he simply meant that 1) any reasonable person on planet earth is not looking into astrology and 2) astrology is not a science and that's a 100% known fact.
WHERE do I find such "friends"?! You tell me!! My life sucks! URGH.

PS: Of course this "friend" does not know that I'm doing tarot readings. He would have died on the spot. LOL He also looks down to anything to do with angels, runes, any kind of divination and is only interested in "the Truth"........

Do you have ANY idea how hard it is for me to find like-minded people??

I'm not 100% ONE or the OTHER. I'm so into ALL of it. I'm a scientist with a phd in my field AND at the same time a reader with a love for astrology, divination, who loves and has seen (and heard) angels, AND I'm not nuts. LOL

I just can't find many people in this lifetime who are like this. I only share 50% of me with the people I know. And 50% is already too high given that they are never even able to accept the whole half of me and my quirky interests.

Rant over.

I can relate so much. I was told by a boss one time, if I talk about Astrology, he would fire me, of course, I reported it to HR. He wasnt suppose to say that. After that incident, I found myself not opening up about it too much at first. I would look into Astrology meetings in your area. Its refreshing to speak with like minded people. I cant believe people believe in half the stuff they hear on the news/tv but theyre not openminded about subjects like Astrology.

This reminds of the quote: “Be Who You Are and Say What You Feel Because Those Who Mind Don't Matter and Those Who Matter Don't Mind.”

Thank you so much for chiming in, birdy.
I have not come across any astro mtgs in the area but I should check more diligently.
I live in a very backwards place as it is.
I hate it to like someone to feel close and then BOOM they simply can't accept a part of me. Why can't people be open to someone's interests? I mean, I know nothing about fishing. When I was dating a Pisces (lol) I would spend hours and hours with him at a lake. Why? No clue!! I just wanted to be with him I guess. Just because I thought nothing about fishing didn't mean I had to close my mind to it. I still have no clue about how to fish but I know how to accept a friend and their hobbies in my life. I want the same dammit.

So far, I've had:

1) Extreme Bible-based Christians looking at me horrified when I asked for their birthday and astro sign, refused to even discuss the many ways in which "I am sinful" in their books, making me feel worst than the Anti-Christ for simply asking for their birthday!

2) "Scientists" or opponents of the philosophical doctrine that is called objectivism looking at me like I'm nuts when I asked for their birthday and astro sign. When I inquired as to how they concluded "scientifically" that astrology is rubbish, I get -at best- a "shall we drop this".

3) Others who when I asked for their birthday and astro sign, they gladly gave it to me but then when I mentioned (as part of relevant discussion) that I'm a PhD in field X, they turned their heads the other way.

Apparently, I'm not allowed to be BOTH/ALL sides of me.

STOP TRYING TO FIT ME INTO LITTLE BOXES.

Major Aqua Rising conj Mars in Aqua Rant Over.

PS: I blame T Pluto for the rant (T Pl sq Uranus as we speak).

I just don't bring it up if I think it will be a problem. It's an easy task for me as I just focus on what's ok to show (as opposed to pretending to be someone I'm not) and share and go with that while putting the "unacceptable" on a back burner. Not only is it useful for co-existing with neighbors, it's crucial in many of my business dealings.

But I have messed up in the past. I often laugh about these experiences in retrospect.

Yeah, I normally avoid it too.
But you get close to someone sometimes you are spontaneous. Hence the bumping of the heads...

I don't have a PhD in my field (...I'm not even sure what my field is... ), but I did begin exploring astrology in an attempt to discredit it - I always hated the descriptions of Pisces Sun and didn't possibly think it could be me.

...Then, the evidence swayed me.
I can't explain why it works, but I can say that it demonstrably seems to.

You learn to manage it after a while.

It's usually a bigger deal when you first get on the Esoteric Path.

I do not have one close real life friend who is interested in what I am interested in a part from my own Husband and his friend.

My other friends are accepting of my dealings with Astrology and so forth even if they think it is bunk. I have some who bash it regularly, to me it's water off a ducks back.
I realise I want to be friends with them even if they have not yet found Spirituality so I relate to them on the level they are most comfortable with. If they call me up I don't say "I just finished a tarot reading, a birth chart and cleansing my crystals".... What do I expect them to say? I only talk about it if they ask about it. They are my other interest friends, my lunch friends, my social friends..... ect...Some of the Kindest people I know are not Astrologers or even Spiritual outwardly. I actually made a spiritual esoteric friend, it's not what I expected, she was off the wall and I couldn't be friends with her any more, (my husband and I call them 'flunkies'...) but really, I'm not seeking it any more. Its much more rewarding to relate to people in an earnest way, a genuine human-to-human level rather than trying to find someone who believes the same stuff as you, it just proves that is not the goal here.

The problem for me is that relating genuinely means sharing ALL of me, astro and science and whatever goes with me.
These are not just "things" I try to make anyone believe; they are my hobbies, pastime, interests, so they are part of who I am.
Like in the example I gave, that man liked fishing and I couldn't relate, right, but I went along for the ride because I liked the person and accepted him with ALL his interests and hobbies and loves and hates with no explanation or debate or criticism, THAT's what I want too.

The funny part is that I can explain HOW it works. Yes, I can apply the very methods I apply in my science and make sense of it. I just don't care to convince anybody about it though. I don't want -esp on a personal level- to have to defend it.
Say, I like to eat green limes or whatever, WHY do I have to explain myself to any idiot? I LIKE IT. That's all! Can you just go along with it as a friend? I promise it won't kill you.

It reminds me the very same reason why I do not care to convince anybody about my religious beliefs (or lackthereof). It's utterly pointless because you are not ME, and you can not possibly FEEL certain things the way I do. It's personal. I won't debate it. I don't care about the subject matter academically. So much fanaticism from all extremes. I have found my own truth and that's enough for me. Why does it have to get outside permission? No, I don't care for any of your little boxes/labels. It's for those who can't think for themselves*. Spare me.

*No offense, anybody. I'm talking about those who try to "box" me in. I know good people too; you just won't hear it in this rant.

That's what I normally do. If somebody asks me though I am not going to lie or hide my interests. And then I have to face the abyss of crap as people feel entitled to bash it without knowing anything about it.

Perhaps I should simply go fish. No one would care to criticize THAT hobby!

Regardes, believe me, as a Libra you are very agreeable even when you disagree. You have nothing to worry about. I wouldn't take an issue by someone who accepts my interest even though they don't personally share it (like in the fishing example I gave). All I want is for my friends and ppl in my life to be open-minded, curious about the things that fascinate me, willing to explore something new, and be good sports when they have no clue. I guess I ought to make better choices of the ppl around me; that's all.
