..when you want to forget about the stresses of everyday life?

Mine is happy, upbeat music that makes you want to sing along and dance.
Other times it's painting scenes from dreams.

Well, all of the above except painting. I love pretty things so looking at pretty things online or people watching, listening to pretty music, singing, dancing... I also love doing things with my hands - knitting, jewelry making, cooking...

No, that's an expensive hobby to have. And messy!

Glass blowing seems fun.

I can and have made soap before. I can make my own cosmetics, cut my own hair and do my own nails. Can't really saw though but I can mend things.

In short, I like crafts.

Messiness is part of letting go and having fun, especially for us cleaniness freaks.

Someday I want a bath I can do on my own
(being disabled sucks)
because I love bubble baths by candle light,
in silence.
Otherwise I trance out a lot, and let my hands write and then when I come out of trance it is so cool reading what was written.
But basically I am mot peaceful away from people/artificial noises.
Unless in the mood, music rattles my nerves.
No artificial sounds.
No music, no talking, just breezes, animals. insects, especially tree frogs and Cicadas,
and so forth.
Hard to find such places these days.
Seems there is always some jackass playing their excuse for music loud.
Such jerks do not realize the booming of their shite travels miles and ruins things for we who sit deep in a woods enjoying nature, when their thump thump invades our space and can be felt through the earth.
Yeah,
very hard for me to escape this too loud too loud world and its noisy people.
I rarely turn on a movie or music, those around me do.
I can easily go years without music, and put on a movie maybe twice a year at most.

It depends what I'm in the mood for. Sometimes it can be music, or if I just want to veg then one of my favorite movies for vegging to, or something athletic that requires concentration (and thus tunes out the rest of the world for awhile). Of course reading--and writing--provides a great escape, too.

Wow, Lexx. I can't go without music, t.v. yes, music no. It also depends on what music which depends on my mood.

Sometimes the thump thumg boom boom music you mention does become too much to bear..leading to headaches or feeling rattled. Other times I enjoy it.

When out in nature I refrain from music and try to take in the sounds around me. It's great for meditation.

I used to love music.
However after living in a place for 4 years where the 16 people upstairs and the 4 in the next two apartments played music 24/7 at high wall rattling booming levels;
And being chased at gunpoint by one, knife by another, and our car vandalized some 800 dollars worth,
and the cops not doing a damn thing because it was the bad side of town;
music led to Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.
We used to go out in our car and sleep in empty parking lots just to get sleep.
So music now makes me freak if it is not mine.
I only the past 5 months can put up with my ex2b and his music.
But even his will drive me near mad at times.
I ask him to wear headphones when the panic sets in.
When the neighbors do it or a car drives by boom boxing, or at a store parking lot, or passing us on the streets, or at a stop light,
it is all I can do to keep from freaking out.
