Had a chance to see it today. It was quite the epic; When placed in the category of action movies anyway.

Good witty dialogue, interesting characters and the Hulk making Loki his personal ***** ... What more can you ask for in a Pop Corn flick?

I did but seriously, if you aren't watching it in IMAX format, there is just no point watching this movie in 3D since its not true 3D.

I was kind of disappointed (I guess because everyone was talking it up so much). Not as good as The Watchmen or even X-Men (minus the 3rd one, Michael Bay effed it up).

The plot itself insinuates divineness. Superheroes from various movies join together in one movie-epic to save the world? Aww yeeeeah!

Just coming back from seeing it a second time. To me the XMen and Watchmen can't touch the Avengers... Especially in regards to character development Which is important to me.

I had issues with it. Not as good as I expected. But did anyone hear what Hulk said when he slammed Loki?

i saw it in 3D recently, its not my kind of thing but it was enjoyable.

my favourite scene was with the hulk towards the end, with the villain guy, when the villain guy accused hulk of bullying, and to stop, there was a moment of it seemingly working lol before hulk just showed us how stupid it was for thinking it would work!

With few exceptions I generally don't like comic book movies and had meant to skip this one. My boy kinda dragged me to it today (funny story, but beside the point), and we saw it in 3D. He loved it. I said it was an ok popcorn flick and feel like I kinda lied as I just couldn't get into it as I need more of a story than "demonic invaders come, butt kicking ensues." (Yes, there were subplots, but they were unexciting and predictable IMO.) I can give it points for awesome special effects but in the last half I was yawning, checking my watch, bored out of my mind. Perhaps I could've appreciated it more if I'd seen more of the previous movies so I could've appreciated the characters more, IDK.

Still, it had its moments. A few one liners that I can't recall offhand, and I laughed at the scene where Loki calls Hulk a bully (typical Joss Whedon subversion of a cliche or trope) and also the delightfully insane interrogation scene of the Black Widow by the Russians.

Well it wasn't trying to be X-men. It's a simple, clear-cut comic book movie.. with a very classic plot: the good guys kill the villains & the earth lives happily ever after. It is simple & fun, produced for a wide audience - from kids to adults..
I thought it was hilarious.

I like a mix of movie genres though. The Avengers is definitely not an intelligent movie. It is a fun movie to watch with your friends or family - just for the entertainment factor & cool effects.

I expected more from Joss Whedon, but his influence in it was uplifting. Thought it was pretty good for an action/comic book flick though. Part of my problem was, I had to use the restroom about half way through but didn't want to get up because I'd miss something.

Will say, it was one of the few movies recently that I've seen where people were cheering and clapping through most of it. I love it when I experience movies like that... people know that the actors on the screen can't hear them clapping but it's something that just comes and you can't help yourself.

That being said, No, I did not hear what the Hulk said after the Loki thing... because the guests in the theatre were WAY too loud.

LOVED the scene at the end of the credits. I could totally see that happening.

WHAT. The lack of good character development is exactly why I thought the Avengers wasn't that great. I don't think they did a good job in that respect at all especially in comparison to The Watchmen and XMen.

That was my reaction, too, but I figured she must've seen the movies that come before and included them into the story to find the character development.

The only one I've seen from before this one is Iron Man, and I only saw it once back when it played at the cinema.

Oh.. did you not see Ironman, Ironman 2, Thor, Captain America and Hulk before seeing the Avengers? We've been to all of those when they came out and really enjoyed them so I really appreciated the characters all the more in the Avengers when they came together.

That said - I am generally NOT into comic / superhero movies. I thought XMen were okay and the last one that came out when they were 'young' was pretty good. I thought Watchmen was a pretty movie but I didn't really like any of the characters at all.

Blah. I've not really enjoyed any of the previous 1000 Spidermans.

Spidermen?
