Maybe a forum dedicated to just placement guessing through appearences? That would cut down on threads that ppl might not consider serious enough....

All I can say about Astro 2.0 in its current state is WOW.

Do we really need 15 (so far!) threads of "Guess his sun?" It boggles my mind.

Well, I try to appreciate the enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is in my opinion smth to be admired, after years of astrology. Yeah, she might have gone overboard but I figured some of the threads would get lost down the page and other topics will appear. There are a lot of topics I don't post in, even though I read through them, some I don't find interesting, some trigger smth too personal, some I stay away from because sometimes it is hard to bite your tongue with an Aries Mars in the 3rd lol. Also have noticed that lately (as in last 2-3 months) I've been more active in the less serious threads, the ones that are just fun with no other purpose, which is sort of unusual for me. Idk, I myself am a work in progress, I have no idea how the ending will look like. So meanwhile I try to give the rest of the people a little break here and there (unless they're rude.. or arrogant.. arrogance really is my weak spot *sigh*)

CERIDWEN I totally agree with you. When I first browsed lindaland [ especially the old topics] they were so many good threads about in depth astrology. Now when i go to Astro 2.0 there are so many superficial topics. Threads like guess the sun sign & post your pictures to show off , don't really help me learn about astrology. I might be young, but I like discussing serious topics not fluff stuff. Astrology is my passion & I like learning & researching. I don't take things in life lightly lol.

Sorry for the rant, I know I can just skip those topics [ & usually I do ] but it just frustrates me a little. I know there are plenty of other really good astro forums like astrologyweekly & astrodienst but the reason why I come on lindaland is because this forum is ALIVE, the other forums are pretty dead...I usually don't post a lot in here, I just keep quiet but this time I couldn't help it lol. I wanted to post a thread like this on astro 2.0 but I know that if I did, plenty of people would've attacked me =\

I don't mind having the fun ones and the serious ones and everything in between combined, but this was getting a tad bit excessive.

Yes, it is fun to have it in that Forum. We can kick it around without it taking up all of Astro 2

I didnt see this thread. Thanks for putting this out there for me to read. I was a little too blunt, and if I offended anyone, I apologize. I just get very frustrated with the picture threads. I like this place but the superficiality is so constant. Again- I apologize if I was being too blunt..didnt mean to focus one any one person, because that wasnt my intention. I do think there should be a forum for the superficial topics, but thats just my 2 cents. I wont post as much as I'd like for it but thats how it goes.

Come to some of the Forums and help out Newbies. They will, often, have serious issues. You can discuss these with them. Come to the Beginners Forum or jump in at PR. You will find very meaty issues there!
These encounters are not superficial, at all.

Gee thanks Oliviaaa!!!

PS: I'd actually made this post on Aug 7, and returned today to find it gone, so am re-posting

Another suggestion would be to do a search for topics and then bump some that are of interest.

I think it's great some of the guess the sign threads got moved to the basic astro forum.

As for the rest, I see the point about people not posting in the right forum, which is an ongoing thing, I guess, more so in the astro 2.0 forum than in any other.

So I have yet another suggestion--

In the astro 2.0 forum we can have an "Everyone please read" thread, where we can post (in a nice way) that all "lighter" astrology threads are to be posted in a separate forum (give name of forum). This thread can be bumped regularly for a period of time until people get the general idea. The thread can continue to be bumped less regularly later.

The idea would be to direct traffic so to speak.

I'm willing to make this thread and even take on the responsibility of bumping it initially and more intermittently later (well I'll encourage members also to help me out by bumping it).

I think the initial effort to tackle this issue would pay off in the long run, as I think this situation most likely will increase in the future instead of decreasing.

Anyway, just a suggestion ... something to think about. Like I said, I'm willing (in the next couple of weeks--as my work load is too heavy for the up coming week), to take on the responsibility of making a nice thread to direct traffic.

Personally, I think it would be a daunting task due to all of the new people who sign up here daily. There would be a lot of closed strings. And people would be confused about where to draw the line and what goes where. Plus, I don't want the main Astro Forum to turn into a dry, technical, bland Forum like many of the other Astrology Forums online are. I can see that happening if only the most serious topics are allowed. But those guess strings were a bit too much, and that warranted a move.

I'm still moving personal readings from there, and it's been years since that Forum opened.

Yes I see that happening on a regular basis. And I feel that tho some newbies do it unawares, there are others who do it because they think they can get a better response in astro 2.0 vs the PR forum.

I like that they're now in Basic Astro and it's a good idea to bump the New rules for this forum thread intermittently in 2.0, so now if I see a thread like that I will.
