What would it be?

I would outlaw those cheap price tags that leave too much residual adhesive on the product. You might spend fifteen minutes trying to clean your product and STILL the adhesive is smearing the surface.

Help, government!

Spray a little wd-40, let it sit a minute and it wipes right off

All aggressive ads for drugs, including prescription meds as well as tobacco & alcohol. (Of course most of this is already banned but ideally I'd want pot fully legalized and all other recreational drugs decriminalized Portugal style, but the only way I see that as working is to prohibit aggressive ads promoting their use just as Portugal does.)

And just to be clear I mean spamming and paid advertising by "aggressive." What I'd call passive ads, just putting up a website for your products, for example, is a different matter, as long as one has to actively look them up rather than getting hit with it. Posting ads for alcohol at a liquor store or pot at a head shop would also be acceptable in my book.

I'd also be willing to consider Canada-style controls on the media that severely restricts political ads and also doesn't allow willfully deceitful news without some "for entertainment purposes only" (so that this couldn't happen, for example, not that I'm making a claim that only FOX News does it).

PixieJane, I was just reading, "I Thought It Was Just Me" - a book about shame and women. The author, Brene Brown, talked about the ads that came on just after 9/11 happened: they were specifically targeting mothers, when it came to anti-anxiety and anti-depressant pills. She was alternately angry at the companies, and then feeling a lot of fear and wondering if she should take something. She called a psychiatrist friend of hers, who assured her that she was as healthy and normal as the hundred other mothers who had called her.

People who don't use turn indicators while driving!

Ever had this happen? Guy/gal in front slows down for no apparent reason. By the time he/she's at crawl speed, you start thinking, "grr .. I've got to get out of this lane." And just as you find a spot in traffic to do it, guy/gal in front makes the turn. So to make up for lost time and the huge gap on the road in front of you, you speed up, your tires squeal, and you have others looking at you as if you don't know how to drive. Aaaaaargh ...

Sad but hopefully not true. It's up to the women to raise the bar.

I wish they would. I harp on this issue a lot on here and have been accused of being a misognyist because of it, which couldn't be further from the truth. I want women to have some level of self respect, how does that make me a woman hater? lol

You said what I wanted to say.

For me: Christmas music, adverts or decorations (on tv, in stores, etc) before Halloween. Hell, it's jarring when it starts up as soon as midnight hits on halloween, let alone before that.

K, I know what you mean. But here's the thing. Ideally men would do their part in the respect department, so that the whole burden of it wouldn't be on the women. But in reality, it is the woman who has to be vigilant 'bout this, 'cause many guys will disrespect her (or worse) if they can get away with it.

The answer to this lies in a cultural shift in thinking in the way boys are brought up. They need to be taught from a very young age that respecting girls and women equals being manly.

Instead, in the US particularly, anything that is remotely feminine is considered weak and therefore undesirable, therefore to be suppressed--either feminine qualities within men themselves or outside of themselves, i.e., women. This thinking where masculinity equals strength and superiority, is the root of disrespect toward women, imo. Example, if a man respects his gf or wife, he's seen as whipped.

A man is brought up to feel that he is superior to woman, simply because he's born a man. Unless this changes (and the deeper psychological basis of this thinking lies in an inherent fear of woman, which I won't go into here), sadly the burden of respect will continue to fall on the woman.

I don't think you're a misogynist. I think you complain about relationships a lot , but that doesn't make you a misogynist. If you continue trying to find newer ways to explain where you're coming from, people will begin to understand. In real life, women need more men (like you) to stand up for them when they're being disrespected by other men.

I think you should continue to speak your mind on this topic and mebbe think of moving to the north east for example, where perhaps you'll find women that are not trapped in a psychological mindset that makes them chase bad boys.

I think lots of guys want to respect women but at the same time they wanna get laid, being a gentleman does not get you laid. what it does get you is every woman telling you"oh you are such a great guy, you are gonna make a lucky girl very happy." she says all that and then rides off into the sunset with an
unemployed junkie, its enough to frustrate the crap
out of a guy.. as it is it is I have experimented acting like a total jackass around women, and you know what? they went for it! the very girls who fell for my ******* act were girls who claimed to want a relationship that their daddy would approve of.. however I refuse to gice into the urge to be a jackass, i'd rather be alone then be that way..

Good for you to not give in to that urge

Like I said, I would srsly consider moving to the north/east.

Either way, continue to maintain your high standards. I'm sure you'll meet your love.
