Birkin bags can buy houses.

lol...actually not lol, as this is true. you'll probably throw up if you see all the 16 year old's near me who insist that only this bag is good enough for them...it is getting sick. i think people who work for there money and then can afford cars, houses...um Birkin bags, are cool, they worked for it, and worked hard. But these days...bleh...you are in the minority(that is a hard worker, earning money from his normal job), most people who work hard, can't afford half these things, and i'm suspicious of those who suddenly out of the blue start being able to....

The issue is that the truly wealthy find no reason for such frivolity as the Birkin. They have nothing to prove. And in most cases, people who take extra pleasure to display their Birkins invariably barely manage to afford them. Then there is the other issue of whether a Birkin makes economic sense as an asset purchase relative to its function and its depreciation. Seriously. A $150,000 handbag? IP: Logged |

Okay, a real gripe. People who are hell bent on arguing semantics with topics that I'm essentially in agreement with them on, but they just have to argue about the meaning of a word. Something ridiculous like "energy" or "organic" or "chemical". Seriously. IP: Logged |

It's called the zipper method and is how merging was designed. They're actually reducing the queue. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_merge quote: In traffic engineering, the late merge or zipper method is a convention for merging traffic into a reduced number of lanes. Drivers in merging lanes are expected to use both lanes to advance to the lane reduction point and merge at that location, alternating turns. The late merge method contrasts with the early merge method. A related scheme is the dynamic late merge. The late merge method has not been found to increase throughput (throughput is the number of vehicles that pass through a point in a given period of time). However, it considerably reduces queue ("backup") length (because drivers use the ending lane until its end) and reduces speed differences between the two lanes, increasing safety.

That is true, however The inserter's overlook any space left. Many times I will create a space, no, not good enough for the inserter's. They go to the top of the line, and then, insert themselves. This is called aggressive driving. IP: Logged |

No, it's called the zipper merge. Creating space early backs traffic up for longer. Aggressive driving is not necessarily a bad thing but merging at the top of the lane that's closing is correct. A lot of people think that the zipper merge is when people are just being pushy, this is not true. If you watch a video on zipper merge, the top comment is about how people think zipper merging is rude and most other videos on it will also tell you that it's not the rude thing to do, it's the best thing to do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCLF2tyW0TU If someone accelerates up the lane fast, it's because no one is using that lane and as long as they aren't speeding, it really doesn't matter. They are probably wondering why others are not using the lane. We act as if there is nothing more to learn about driving after we've been doing so for a long time but there is always more to learn about every topic. IP: Logged |

If people refuse to make a space what choice is there? And most people do! I never knew there was a name for this though! IP: Logged |

Exactly cat.Once you race up to the top of the line, space has to be made. -------------- MsPrism: I get your point. And yes I have read the stats. But: Call me old school, but if you ignore spaces left, in order to race to the top of the line-- others behind you are braking~ braking on the interstate/beltway is one of the worst things you can do. I could post stats about how one car braking in heavy traffic on the interstate/beltway and the effects that are felt for [sometimes] miles but this is not GU. I will say that braking outweighs insertion, because insertion relies on a steady even flow. Seamless. If, this does not happen, and in my area it rarely does, braking by every following car in the queue occurs. Braking is a no no. These drivers just have to be first, that's all. IP: Logged |

Being 90% bed bound for going on two years to date. Constant pain. I'm disintegrating. Oh well. It totally sucks; but; that is just the way it is. However add to that how some people ***** about their fairly perfect lives in my point of view. And how many tell me I should just kill myself. Oddly many whom I thought were my friends. One more gripe; which will sound rude but here goes: People even though well meaning trying to cheer me up and saying "get well soon", or "things will get better", and other such socially correct niceties. Well kind meaning folks; that is depressing to say the least. Most of my conditions are degenerative. Only some could be fixed but I cannot afford them; like for example; my jaw is being absorbed by my body. Without very expensive bone grafts and surgeries; eventually if my other serious ills do not kill me first; my teeth will all fall out as my jaw vanishes and my jaw after breaking will eventually disappear. So yeah; stop telling me to get well soon and such. It just is not going to happen. Wish me wealth to come to me so that I can afford to at least pull us out of poverty and fix some things and alleviate some of my suffering by having the proper things for a household with two handicapped people. And please; no prayers. I am not a believer. Sorry for being so down but that is how it is. Enjoy your youth, good health, and lives; and stop b!tching about things that don't matter. Rant over.IP: Logged |
