But: Call me old school, but if you ignore spaces left, in order to race to the top of the line-- others behind you are braking~ braking on the interstate/beltway is one of the worst things you can do. I could post stats about how one car braking in heavy traffic on the interstate/beltway and the effects that are felt for [sometimes] miles but this is not GU. I will say that braking outweighs insertion, because insertion relies on a steady even flow. Seamless. If, this does not happen, and in my area it rarely does, braking by every following car in the queue occurs. Braking is a no no. These drivers just have to be first, that's all. [/B]
Hi Missy Node I agree with you. Where there *IS* a "zipper merge" then that's all well and good, but where there are 3 thru freeway lanes and one right lane that is an exit lane/offramp, and drivers race past the queued cars in the exit lane, STOP in their thru lane, turn on their turn signal (hey, they found the lever on their steering column!!) and demand to be let in (after all, they DID use their turn signal!!) then that is NPD rudeness, equivalent to cutting in line at the bank, grocery store, etc. They count on the people already in the queue not wanting to get their cars scratched up by The Cutter and just letting them in to reduce the inconvenience to hundreds of other drivers in the area (I doubt The Cutters realize they are inconveniencing anyone, because they don't think about anyone or anything but themselves). But what they've done is slow down the off-ramp exit queue AND slow down the lane they're moving out of, trying to push their way into the exit queue that is crawling at 5mph. One driver disrupting 2 lanes of traffic. In ye aulde (old school) days, we used to be able to recognize them: Caddy drivers were the center of the Universe and didn't we know they owned the road?? Now, it can be any make/model of car..... Happy Thanksgiving everybody IP: Logged |

Thank you so much Zala I wish for things in your life to improve too.{{{hugs}}} And yes, I am glad we met! Sorry for not being very social for the past year and more. Not very social to anyone expect for usually when you see me here and at fb; otherwise that is pretty much it. Happy Holiday season to you!

Thank you for caring Charmaine. Yes, some do care. And it is appreciated but often depressing. I know this sounds strange perhaps; but I feel like I am somehow letting the happy happy joy joy people down and disappointing them. I could easier deal with things if it were merely the same battles everyday; but seems every few weeks this past year or so; it is new battles adding on to my already overwhelming ones. Sigh.......
