I hope not that many people actually have their phones on at the cinema. But good ad. I've seen enough crappy drivers who WERE watching the road so anything that takes their eyes off is even worse...I think the facts of their speed and potential consequences is somehow overlooked by the brain due to the illusion of sitting still. But maybe that will help. My BFF answered a text on the freeway (and as we'd just left I wonder if he was waiting for her to be on the freeway first), and it was an incredibly idiotic, unimportant question that could easily wait. But it wasn't about interest, it was about control. He'd put an ap on her phone so he could track her and had a fit if she didn't answer which is why this was the first time she ever started texting while driving (as she knows how I feel about that). I was furious, in my mind it wasn't that different than if he'd spun the cylinder of a revolver, aimed it at her, and then squeezed the trigger. Chances are she'd be okay, but it's so...WRONG...that I can't believe she let him get away with that. I REALLY wanted to tear into him but she wouldn't let me. In retrospect I should've anyway, after all he gambled with MY life and the lives of others on the freeway as well, all for an idiotic question that he didn't even care about anyway, he only wanted the pleasure of remotely controlling her. ******* . I never had a wreck.Once when the brakes went out in that same Courier, on one of those hills in Aptos, I didn't even look back. Landed in the ditch between two Redwoods. Got out and walked to the Celtic Druid Lecture. Think it was Phillip Carr-Gomm. IP: Logged |

Those Couriers were heck on brakes.Think they had fifty bazillion slave cylinders or something. Sweet Little Truck, though. Oh, man, did that say Volkswagon? I wish I could watch it, I had a '69 couple of years ago. I called her "The LadyBug."

She was Teal & White, had all these really cool pictures on the windows.I made a Lap Quilt especially for her back seat, with all these Mariner's Compass' and a Line from the Charge of the Goddess embroidered in Theban around the edge. Then I had a Herkimer Diamond behind the Moon and Stars Clockback I embedded in the dash. (One of the original switches.) I had a Blasting Stereo, the Speakers would get some really good acoustics from the front, when I would open it. I had a Wolfsburg Crest on the hood. Man, I loved my little LadyBug. I even have an original VW Key, and they're hard to find. ------------------ Love, Ellyn IP: Logged |

There is no blood and guts or gore; but very shocking nevertheless. I watched it several times. Amazing how a very simple thing could be so wow mesmerizing! I thought it was a very tasteful and classy way to present the warning message.IP: Logged |

Sounds cute. However; If you do not watch the video; then you have as later posts indicate; the entire point of this thread. Nice stories about your "bug"; but that has nadda to do with this thread's topic.

PixieJane I agree. Oh and yes; lots of folks have their cell phones in cinemas. One of a few reasons why I no longer go to them.IP: Logged |

Ugh... dial up sure sucks. Well your VW memories are cute. I will start a thread at Hearth And Home about memories of VW bugs; vans; and so forth. I have several of my own stories to share on Volkswagen vehicles. And lastly; oh my no no no; the video here is NOT a video for enjoyment at all. "Shudder" I hope no one here actually enjoys/gets a happy kick from it. Edit to add: Please share your Volkswagen beetle/bug and or mini bus Memories http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum32/HTML/000422.html IP: Logged |

Re-posting my comment after Ellynlvx's comment above. Sorry I goofed originally and put my comment on Ellynlvx's post. Here is what my post was supposed to be; on its own and not on Ellynlvx's post. Correction below: _______________________________________ This is not the correct thread/forum for your VW posts. Please use this thread for your VW stories: Please share your Volkswagen beetle/bug and or mini bus Memories http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum32/HTML/000422.html Closing this thread because it is not staying on topic.
