I so wish i was a part of this family. In some weird (dysfunctional) ways they remind me of my own. The sarcastic comments and side-eye glances, i guess.

Leah Remini: It's All Relative
http://www.tlc.com/tv-shows/leah-remini-its-all-relative/videos/hystericall y-crying-at-a-fake-wake/

Does anyone else tune in?

If not, what are your "feel-good", lighthearted shows? I can't always watch shows about surviving in the woods and drug interventions etc - sometimes you need to lighten things up a bit, you know?

I find Leah and her family hilarious and am also curious if any other north-easterners (US) can relate to this dynamic.

Gilmore Girls, although I take breaks, since I've watched it so much now.

Golden Girls.

I like what I've seen of Chuck.

Golden Girls yes. comfy nostalgia.

For some reason I never got around to watching Gilmore Girls. I think it was popular at one of the times I was "anti TV'. Will keep it in mind, along with Chuck.

btw interesting fact: Leah was raised (by her mother) in Scientology and broke out of it a few years ago (i think.) I don't know all the details, but have to give her props for it. I remember reading how she did it for her daughter. Glad she was able to see the light and escape.

Which reminds me....a documentary came out not too long ago about Scientology that i've been wanting to check out. If anyone remembers the title of it, please post it here.

I saw Going Clear. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

@Vajra ^ That scene's funny I don't know the show, but I love Bollywood movies.

For fun, I watch American Idol, X-Factor, that kinda thing, on YouTube. Short clips, low time commitment.

In case others don't know, they implemented this Golden Buzzer last year (?) and anytime a judge pushes it, it's like all the world's problems have been solved...people are so happy, crying, hugging...it's plain weird how easily that makes me tear up, since I know it's designed to do that, and getting emotional is like being one of Pavlov's dogs, responding exactly as they want me to.

I've watched this so many times:

Dancing On My Own

I'll watch Going Clear eventually.

Leah Remini: It's All Relative

I could only watch a bit because my computer is slow and freezes too much...but I like the openness and bluntness I saw...I feel like, if you've got honesty, you've got hope.

My family is from the NE and dysfunctional.

Last time we all had Thanksgiving dinner together my sister removed my (skinny) brother's plate while he was still eating, like the fork was mid-air and loaded with mashed potatoes...and she chastised him for eating too much, before whisking his plate off to the kitchen...we were all howling about that, and my oldest brother yelled some wise crack which made us laugh harder...even though she was dead serious and just got mad at everyone.

That was my last ever Thanksgiving with my siblings. 'Would not have been as good without the dysfunction.

teasel, thanks.

juni, No, doesn't surprise me. I can't watch too many shows of animals being hurt or sick. Even if it ends well, it messes with my anxiety. I could never be a vet or nurse.

Vajra, one of my old roommates was obsessed with that show. Every week a few of our friends gathered at our place, ordered pizza (or some other take-out) and brought beer and chilled out to watch the latest episode. I usually was scheduled to work that night, so i missed out on all the fun. I hadn't seen it before and wondered why they were all so obsessed. One night i was sick with a cold and called out of work and was able to hang out and watch - then i realized why. Funny stuff.

LOL, Faith what a great memory. As time goes on, i think it's easier to appreciate the dysfunction. If anything it usually gives someone a good sense of humor.....at best.

And argue in my mind with them.

One that is usually interesting is CoasttoCoastAM but it's on so late on the east coast that i don't catch it much anymore.

I watch all the shows i want to on the internet now. Commercial free.

Vajra, I really enjoyed those . Thank you.

I bet you would like The Office, too. You might already be a fan of the show... I tried to look up some funny clips, but it's one of those ones I think you have to watch in succession and really be a fan of. I think the earlier seasons are the best.

Just remembered these two:

Total feel-good shows.

The Pioneer Woman http://www.foodnetwork.com/shows/the-pioneer-woman.html

her site: http://thepioneerwoman.com

Rea is so sweet and a great mom.

Trisha's Southern Kitchen (Trisha Yearwood) http://www.foodnetwork.com/shows/trishas-southern-kitchen.html

I love how Trisha sings at the end of many of the episodes. Her voice is amazing. She's married to Garth Brooks.

I'm not familiar with a lot of country music, but it's growing on me after watching her show. Can't help but lover her. Turns out she's really funny too.
