Well I emailed Randall directly informing him of the serious threats. I don't know who locked the Misandry thread but Venusincap was not reprimanded nor banned and is now resuming the curses, hexes, whatever you call this: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/237330-2.html I guess Randall isn't around today? Yeah.. I didn't mean it as anything against her either. Although now I see it looks like that. I just got frustrated that all such threads get closed without proper resolution. Whether in Astro 2.0, or asteroids or any other forum. P.S. Yeah, he didn't get so much as a slap on the wrist. IP: Logged |

I gave up on the False Sense of Security thread because, like at least one before it that was locked, the same people were crapping their personal issues all through it that is sure to get it locked, and without even answering the actual questions. I am not sure if it's done out of malice or just inability to control one's self. Furthermore, more mod action than simply locking a thread needs to be done as well, because otherwise many threads are going to get locked as these troublemakers move thread to thread to continue their flame wars.What I do know is that if a forum on LL actually needs more moderators, it is Astrology 2.0. And NOT Ami Anne who seems to delight in fanning the flames rather than putting them out. (Not me either--I'm not a mod of that particular forum for those who think I am--as I'm not there enough, but if I were a mod then some serious actions would be taken, and given how much I'm loathe to flex mod muscles, that's saying something.) If Randall wants to add some moderators (though I don't think he does despite all the threads he starts asking for volunteers) then it needs to be in Astrology 2.0. It should be someone who can keep a level head, who shows up there regularly, and has an ability to exercise a certain level of detachment without becoming apathetic in the process. Offhand, Electro DGX seems to fit the bill, from what I've seen. I only felt compelled to suggest someone because I think it needs a new moderator NOW. And I mean no disrespect to lalalinda who does a pretty good job when she's actually there. But someone who is there more often needs to be given mod powers as well. IP: Logged |

I didn`t and can`t lock a thread out side of the forums I moderate. I can issue a warning and report the issue to Randall which I did . I do what I can where I can to help other mods not online, thats all  Thanks Faith! ------------------

I will say that I did respond rather aggressively to the situation. I just couldn't sit around and watch death-threats being thrown about without nothing being done about it, knowing that simply closing the thread wouldn't do anything. Mars-Mercury square in action. I do think that another mod for Astrology 2.0 would do a great deal, and by another mod I mean someone who will not just sit around and let it all pass, or someone who will actually encourage it and support the one making death threats like Ami Anne has done. I would be willing to do the job if I weren't so easily triggered and prone to using profanity in order to get my point across. It sucks that it has only gotten worse as time has passed. Sometimes I wonder, "What in the world has gotten into this site?" Simply closing threads doesn't do anything useful for the site, and if there is a problem that is occurring, it needs to be rooted out and dealt with accordingly. ------------------

Once again, I'm sorry - my timing was off. But I'm speaking to the larger issue here. And I swear I didn't mean *you* by the thread title.  Rather the issue itself, like Electro said. 1. Someone (or several someones) instigate by poking some sensitive issues.
2. People try to respond with reason & compassion. Act 2: Containment.
3. Act 3: Escalation. Things get out of hand.
4. Act 4: ??? Thread is closed. Perpetrators free to go back to old ways.

Elysia, no worries I understand your concerns and the issue at hand. But by the same token, we can`t let a thread with death threats continue either. I believe, and speak up if I`m wrong, you`re talking about persons in power egging a nasty situtation on. I have no clue how to alleviate the issue and it`s been so long standing, i`m beyond words about it. ------------------

PJ and Electro, I suspect this issue is a reason most don`t want to Mod. It puts mods in a negative light and the powerlessness to help the situtation can be overwhelming and sad. We need Mods, good mods and I hope we can get some good citizens to step up ------------------

Yeah, futile but inevitable...Such a long day. I really appreciate everyone's help and cooperation through these bizarre twists and turns. Death threats and people playing shrink and all this wild stuff. Til next time...  PS I'd like to say I understand how I end up in the middle of these things, but I honestly do not get it. I feel like the harder I try to de-escalate and bite my tongue, the more dramatically I get roped in. Transiting Mars on my Black Moon Lilith in Aries today, maybe that was part of it. Also my usual 3H Pluto issues. I say something that sounds mild in my head and people read it like I'm thundering down a mountain. IP: Logged |
