fair enough. i find those "demands" over the top too, and don't think they will ever be reality. i'm sure there are some here who think i am in the crowd that would take all the rich peoples' money and give it to the poor. i am only for having a pot into which the rich and poor and in between pay to make sure the beggars don't have to break into their houses to survive, the TB carriers are not in the streets, etc, etc.
but i don't have much sympathy for those who talk about "free lunches" when a lot of those free lunches enable people to pull themselves up and start paying INTO the pot.
yes there are abuses. as always and everywhere, not least among the wealthy and politically powerful.
i understand the "foreign aid as entitlement" concept, but i doubt very much that the world is going to change so much that it stops.
however, to bring back an old cliche, the story of the german tourist who leaves a 100 on the counter while inspecting rooms for possible stay, and while he is doing so the $100 goes from one hand to another all around the town, everyone pays their debts and when he comes back the tourist puts it back in his pocket...
forgiveness of all debt across the board? it will never happen but that is only because everyone is so afraid they will lose their grip on their debtors...were all debts forgiven then everyone would have enough money to keep lining the pockets of everyone else.
i am not naive enough to hold my breath for this one either...but it may be one of those things that is forced upon us(by circumstance not govt) one day not too far away.
