It's definitely worth a watch. It's nice to hear Rumsfeld admit that pursuing weapons of mass destruction didn't amount to anything as far as a reasonable rationale for going to war with Iraq. You basically learn that Cheney orchestrated the war. IP: Logged |

Well Hi, AG!Yes, to the worth watch. I used this topic as my sig for awhile recently.... ------------------ It's a cautionary tale of unchecked zealotry in action. "We need people of principle who have deep conviction," Cutler told me. "But deep conviction can also take down a democracy." RJ Cutler about his new documentary; The World according to Dick Cheney IP: Logged |

I haven`t watched it but I`ve read the reviews and I betcha Cheney wishs he was Garp... War is big business and Cheney played the game. Shame as so many innocent people died and will continue dieing for the love of money. ------------------ We need to listen to our own song, and share it with others, but not force it on them. Our songs are different. They should be in harmony with each other. ~ Mattie Stepanek IP: Logged |

AG- after posting in your #43 paints thread: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum26/HTML/001644.html I re watched a portion of this movie. The movie mentions - the more that Cheney said no [to Bush] about a VP ticket, the more Bush wanted him. We can only hypothesize but it seems to me that Cheney wanted POTUS before, failed, became successful in other endeavors [haliburton etc] and claimed disinterest. I think that through his talks with George he realized- hey, I can take this guy, I can run this show. I may not be able to get elected, but I will be acting president behind the scenes. Maybe he even brokered a deal with George about the extent of his powers before hand. IP: Logged |

about the extent of his powers before handwell, of course that's a little obvious. hum What I'm attempting to say is that the deal for more leverage was there from the beginning... IP: Logged |

Yeah, it was interesting. Your version is possible. What seems likely to me, is that all he needed to negotiate were those meeting rights. Having been a White House insider under Ford, he was ready to educate and indoctrinate Bush however he pleased. As long as Bush trusted his ability to do so, Bush would be a victim to how Cheney thought about things as well as how he framed things. All Cheney needed Bush to do was trust him. IP: Logged |

Yes, the trust had to be there. GW was not a total neophyte. I thought then, and I still think, that he wanted to finish what Dad started overseas. Cheney as an x Secretary of Defense for Dad, so he was already vetted for trust.IP: Logged |
