Even if your plan was garbage, if it hasn't been changed in the designated ways, it can still be grandfathered...and you can still pay the difference in meds, deductibles and copays. Most have been changed...by insurers not wanting to continue those policies.Friend of mine spent twenty mins on the phone the other day and changed her 1500/mo policy (she's a cancer survivor, husband has liver issues) to one w better coverage and a price tag of $285 for both - not each. Of course she lives in Cali, where the homework was done. This is a Kaiser plan (so was her old one) IP: Logged |

No one I know, though I know people who have changed and very happy with the new arrangement. But then I am in California, where the opportunity was met with enthusiasm and the preparations were done willingly.IP: Logged |

http://www.msnbc.com/the-last-word/watch/the-truth-about-the-affordable-care-act-59129923503 Some of the misinterpretations and outright dishonest representations by insurance companies making people feel they are being robbed of a decent plan, being sold plans that cost more than they need to, being told they can't keep their "adequate" plan...yada yada yada IP: Logged |

Ours was restructured last Dec. 2012 to accomodate Obamacare . It increased my costs and lessoned the coverage. With the mandate approaching, I suspect another overhauling is comming soon ------------------ Christian, Jew, Muslim, Shaman, Zoroastrian, stone, ground, mountain, river, each has a secret way of being with the Mystery, unique and not to be judged. Your insurance company's changes may be a little disingenuous. We really need toknow our rights on this...if they hadn't changed it since 2010 you were entitled to keep it as was. You may still have far better options than they are letting on.IP: Logged |

My workplace is in the midst of "open enrollment" Their fees went up. I am still investigating my exchange in relation to that. You have to jump through a lot of hoops to get a discounted rate for individuals per my workplace, I have till the 13th to make up my mind.Everyone I've talked to is keeping what they have/had. I suspect that means that people have a year to get their plan grandfathered...not that after a year grandfathered plans will be axed...do you have a source I could read for thlat statement, Randall? There's a lot to learn, isn't there? It eould have been so much easier if people had done their homework instead if listening to others' opinions about this Act, couldn't it? IP: Logged |

You have to get a new plan after a year. Which isn't really grandfathering at all, is it? Google it! IP: Logged |

I googled it, Randall, and found little. Especially tedious on the miniscreen but thanks for the help.Let's see...3 yrs, 1000 days, that's two pages a day. Super hard work I know ...even tho in layman's language it is not quite so long. "an educated population is essential to the maintenance of a free republic" - jefferson(paraphrase) IP: Logged |
