The political stunt was so obvious in its execution that Pence had the reporters in his press pool wait in their van rather than join him in the stadium to save them the trouble of walking inside for the brief time he was planning on being there. President Trump’s tweet claiming that he asked Pence to leave if any players kneeled proved that the entire incident was a cynically calculated political exercise.from cat's post:
His tweet was disingenuous at face value since it has since been revealed that the Vice-president’s trip to the game was a carefully planned and expensive waste of tax-payer dollars to score political points in Trump’s culture war against NFL players who are freely expressing their political views against police brutality by dropping to their knees during the national anthem.
As if the false enthusiasm of Pence’s tweet today wasn’t enough, the photo accompanying it turns out to be a lie as well. The photo wasn’t actually taken at the stadium today, but was merely a recycled, slightly darker version of a photo from 2014 that Pence had previously used in a tweet.

Don't look now, but a majority of Americans..up to 71%, believe football players..including NFL football players and all other professional athletes should stand and show respect for the National Anthem, the American flag and America.As for those pampered little overpaid wussies who want to protest America, they can take their soapboxes down on the corner...on their own time and protest till their hearts are content. VP Pence, his wife, aides and others in that entourage did the right thing by exiting when the National Anthem, the Flag and America were being shown disrespect. for The President and Vice President. Trump has flown to golfing at his own resorts (where the cost of security goes into his resorts pockets) 71 times in less than 4 times that many days. But this is different and even worse.
