Logic of why those who make more money need to pay higher percentage taxes:

More Government Assets, Infrastructure and Government Services are utilized by those who have more wealth in ensuring their smooth functioning, safety and security. The Cop or Teacher or Sanitation worker or Small Business Owner or Painter or Artisan has no need for 500 Billion dollar American Bases in the middle east which guarantee safety of Big Oil Corporations and safety of Dictators who purchase defense equipment that enable most American billionaires and MNCs to stay on as billionaires.
In 1792, resentment led to all rich getting guillotined in France. Today, an ugly billionaire who can pollute millions of Americans by ensuring through Lobbying the spraying of harmful pesticides or by not taking care of norms in chemical treatment or GMO is safe from mobs thanks to 1000s of dedicated cops, whose salaries are paid by all taxes.

So why should the Rich not pay more since they are using almost all National Resources? They get the "Too Big to Fail" bailouts, do small guys and girls get forgiveness of student loan debts?

Speaking of "Inheritance Taxes", I agree that there should be no tax on pre-taxed wealth BUT there has to be Capital Gain Taxes on Estate Wealth as well because the Mutual Funds who grow that wealth again use colossal Government Resources to ensure safety and increase of that pre-taxed wealth that becomes inheritance.

Its all about Karma. If you have take an advantage over another Human, just pay a fair tax on it for the sake of common good.

Let those making 100K and less a year not pay any taxes, and you will see wealth of the elite again grow exponentially thanks to increased Consumer Spending. Trickle Down never works big but Evaporation always leads to rainfall...

Um, yes? Teachers, nurses, and other professions are eligible for forgiveness of student loan debts. We're also eligible to be reimbursed for the interest that we pay on those student loans.

This is very simplistic and naive. No one is talking abt being entitled to someone else's money...

The democrats are upset bc anyone making less than 75k will be paying more in taxes, which is the majority of the middle class

Since 2010, when Citizens United was passed, untold amt of dark money has been flowing into politics. In the 2016 election year alone 1.6 bill was spent. Why do you think the rich spend so much money on politics? So that they can buy politicians. Why? So that the politicians will pass laws that will benefit the rich...it's always quid pro quo. The more money they make, the more they want to keep without paying their fair share in taxes. They do this by getting laws passed that favor them and allow them to avoid paying taxes. They also hide their money in off shore bank accounts. Does this sound fair to you?

Have you ever wondered that if all those making multi 7 figures actually paid their fare share in taxes, they wouldn't be that rich?

Simple math doesn't apply in politics...greed does

Now that I'm making more money, I pay more taxes and get less of a return. It doesn't make sense to give more of a return on their taxes to someone who is making less $ and contributing less (tax wise), because they're already getting more of a return on their taxes every year than someone who is making more $.

I just wish people would look at this proportionately, and with a level head instead of having a knee-jerk emotional response and believing everything they're seeing on the news these days.[/B]

Sincere question...not trying to be snarky...if you got a nice return on your taxes when you were making 15k, why didn't you stick w/ it? Why go on to make more and take on the burden of increased taxes?

If being below poverty level is all that...bc of govt assistance...then why do the rich clamor to make more, and more, and more? Why don't they opt to make less instead? What do you think they get out of making more?

Millions and millions of poor people in Bangladesh and India have come out of poverty only because of handouts and tax cuts to the Lower Half of the Pyramid.

These chaps spend wildly when they have even 10 dollars extra on local products. Rich folk will buy a Rolex or invest in the Stock Market Bubble.

It makes sense to ensure that those families earning below 100K in total pay ZERO Taxes. Let the rich pay 40% above 200,000 K earnings, and 20% Capital Gains Tax. Let them have deductions if they hire local workers, lets say they can deduct Salaries paid to citizens from their tax calculations. Everyone gains.

Now let a political party make that a poll plank and win 80% Vote Share.

ALL money is taxed basically every time it changes hands. The money my clients pay me has been taxed .. Why should it be taxed again because its passed on to me? That is the logical outrun of your reasoning Stubborn virgo..

Why should the very wealthiest get a break on this? It is not the deceased who is taxed but the heirs to whom the estate is paid..just as my client paid me, except i had to work for it🤣😉

Why should my $100ish fee be taxed and not ny neighbours $5 million windfall? If you win the lottery half will go to taxes🤗 but if you win the birth lottery heres your free pass.

Personally i don't think any gifts should be taxed.. however all other gifts are taxed after $14k.. and the giver is taxed too. Tips are gifts (gratuities) and they are taxed as income

You have misunderstood most of what i suggested. Taxes are about PROPORTIONS & PERCENTAGES. The rich pay a far lower percentage to SS and that's fine.. they can afford to invest in their own retirement. However when it comes to deductions, private jet deductions overriding medical expense deductions (especially for those who can't afford the jet) is a classic example of who is being looked after here.

She'll only be penalized if she got a grossly overpriced and substandard education at one of the leftist indoctrination centers.

Yeah, Harvard and the likes are getting an increase in taxes. People don't seem to realize that the senate version of the bill didn't touch the current standard of being able to deduct a percentage of interest payed on student loans. That was only in the house version.

It's hard to argue with emotions on here, though. Everyones' got someone that is upset about it, and that seems to be the main focus - rather than the facts.

The woman has all of the facts. She's had to sell anything she has of value, in order to stay alive so far. Now her health insurance has increased, and she's being punished for getting an education (NOT Harvard) - an education that was required.

And my emotions are just fine, thanks. Maybe republicans should check their emotions, when it comes to defending pedophiles, just because they're pro-life (until said baby is born).

Comments like that are the reason I barely share anything, anymore.

Also: who is against receiving a good education?

Republicans are just as indoctrinated in their own BS. You can't say liberals are over-educated idiots... And how many of the republican senators and members of congress, went to college?

Randall is in law school...

Well, I didn't say anything like that. I have no idea what is going on in other topics. I'm just going off of my observations here, which is that people who are upset with the tax bill are going off of their emotions and anecdotal stories vs. doing their own research and sticking with the facts. I've yet to see anyone post any research to back up their claims, and everyone basically ignored the calculator that I posted which would allow them to see how the new tax plan would actually affect them. But then again, doing that would provide some enlightenment and contradict their claims.

This topic should really be called: Let's Complain About Republicans because that seems to be the focus. It's not really about the tax bill at all - just a place for Democrats to voice their displeasure about everything Republican.

No one is against a good education but no one going to one of the Indoctrination Universities is getting a real education...with the exception of majors in the hard sciences or Law schools.

For all you leftists who think you're well educated Masters of the Universe, take this 8th grade graduation test from a Kansas School District.

This is the eighth grade final exam from 1895 from Salina, KS. It was taken from the original document on file at the Smoky Valley Genealogical Society and Library in Salina, KS and reprinted by the Salina Journal.

No, although I will readily complain about them as much as I like.

I saw something tonight, about Paul Ryan telling his lot to get ready to go after things like Medicare next year, in order to deal with what this tax bill will do.

the VA was also deprived of funding, for housing for homeless vets. I don't know if it's related to this, or just the general shittiness from the "pro-life" republicans, who stand for that flag, but don't take care of their veterans.
