posted November 10, 2018 08:55 PM             LA Times admits President Trump is right about California's forest fires:
http://dailycaller.com/2018/09/02/la-times-trump-california-wildfires/

Its interesting that you credit the LAT with this "admission" reported in dailycaller...^^

Forest management has been an ongoing issue here on the actual spot.. as has a long drought. But its a funny fact that much of California isn't actually managed by California.

As has been pointed out by several people

Trump has failed to note that more than half the forested land in California is under federal control, essentially his jurisdiction

And with his usual thoughtfulness just had to threaten to withhold aid as people are losing their homes, pets and even family members.

"And with his usual thoughtfulness just had to threaten to withhold aid as people are losing their homes, pets and even family members."

BS

Trump didn't threaten to withhold relief funds for citizens. Trump threatened to cut of federal funds to California Forest Service for causing these fires in the first place.

Every rational person in America knows it's necessary to cut and remove underbrush...which is the fuel for fires that keeps them burning and spreading.

Kalifornia is in the grip of environmental loony tune whackos and has been for most of a generation.

Like Georgia, California has many people with differing ideas of how to deal with problems. However apart from the fact that the Feds manage much of Cal forests, one little fact seems to have escaped our Genius in Chief

"He said poor forest management policies caused the fires plaguing the state, even though the massive Woolsey fire didn’t occur in a forest."

Cutting aid to punish people he thinks should do and speak differently is just a punitive insult that helps no one. "Go to your room and think about what a **** up you are and when you're ready to grovel we'll talk"

BS

It's clear English is not your first language.

Trump didn't threaten to cut aid to "People".

The Kalifornia Forest Service is not "People".

It's an agency of the state government of Kalifornia. They deserve to have federal aid cuts because of their loony tunes approach to forestry management. Those who insist on maintaining forests in their 'natural state' are the cause of out of control wild fires and the hundreds of deaths which have accompanied them. They and the environmental loony tunes from which they draw their ranks don't give a rat's a$$ about the deaths they caused and will cause into the future.

As usual, President Trump is right and the loony tunes leftists are wrong. In this case, 'dead' wrong.

How kind you are shura. I hope you never have to vacate your burning home of 50 years as a senior whose meds also were left behind with everything you owned. Or die in your car amongst flames.

God bless.

Not everything is about points. Perhaps Cal would be better off without you.. and DT

Man thats typical.
Cat, you can sit around and fake compassion for the baastards who caused this all day if you'd like. Truth be known, Id prefer that those who brought Cali, once a jewel in the crown, to the state it is now be hunted down and shot.

They don't like facts, Cat. They're trump supporters, remember?

Those pictures of exhausted firefighters, and all of the devastation, are just heartbreaking. I can't imagine living it.

California is the 6th largest economy in the World. They could be better off as an independent country and apply European Norms for improving the Environment. Innovative Solutions have come up to prevent devastation from these anomalous forest fires.

Some GOP Fanatic Scum on Social Media are gleefully gloating at seeing death and destruction in California for booting them out but the State that creates the most elite devices and inventions on Earth will surely find a way out of this mess.

The finances wasted from Federal Taxes on the Bible Belt can surely elevate quality of life of Californians if they became independent, but I am certain the remaining 49 States will never let California go. Too Priceless.

Cali is becoming a feudal state of soulless tech oligarchs, their H1B worker drones, and legions of street defecating paupers. I'm sorry to say this, but maybe better to cut it loose. It's a cultural millstone around the neck.

Cali is a push out state, and has been for two decades.

Newsflash.

California is made up of people. It is governed by people. It is a hugely diverse region with several different climates, demographics, and different fields of work/ industry.

Half the forests are managed by the Feds. The Woolsey fire has nothing to do with forests.

I am an accidental Californian. I live here because my family live here it is not a place i would have chosen. But as someone who has been familiar with it on a personal experience level since the 60s, when Reagan started disassembling the educational system and much else that was intrinsic to that "jewel in the crown", I find all the armchair judgments to be waaay wide of the mark.

I mentioned kindness because not one person here had acknowledged the fact that tens of thousands of people have lost their homes this week. Real people who voted for and against the current set up, Dems and Repubs and everything else. There is a huge Sovereignty movement here too.

What i have noticed about Californians is they a) would have to be forcibly removed to leave and b) whatever the government looks like to you onlookers, WE will work it out.

Fires, earthquakes, and in normal El Nino years, floods, are just part of the fabric. Warring factions live side by side.

Removing federal aid would be a huge blow but California would find a way. That doesn't alter the fact that threatening to withhold is a punitive pose toward the people who are impacted by that aid, whatever the official designation is. At a time when they are already scrambling to regain their footing. Daddy Don can take his Embrace and take a hike. As long as we are part of the country, he works for us, not the other way around.

Ive about had it with the violent judgment coming from knowitall idealogues. Firing squads are very real.. in places like Saudi Arabia, N Korea, etc. Who feels comfortable being the judge and executioner?

Yes. I wasnt born here and I didn't mean to stay permanently. I have family and i had my reasons for not leaving; its not my first choice for residence but it's grown on me.

I have noticed two things about these fires that are rather odd.

They all the started on Nov 8. Possibly coincidence.. possible clue to origin?

Also many of the pictures i've seen, from Paradise and last year from Santa Rosa, show totally flattened houses, burned out cars, and trees still standing in between them, many still green and obviously not burned.

How does that happen?

However accidental i am, i live here and your collective magazine -informed assessments don't bear much resemblance to reality.

Environmental activists are not the chief lobbying group here and they don't even agree with each other half the time.

10% unemployment, yes, once upon a time.. when Brown took over from Reagan (after which it went down) and in 2009-12. Currently at <4.5%.. despite the warnings from the right.

I don't understand what "push out state" means but it's over 10% of the population and a huge portion of its economy too.

I belong to a nostalgic local page on fb and it's abundantly clear that things have changed here over the years.. just as they have in most of the world.

http://www.wsj.com/articles/facing-deadlier-fires-california- tries-something-new-more-logging-1542390642?mod=e2fb

the unlikely coalition (environmentalists and loggers) is pushing new programs to thin out forests and clear underbrush. In 2017, California joined with the U.S. Forest Service and other groups in creating the Tahoe-Central Sierra Initiative, which aims to thin millions of trees from about 2.4 million acres of forest—believed to be the largest such state-federal project in the country.

Another dangerous factor, land-management experts say, is that forests have become overgrown with trees and underbrush due to a mix of human influences, including a past federal policy of putting out fires, rather than letting them burn. Washington has also sharply reduced logging under pressure from environmentalists.

Environmentalists never objected to thinning, but to the clear cutting logging firms insisted on. It seems a compromise has been reached already so why the shrieking?

I love California, and Paradise was close to where we used to live, and dad told me that it's gone now. I've just heard tonight, how many people are missing.

Then we have the fires further south. A friend of mine was talking about how there are just as many regular people down there, as there are celebrities. Another friend of mine lost her home in Santa Rosa, last year. Their area was wiped out. More friends are taking pictures of the smoke, and having to wear masks. One woman posted that her son was home, because of a school "smoke" day, instead of snow.

James Woods even stopped snarking over politics, and helped people he would normally be hating on. Yet in this thread, the trump supporters just talking about letting it go. Not being worth saving. JFC.

700+ Americans perished in a horrific way.
Even the Alt-Right and Tea Party Republican Tweeple who were gloating that California deserved to suffer have stopped gloat tweets once the possibility of this unbelievable death count came out.

This is the maximum number of Americans killed after 9-11. This need not have happened.

In a Civilized Country, entire Military Resources possible should have been sanctioned for use from day one. Incompetent Third World India sends NDRF [equivalent of FEMA] within 24 hours and Soldiers. This helped cut loss of life by tens of thousands in floods from 2015-2018.

US Military is far better trained and equipped, smart use of Hercules type Jumbo Planes could have been used to spray tons of water to minimize the flames. Legends like Red Adair have stopped powerful fires in the 1980s with less technology than today.

Nobody wanted to even think outside the box. Cryogenics could have been used on the perimeters. Liquid Nitrogen Cylinders could have been detonated.

America could have done all that or even better.

And the Federal Government just slept or rage tweeted inanities until it was too late.

I would be very upset if at least the Democrats do not prepare an advanced action plan to prevent this from happening again. No more deaths from Forest Fires.

Not only are people dying in forest fires but the wildlife is as well..

It breaks my heart to see such careless regard for life. Human, flora or fauna.

Politics can wait another day, lend a helping hand to these souls who have lost so much
