She hasn't talked about having been treated there, she's only alluded to rumours and the assumptions of people who like to denigrate my birth country. Last year, the UK celebrated an anniversary for the NHS, and people shared their stories of how our medical system had helped them, or kept them and others alive.

Look around, other nation treat their patient for much less

Well, she's free to talk about it, if that's the case. I'm not stopping her. Until she does, my personal experience is what I'm going with. Along with what I and others have experienced over here, including the ****** way my mother was treated in the hospital, which I'm not in the mood to go into.

They had not been positive experiences and one flown to U.S. for immediate treatment.

Every ones opinions/experiences are valid ... as long as no one assumes what what others experience is.

It WAS equal to the best in the world, before Thatcher. I used it, inasmuch as I use conventional medicine, and the pre and post thatcher periods were measurably distinct.

One could keep or pick their doctor, and had ultimate power of decision about treatment, too. Prescription costs were tiny.Everyone paid tax into the pot and everyone received free (at point of service) care, rich and poor used it... While more expensive, private services were also available for those who preferred them.

However at present it is a shadow of its former magnificent self. There is a battle on to save it from destruction but it's not looking good under the current regime..

There are anecdotes of praise and of outrage available to whomever is looking but it's interesting to see who picks out which and claims absolute knowledge of the state of UK healthcare in a very generalized way.

Our own congress appears to have done its level best to cripple Obamacare in the same way; while it could have been much better if our insurance companies weren't so powerful, and pharma prices so outrageous, no effort was made to tweak and/or improve, only undercut and destroy.

Even the best systems are vulnerable to the skill and intent of those in control of them. Corruption is an everpresent threat.
