Belage, as I said, I wouldn't have had them shot and gassed. I think a reasonable leader would have found another location for his speech, and not done that for a photo opportunity.I can't remember if it was this group or another one, but someone said they didn't hear the request to move back. One group wasn't given a chance to move before they just started shooting - those are huge crowds, they aren't going to disperse immediately, and there was no need for that. I also appreciate reasonable conversation. I'm used to snark here, and I mostly gave up on that. IP: Logged |

It had nothing to do with the speech. It was planned the night before to ensure the safety of the White House, so the fence could be built. The street wasn’t blocked off the night before like planned, so it was expedited, but the timing of President Trump to visit the church was ancillary. IP: Logged |

Ok. You still have not told me what you think the police should have done when the crowd refused to move. I do agree with you that it is possible many people did not hear the police request to move, as these are big crowds, and if so, they couldn't really obey an order they didn't hear. That makes sense. I think that both sides are learning from these incidents. The protests this past weekend have been for the most part less violent. I think protesters are making more of an effort to restrain the instigating elements among them, and the police is also being more cautious in its response. IP: Logged |

They wouldn't have moved. That's just now how protestors work. Group think at its finest. They had a First Amendment right to protest--just as those who wanted to attend church had a First Amendment right--so I am in no way criticizing the peaceful protests...just that the mentality would not have given them pause to move.
