YEP, and its understandable given the MO and history of the US and its "allies". When we say "NATO", we really should say the US because even though it is an alliance, we all know who calls the shots. IP: Logged |

Shura, I mostly agree. If Putin has any love in his heart, I believe he does actually love his country and his trying to protect it from being taken over by not just the US, but more so the international banking groups (who very strongly influence the US). I do not agree with him going into Ukraine, but I do understand it. He knows the above forces, via their right hand strong man--the US, are getting ready for something bigger eventually, and Ukraine is an important, strategic location to that potential future conflict. It is also important to the new gas pipeline running from Russia to Germany. The US and the forces behind same, really don't want that pipeline to be fully functioning. For various reasons politically and financially. It will lead to stronger and more positive relations between Russia and the EU, along with a lot of wealth accumulation in Russia's pocket. Many people literally have no clue about any of this deeper stuff and only judge it from the surface of the surface. War=bad has some truth to it, but when you're a nation up against the most aggressive, wealthiest, and most war prone nation in recorded history (along with its bullied allies), sometimes you have to take strong actions to defend yourself. All most are seeing right now, is this one guy punching another guy, but if we rewinded it for years, we would see that another guy has been sucker punching the first guy repeatedly for years, while telling the 2nd guy (hey, we'll support you as long as you snub the first guy). Eventually the first guy is going to fight back. I was bullied throughout grade school. I learned the lesson that sometimes walking away is not the best course of action, but to defend oneself and/or others. IP: Logged |

Biden gave him the green light by the way he handled Afghanistan, not putting sanctions on him beforehand, and implying a minor incursion would be okay. IP: Logged |

It’s strange that we still have a “freedom convoy” making its way to D.C, when actual tyrants (Putin) are killing people in Ukraine. Tucker Carlson hasn’t been imprisoned for treason. Neither has rumpy. Neither have you, those who are stating that this is on Biden, not Putin. You are all free to speculate, to protest, to spread propaganda, like Carlson. Who is one of the elites you love to demonize, but he’s on your side, so, nah. People speaking out against Putin, could at the very least be imprisoned for twenty years. Just for speaking out against him. We all know that he’s done a lot worse. Those people who bravely protested, and still are - their arrests aren’t Biden’s fault. That’s all in Putin, just lihh oh e this war. IP: Logged |

I’ve seen talk of a Russian military convoy being anywhere from 17 miles to 40 miles long, making their way to Kyiv. IP: Logged |

There is a pretty big difference between 17 and 40 miles long (the latter is more than twice as long as the former). You would think with satellites they would able to get that narrowed down a little more accurately (rolls eyes), but the idea here is fear, fear, fear to push people into hyper emotional states so that they throw out all rational objectivity and calm, reasoned, critical thinking. It would be nice if people thought more critically about these things rather than just believing everything they are told, but I suppose that is asking far too much of humans. IP: Logged |

She gets her “facts” from tweets, so she wouldn’t know that it is actually 41 miles long. It has come to a halt. They are sitting ducks, but the nuclear threat is causing pause for the Ukranians. Russian soldiers are running out of food.IP: Logged |

I hope the truly conservative contingent is taking notes. Condoleezza gloating on Fox, Rubio rolling his eyes at negotiations, Frum beating the war drum, Kinzinger demanding a no fly zone, and on and on. Repubs begging to send 18 yo's to war to protect Ukrainian tran right. Putin's a nazi, Putin's a madman, Putin's criminally insane, Putin's a mad genius with an itchy finger on the button. The Neocons are shedding their conservative clothing to show us their true nature. No shock, really. If there is anything at all new here, it's the Lefties joining them. Mind your bedfellows.Tyranny is tyranny no matter on which side of the spectrum you sit. IP: Logged |

China supported Russia refusing to do sanctions. It’s like Putin is afraid much sanctions anyway. Do you think he couldn’t predict it? Mostly poor people are affected by it. They need more time and power so Oligarchs start to be upset, Oligarchs don’t care much about Ruble. I’m reading people suggesting to block Russians on Internet. They’ve probably already been blocked from many sites. What is the point of canceling plains, apps and payment system? Ok, average Russians who used them are upset. They still could fly, but more expensive with indirect flights. Can they stop the war? Especially upsetting is not releasing of a new Batman movie in Russia. All Russian government really wanted to watch it

NATO has decided to reject Ukraine's request for a no-fly zone. A no-fly zone would have undoubtedly escalated the war into a military confrontation of NATO/US with Russia. But I am sure they will continue to supply Ukraine with weapons to keep the resistance going for as long as possible, in the hope that it will destabilize Russia, regardless of the cost to Ukraine.
